You're theory on the original red gunship is probably incorrect because Samus DID in fact have a lot of money because by Zero Mission she was already a respected bounty hunter (hence why the Federation hired her). This information comes from the manuals and the 2002 manga so it makes sense why you overlooked it. Also fun fact, the Prime gunship was originally called the Stealth Strike Convertee.
Perhaps the original color was simply just red, not cheap as the bottom of the ship was orange so the prime incarnation was the zero ship upside down just head cannon though
I always assumed she a had a couple of different ships for different reasons. Like the ship in Corruption is for fire fighters, and her regular ship was more for long and fast travel. First game I ever played was 1991's Return Of Samus. I was a kid and could never passed the first area, but it was always fun playing around the ship lol
I like MP3's gunship. Honestly I'd love if you talk more about what the federation is up to between games like I didn't know they cleaned up the mess on zebes. I only recently found about what they did on aether so let's learn more about how the federation supports the overall story. Great vid btw. U rly on ur way to 10000 subs and I hope u make it there soon!
By now I think that Samus has her own base somewhere like a secret chozo planet or space station. As one of the best bounty hunters until Prime 3 (then the was the best with the other three dead) she mkst likely has more than enough money to buy/build several ships and store them there. However, I think she not only stores here ships there but also some suit upgrades. Despite the game changes between 2d and 3d it's possible that, by the end kf each mission, Samus is removing some of the more powerful upgrades like the Screw Attack or the power bombs. She is hiding them at her base and, depening on where the mission takes place, is either upgrading her suit for each mission or going with her basic suit. I mean, in Metroid 2 and Super Metroid, both chozo planets, Samus goes with a suit without upgrades but in the Prime games, none chozo planets (2 & 3) or a back to nature chozo tribe (prime 1) Samus already adds a few upgrades. And in Other M, when she answeres the emergency call, she chose to use all upgrades because it's a dangerous mission.
My personal favorite is Samus' classic Gunship, the one that's in most 2d entries, and in Prime 2. Being so compact and simple just makes it more appealing to my eye. It feels very smooth and simple. It's easy to imagine and identify. I also like how in latter games we see how the boosters transform into the landing gear.
I liked the purple ship, but I assume it was a loaner. Still, maybe Samus has a collection of ships for different missions, she seems to have different base suits, which would explain why she sometimes starts without any powerups, and sometimes she looses them. I imagine a fully powered suit would take a lot of energy to refuel or recharge, much like the Prime gunship with actual guns. Unless the suits before Fusion just lost their powerups when she left a planet's gravity well, as they're intended for defense - it would stop any of the Chozo warrior tribe from getting too ambitious. This is, however, pure speculation on my part, and I have no idea if there's a better canonical answer.
I would like to think that Adam is in the Purple Ship and not being transmitted from somewhere else. So, she keeps the purple ship, but modifies it, maybe using chozo tech and/OR luminov tech, since that planet owns Samus a BIG ONE. And now Samus lives with the Luminov, using that planet as her base. Maybe she lives in the Sky Temple, since there was the most powerful upgrade of hers was there, and the huge thing is basically a mechanical fortress that she and Adam can use to be safe from the Federation.
@@victorybox2866 I know, but his mind was uploaded to a computer. So, the computer could be in the ship and not in the federation headquarters... that's what I meant...
I personally like to think she still has the Prime 1/Prime Hunter gunship still stored somewhere not mentioned as of yet. With the Prime 3 ship, I would not be surprised if ended up being wrecked beyond repair in Prime Hunters 2.
3:10 Apparently, the ship finishes fixing itself partway through the game. The main thing keeping Samus there is the storm that initially disabled the ship, as well as her desire to help the Luminoth and defeat Dark Samus.
my favorite ship is the Ship from Fusion and Dread. I hope Samus has the Prime 3 and Fed. Force Ship somewhere though, because I feel combining the two Ships would be Badass. I feel the paint job for the theoretical Hybrid Ship would be the Green Window and Red streaks of the Prime 3 Ship, a blue main body to represent the Armor's Power Suit Colors, and the purple replacing the orange on the Landing gear, instead of making it Blue like the rest of the main body.
Here's a video idea. What about explaining all of Samus' suits? I've always been speculating about how she uses physical Missiles with her suits without ever having a way of carrying them
kinda explained in a dubiously canon manga: The missle power can create a missle using the materials in the enviroment near the user. But The missles work in space to so she definetly has a container of raw materials that can be used to create missles (you also cannot just deny the existance of missle containers), given that her suit can trasform into pure energy, be resummoned later and transform Samus's body into a ball of light, i'm sure it has a way to store a lot of matter in a compact place. We don't know if this means Samus can generate ammo out of thin air (like other m), or if she needs "pickups" (packets) of raw matter to regenerate them. We know the arm cannon fabricates them inside the barrel as you press the trigger.
I think that the ship from prime 2 was given to her because she was on a rescue mission because it can have more then one person in it and for prime 3 i think that she used that ship because it was the best for combat because there was a war with phazon but that's what i think
