It was sort of custom, sort of special ordered. When I called Sabian to see if i could get one, they said they already had a few laying around, so they sent me one of those. It's not in production, but I'm sure they would make one for you if you ask. Sabian is great like that! Thanks for watching!
SO good! I'm a combo drummer who just started filling in for a friend at big band gigs so my playing style is more casual swing and pocket drumming. I definitely love your style of playing because it's just flashy enough and very classy!

Hey Tim I lowered the bottom head like you said and in my house at least a way lower fuller more together note so far with more attack, I will hear it on the gig tonight. Thanks for the advice!
NICE !!!!! Tim I'm all in on your very tasteful playing. In fact, I am a 50year player who learned the right way..rudiments, etc. Been a Rock Blues guy who..... gets by on Jazz and swing through feel (I fake it !!). Your playing is very inspiring. Has helped my playing. And your solo with rolls videos did for me what no one else could. I finally translated the rolls to the kit, using the accented triplets and 8ths. Until then, I got by on very tight fast singles and quick feet. Thanks !!!. I'm enjoying the hell out of these.
Tim I have a 1937 ( 1939 ? ) Gretsch kit that was owned by Bun E. Carlos. I purchased them from a collector friend who is also friends with Bun E. For an 80 year old kit they’re in rather good condition and except for the heads, appear to be 100% original. The shells look to still be “ in round “ and are signed. Bun E. did record with them.I do not have the time or space to recondition them so I thought you might be interested ?🤷♂️
Lovely swing! Lovely cymbal sound, too. Normally for big band I tend to stay clear of dark cymbals in favor of AA's or A Zildjians, hell even Paiste 2002's. But your cymbals sound wonderful in this context!
Terrific! Love the way you stir that soup, brotha! Clean rolls, nice kicks, cymbals are spot on perfect (I'm doing an overhaul now...back to school!). The new crop of drummers (Kieth Carlock, Larnell Lewis,cats who know their instrument and can swing...are just crazy good. Choppy, yeah, but really in tune with deep musicality. Ralph Peterson talks about that in great detail. Keep them coming, I playing an '83 "Monster" Concert series...well, a portion of it! One up, two down.
6 years later and I still come back to this video. Phenomenal drumming.

ha! agreed! No doubt Potter is a great drummer, but I was not feeling his playing at all on the Buddy Rich gig.
