Wrong information, silver side of diode you said positive and plain side negative when you were connecting negative cord of multimeter to silver side. Infact it is reverse. When explaining any thing one should go little long to explain , what is diode and the its function of current flow to regulate in one direction.Is there postive or negative is resistor or it can be checked both way.