Actually the pink/red ship in zero mission was a continuity error as the game came out in 2004 and prime came out in 2002. So somebody forgot to tell them what her ship is supposed to look like. I like zero mission as it tries to be close to the Manga but makes continuity errors with some of the other games, like you can shinespark and wall jump but canonical Samus didn't know she could do that until super metroid (confirmed by fusion the animals taught her). Yes I get it gameplay comes first but still lol
I loved this video. Thanks for including the scan visor information in the shots; it was really interesting. Her gunship in Prime 3 was designed by her, which implies that she is an intelligent hunter (in addition to all of her other ingenious feats!).
My favorite gunship is definitely the prime 3 gunship as a matter of fact it’s my favorite ship in all of sci fi something about the unique design of the ship really tickles my fancy
For me it’s a tie between the prime 2 ship and the prime 3 ship, in terms of design I prefer the prime 2 ship but the prime 3 ship has such cool weapons and functions that I can’t help but love it,
For me it is prime 3's ship for two reasons. 1 because it was the first metroid game I played, yet never beaten. 2 because it looks cooler and it seems more practical such as the guns on the ship and landing gear that doesn't require you to jump on top of the ship to get access it.
Favourite Samus ship, definitely the MP3/FF version. Design, lore, and gameplay wise. IMO, ZM ship becomes MP/Hunters ship and upgrades to her iconic ship (MP2, Super Metroid, Samus Returns, etc.). MP3 Gunship was another ship she had purchased herself, an upgrade over her previous ship, she would use when direclty assisting the Federation.
One thought is that Post Zero Mission and until its destruction in Fusion, all of these ships are the same ship. If it incorporates Chozo technology I imagine it could adapt and change shape with upgrades as needed, much the way Samus' suit does. It's not exactly an on demand shape shifter, but it could undergo transformations to adapt to major changes in the demands placed on it. Its most frequent appearance being the Prime 2, Metroid 2, Super Metroid design is probably the default. She probably hadn't settled on that one yet in Prime 1, but was working toward it. In Prime 3 Samus knew that it was full on war, so her gunship's demands weren't about getting from place to place and hauling the supplies she'd need to support her on long missions, it was about darting quickly between battles and taking on enemies, as well as being able to offer air support when she's not in it.
I always thought of the red ship as the one she was given by the Chozo. I think her MP3 ship is more of a specialist ship for certain jobs (suited for battle), but she still has her "exploration" ship. I remember hearing this but I can't remember the source, but regardless it explains why her Prime 2 ship would be her SM ship while still making sense of Prime 3.
Firstly, That thumbnail is 🔥. Secondly, I like the standard gun ship. Its consistency throughout the series has made me appreciate its presence. Although I like the red one too. Sweet color.
It is my personal headcanon that the events of Metroid Prime 3 take place after Metroid Fusion, which would explain why the ship looks the way it does, why the ship has a pretty smart AI, and maybe even why it has an autopilot system.
but in fusion she goes against the federation and is now an outlaw to them and they are actively hunting her down for destroying their facility, and now with Metroid Dread coming out we will see what happens directly after fusion and it seems like she still has the purple one because Adam Ai is in Dread. Also I am pretty sure that it is confirmed that the prime stuff happens in between zero mission and Metroid 2.
“What’s your favorite Gunship?” The Prime Trilogy iterations obviously! 😏 But in all seriousness, Prime 3 probably had my favorite Gunship because of how different and integral it was to the story, even though I do kinda have a soft spot for the iconic Super Metroid, Prime 2, and Samus Returns design.
I think the reason why in Samus Returns the gunship isn't the same as in Corruption, is simply because that was the design at the time of the original game's release.
First of all. I hope you are staying safe and healthy. Also MP3 is the one I like. It has so much to offer. How cool is it that you could put up a shield or when you arm the missiles the cockpit turn red. Its awesome
Nice video man. Didn’t know that MP1s and MPHs ship were the same. It makes absolute sense. As for the next video, I am voting for the BSL to be the next topicals
The 2nd ship is a remplacement for her destroyed ship the 3rd is a gift from adam (who solicited the federation to make it ) and the fusion timeline is a prototype that got added the IA (adam) and got given to samus because it was the only ship avaiable at the moment . She added later auto pilot but never used it because raven beak hacked her connection to the ship and she was in a position unreachable position . Then happened the X and the full metroid transformation
Although the one that debut in Metroid 2 may be the most iconic, I'd say that MP3's Gunship would be the best in terms of performance, solely 'cause of this one thing: Modularity.
Yo new video moments! It was neat to go over and explain the timeline and story of the gunships throughout the games. And again free to leave your opinions on the video her or maybe join my discord for to talk there? discord.com/invite/7jpBz7X
Considering Samus is a bounty hunter and is implied to be wealthy to some degree, it is entirely possible that she has a small shipyard at wherever she lives at that has the ships she uses and they’re used depending on the mission, like the more armed one for missions that might involve space combat, and the standard and purple one for missions that don’t really need much space combat
