Hi Katie! I get so excited when you upload new videos. These both sound amazing! Want to know my current obsessions? I bet you do! Bottega Veneta, Amber & Ylang Ylang by Estee Lauder Private Collection and from a natural perfume line called Ambre Blends, both the Ambre and Ambre Solace perfume oils. If you haven''t checked out Ambre Blends, I highly recommend you do. I get the most compliments from those 2 fragrances. Bottega Veneta seems to make both men ad women swoon.
I don't go for the Cool Water/melon type of aquatics, but I am intrigued by the salty "sea from afar" perfumes like Hermes Eau de Merveilles, The Different Company Sel de Vetiver, and Miller Harris Fleur de Sel.
The Demeter fragrances are extraordinarily holographic, and do really smell exactly like what they're supposed to. I am particularly fond of Tomato and Dirt. The staying power is fleeting, though. That's why they're billed on the bottles as "pick me up colognes" rather than perfumes.
I wish I would have checked these out when I was on my London Fragrance Safari yesterday. Perhaps I should make another trip before I return to the States! Thanks, Katie!

I agree with that idea that knowing you're about to put on a lovely new scent gives you something to look forward to.
Thanks for the plaudits. My knowledge has been gathered over years of reading perfume blogs and books, smelling everything that has a smell and memorizing/categorizing the scents, attending lectures and discussions, interviewing perfumers, and comparing notes with other dedicated perfume lovers.

Ack! This is where I get conflicted, because if you absolutely adore the scent and are filled with joy for life because of the magic the smell has for you, then I don't want to stand in the way between you and true love!
My favorite nutmeg perfume is Nanadebary Pink. Etat Libre d'Orange "Like This" is another, subtly spicy fume that reminds me of nutmeg, even if it isn't listed as an ingredient. Check out Givenchy Organza for a fuller bodied perfume that include nutmeg.
My favorite strawberry perfume is by Fresh, and it's called Strawberry Flowers. It used to be found at Sephora, but I don't see it and fear it may be discontinued...? Marc Jacabs Daisy also features strawberry. Miss Dior Cherie used to, but Dior reformulated it and took it out...
That's still on my to-do list...

I would love to know more about some of your favourites. Alas, I have nowhere near me a way to smell niche brands that you present... I don't live in Paris, and only have access to mainstream luxury brands... Thanks for your fascinating reviews!

Wow, you are amazing! I love that I'm not the only person to wear fragrance on every occasion. I like to wear égoïste to go hiking & have taken to wearing a drop vintage Opium to sleep. I'm a cave guide here in NZ & all my workmates joke that they know its me passing them in the darkness of the grotto because they can smell my Opium.
The lipstick is a new one from Laura Mercier called Pink Dusk.
I do need to do an Obsession review. I haven't followed it closely enough over the years to give you the before and after, but I will certainly give the the best current character analysis that I can.

Mugler's Angel is an obvious one, but I would nominate Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 as the unbudgeable cloud of smell that never, ever dissipates.

Most people indulge their niche bliss online. Check out sites like First in Fragrance, Lucky Scent, Aedes, MiN, Les Senteurs... Most of them offer samples so you can try before you buy.
Oooh yes, I got both Lolita Lempicka (licorice) and Prada Candy (caramel) for my birthday! I LOVE gourmand scents! :-)

I love many Lancôme perfumes, but this isn't one of them. It's just doing that berry-plus harsh-wood-plus-dessert thing that's going around, à la Marc Jacobs Lola and YSL Manifesto.

I love the Ambre Gris bottle, and for me, the perfume doesn't live up to its glamor. I *never* say this, but this is the one perfume I've almost bought just because the bottle is irresistible to me! I don't think it's a bad scent, it's just that it seems indistinct, not quite one thing or the other. Sort of ambery, sort of sweet, no real commitment to a cause. Chatting about it here makes me need to revisit it to figure out what my beef is with it.

Oh, I tried Lovely by SJP on your recommendation so I wear that & sometimes Covet when I need a fresh break from my Opium. You did give me the confidence buy whatever fragrance I like instead of thinking, I can't wear that, it's a women's perfume so thanks for that Katie :)
oh good! thank god!,I followed your fume finder and bought that one! you told me to try out no.5 eau premier and hermes eau des merveilles-I want to love no.5 but just can't and hermes one is lovely but it reminds me too much of summer! and suprisingly dont like summer time a great deal! and love winter/fall. I want something deep and rich but sensual for night time though, suggestions?

I've snorted Another 13, but instead of sounds from my mouth, you'll have to be content with words from by brain. It's part of the vogue for one (or few) ingredient scents, the ingredient in this case being Ambroxan, a warm, friendly, musky molecule. Another 13's stablemates are Molecule 02 and Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume. It's pleasant and really smells like the base of a more complex perfume yet to be designed.
Thank you kindly, Katie. Very touched by your conscientiousness and dedication to your fragrant fumie fanbase in attending to as many replies as you do. I hate to be selfish, however, and ask for more fresh videos. You're as addictive as opium. And by that I mean opium not Opium (though the latter's no slouch either).
I've tried all the Mon Numeros, and my absolute favorite is Mon Numero 8. I bought a bottle of it and the review is on my blog. Click through from "Fragrance Names" on the front page of this channel to read it.
What are your thoughts on aquatics, Katie? It's one of my favorite fragrance categories, I love me a good salty aquatic. But you don't talk about them much, which makes me think you don't really care for them. Just curious :)

Ha ha, I totally get putting perfume for a hike. I ask my mom why she doesn't use the perfumes I buy her, and she says, "I don't have anywhere to wear them." And as someone who applies perfume before taking a nap (because that's one of most delicious ways to wear scent, after all), this response makes me apoplectic.

Heh, I just spent the evening with my English friend who told me I incorrectly pronounce "Borough" (a London market) - he told me to say "Brawh". It seems there's always room for improvement, even in my own language. When it comes to my French, it's hit or miss, I'm afraid. But thanks for the tip.