The video was great even though it was just talking about the ships (I will miss the old intro music oof) But my favorite ship is the Prime 2/Samus Returns version
If I recall, Fusions story was changed during the english localization. In the original japanese script, the ones who were working to clone the metroids were, in fact, a rogue faction within the federation and not the galactic federation as a whole, as it was implied in english. As a result, im sure Samus doesnt hold any ill will toward the whole federation, which is why she kept the purple ship in Dread.
I like to think that Samus actually just has a hangar somewhere (maybe Aliehs 3), where she stores all her gunships, and she just chooses whichever one is more suitable for a given job. Certainly could explain why her ship's design keeps changing. As for the purple one, we learn by the end of Prime 3, that upon landing on Phaaze, Samus is so corrupted by Phazon that her ship no longer recognizes her. It's not unrealistic to believe that this biological lock would be present in all her ships to prevent the Zebesians from stealing it (would also explain why they never try to). And since she is injected with Metroid DNA in Fusion, it is entirely possible that her ships simply don't recognize her biologically anymore, just like what happened on Phaaze, and so she gets a new ship.
the thing is that while that could be true it's also not true, after metroid 4, she'd either be a renigade and couldn't get access to her ships because of they were being taken from her by the federation, or because again didn't have access
I find it hard to decide which of the ship designs is my favorite. I lean toward the one in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, because according to the story she designed it and had it built. Even so, the design used in Metroid Prime has some really awesome features; not the least of which are the multidirectional engines on its ventral hull. I can imagine the joy of flying such a ship. What I have never understood is why she only refers to it as "Gunship" , or something similar, if she speaks about it at all in a particular game. Incidentally, of all the ships she used, my least favorite was the one in Zero Mission., and second was the purple one. The escape ship she used to escape the space pirates, was a one time used one, and was not ever actually owned by her.
I’m now super intrigued about what happened to the purple ship from the federation. I’m not certain but was this the last ship canonically that Samus has used?
Pretty sure that they're all just different ships, although I still kind of hate prime for changing the "Artstyle" so much. It pretty much looks like the Prime ships are from a completely different Franchise.
I’d love to think that Samus has the equivilant of a tony stark cave. Having enough money to have her own personal hangar, Suit displays, trophy room, and workshop.
Metroid Prime 3 has my favorite gunship. Especially in regards to its functionality; I honestly wish the command visor could have gotten more use in that game. Followed by my next favorite; which is the Fusion/Dread Ship. Then finally, it would be her most iconic ship from Prime 2/Samus Returns/Super.
I think this video is pretty much just personal headcanon. The real reason why Samus's ship looks different in every game is because Nintendo (or Retro, more likely) simply didn't bother trying to maintain any sort of consistency with the design. Just like there is no real explanation as to why the Space Pirates look like they are completely different species in each game of the Prime series. They simply come up with a new design for each game because it looks cool. If there was any better reason than this, I'm sure it would have been mentioned somewhere in the log entries.
I've always payed attention to Samus' gunship but never understood why it changed so much. I did a pixel art of her Super Metroid gunship in Animal Crossing that was like 4x3 design tiles but then I lost my save data due to Switch malfunction.
Fun fact: pre-release versions of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption referred to Samus's craft as the Stealth Strike Corvette and the Tallon-Class Strike Gunship respectively.
My favorite is easily MP3’s ship, just love the sleek and aggressive design it has and how you get to hang out in the cockpit, but I feel like its look is very specific to the aesthetic of that game. I appreciate how her classic gunship is versatile in its design and seems to fit in all those different games with different art styles, in both 2D and 3D.
My favourite Gunships is the one in Metroid Prime 3. Because in certain areas of the game. You can use the command visor the Calling Air Support and help you out. Aliens + Spaceship = Fireworks.🤔😆🎇
The gunship is definitely one of the coolest space ships ever
Agree.
You're theory on the original red gunship is probably incorrect because Samus DID in fact have a lot of money because by Zero Mission she was already a respected bounty hunter (hence why the Federation hired her). Perhaps the original color was simply just red, not cheap as the bottom of the ship was orange so the prime incarnation was the zero ship upside down just head cannon though
I like to think Samus constantly goes on new jobs because her gunships keep getting shot down, and she needs to pay them off.
@The Host Lucario Probably more likely, but I think it's funny that she's just constantly in debt.
@The Host Lucario but every gunship minus Fusion's has her colour scheme
Makes sense. She also served in the Federation military before hand too so she did have income before her bounty hunting days.
I always assumed she a had a couple of different ships for different reasons. Like the ship in Corruption is for fire fighters, and her regular ship was more for long and fast travel.
First game I ever played was 1991's Return Of Samus. I was a kid and could never passed the first area, but it was always fun playing around the ship lol

prime 3 gunship is the coolest design-wise. also, the fact that it could be used during gameplay is badass.

In the year 2020 . . . the Metroid Trainer is in quarantine . . . . The galaxy . . . is at peace.

adam is dead

Oh btw idk if you will see this comment but Samus uses the purple gunship in dread and she has downloaded Adam into the ship’s system.
Never put too much thought into all that thanks for the video.

With the Prime 3 ship, I would not be surprised if ended up being wrecked beyond repair in Prime Hunters 2.
Gotta love the one from Prime 3.
The dread trailers confirm the purple ship returns. I love it when Metroid lore remains consistent
And pretty much solidifies it's position after Fusion.
3:10 Apparently, the ship finishes fixing itself partway through the game. The main thing keeping Samus there is the storm that initially disabled the ship, as well as her desire to help the Luminoth and defeat Dark Samus.
I love the Metroid Prime 3 gunship the most. You actually get to see the inside of it and it has the best overall design in my opinion.
my favorite ship is the Ship from Fusion and Dread. I hope Samus has the Prime 3 and Fed. Force Ship somewhere though, because I feel combining the two Ships would be Badass. And in this new game, Her top priority is to get back to her ship in order to escape from ZDR.
Here's a video idea. What about explaining all of Samus' suits? I've always been speculating about how she uses physical Missiles with her suits without ever having a way of carrying them
Probably the arm cannon generates them from collectible data
kinda explained in a dubiously canon manga:
The missle power can create a missle using the materials in the enviroment near the user.
But
The missles work in space to so she definetly has a container of raw materials that can be used to create missles (you also cannot just deny the existance of missle containers), given that her suit can trasform into pure energy, be resummoned later and transform Samus's body into a ball of light, i'm sure it has a way to store a lot of matter in a compact place.
We don't know if this means Samus can generate ammo out of thin air (like other m), or if she needs "pickups" (packets) of raw matter to regenerate them.
We know the arm cannon fabricates them inside the barrel as you press the trigger.

its like the star treks replicator except for food its death

Prime 3's Gunship is such a classic, looks like something that could take on Ridley in the air!
Prime 3 is easily my favorite, but I LOVE the Prime 2/Samus Returns/Super/Other M ship.
My favorite Gunship is the one in Super Metroid, Echoes and Return of Samus
Its confirmed in the Dread Treehouse gameplay that the purple gunship is still there sooooo. Yeah. Purple Gunship.
Gotta miss the old intro but great video!
WHAT IF ..... THE GUNSHIP WAS THE METROID ALL ALONG !?!?!?!?!?!?
space is a bit too cold for that. but maybe, she could have installed some heaters
she more than likely has a home base where all of her ships are stored

Even so, the design used in Metroid Prime has some really awesome features; not the least of which are the multidirectional engines on its ventral hull. I can imagine the joy of flying such a ship.
What I have never understood is why she only refers to it as "Gunship" , or something similar, if she speaks about it at all in a particular game.
Incidentally, of all the ships she used, my least favorite was the one in Zero Mission., and second was the purple one. The escape ship she used to escape the space pirates, was a one time used one, and was not ever actually owned by her.
Bruh I've been wondering for the past year where you went. I haven't gotten any notifications. Missed you so much
Great! Now I'd like to see a video on all her different suits and armor
I like the classic sourcer ship from metroid 2 to other m.
I needed this video, it always confused me a lot how Samus changed ships like it was candy
Bruh R.i.p Samus's ships the poor girl just wants a sweet ride x'D '(
Maybe a controversial opinion, but I really liked the Prime 3 ship. I like the fins that double as legs and missile launchers.
Interesting video but doesn't explain one thing... what did Samus do with the Space Pirate escape ship she took at the end of Zero Mission?
Prime 3 Gunship seems like the best one. I gotta admit though, when it got damaged I was really worried about it.
In metroid dread, samus kept the purple gunship
I’m now super intrigued about what happened to the purple ship from the federation. I’m not certain but was this the last ship canonically that Samus has used?
What about metroid dread because she used the purple gunship to escape ZDR
Keep it up buddy.
Pretty sure that they're all just different ships, although I still kind of hate prime for changing the "Artstyle" so much. It pretty much looks like the Prime ships are from a completely different Franchise.
I had no idea the gunship from prime was the same one as ZM
I’d love to think that Samus has the equivilant of a tony stark cave. Having enough money to have her own personal hangar, Suit displays, trophy room, and workshop.
Prime trilogy had the best gunship designs.
Here's why Samus's airship keeps changing:
The damn thing keeps getting destroyed.
My favourite gunship is the one from Prime 1. Beautifully alien and perfectly utilitarian at the same time.
And then the Dread showed off the Federation ship in all its purple glory. I guess Adam couldn't be removed so easily so Samus kept the ship.
I've wondered why here federation ship is purple but the other federation ships are silver incolor?
I think this video is pretty much just personal headcanon. The real reason why Samus's ship looks different in every game is because Nintendo (or Retro, more likely) simply didn't bother trying to maintain any sort of consistency with the design. Just like there is no real explanation as to why the Space Pirates look like they are completely different species in each game of the Prime series. They simply come up with a new design for each game because it looks cool. If there was any better reason than this, I'm sure it would have been mentioned somewhere in the log entries.
Are you going to do anything for Metroid’s 34th Anniversary on August 6th?
Somehow i never noticed how drastically the gunship changed between Prime games.
The gunship had more character than I thought, Who knew?
The best and coolest theory for me would be : morphing and adaptive technology.
All of Samus's ships are pretty cool.
I've always payed attention to Samus' gunship but never understood why it changed so much. I did a pixel art of her Super Metroid gunship in Animal Crossing that was like 4x3 design tiles but then I lost my save data due to Switch malfunction.
I grew up playing super metroid so the yellow gunship I labeled in the 90's "The Pizza Pops Space Ship. "
metroid return of samus is just metroid 2 XD so it takes place when she takes out all the metroids on sr388
Ikr this guy doesn’t know crap it’s actually a remake lol
Fun fact: pre-release versions of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption referred to Samus's craft as the Stealth Strike Corvette and the Tallon-Class Strike Gunship respectively.

that's basically youtube in 3 lines. 4 if you count this one
I like her purple gunship, it's cool and spikey
OOH I finally understand. Thank you sir
Video suggestion, why not cover all the space stations we saw in the series? Like BSL, Bottle Ship or Ceres.
My favourite Gunships is the one in Metroid Prime 3. Because in certain areas of the game. You can use the command visor the Calling Air Support and help you out. Aliens + Spaceship = Fireworks.🤔😆🎇
I feel like samus has a home base where she has all her gunships.
Omg I learned so much Metroid Trainer😎
My favorite gunships are the one in zero mission and the one in prime 3
Actually, the ship doesn’t look THAT different in MP2 - I say she just upgraded it...
