Surface charge doesn’t mean anything you should load test them using just a head light and record how much time it takes for each battery to plummet specially from 7 volts to 6.5 bolts and take the weakest out and replace them, also do battery resistance test on them using your test lighter and finally connect them in series and charge them as one unit for about 24 hrs and boom you will have a working battery pack
There is actually a screen under the rear seat where that black tunnel connects to. This screen gets clogged and the battery overheats. Keep that screen clean and it will extend battery life.
Howdy, I’ve been recently looking to buy a Prius V. From what I’ve been hearing is that these vehicles start going downhill around 150k miles with EGR/head gasket issues and eventually around 200k they need a completely new engine. Now I don’t know if this is true for everyone but I’m curious if you’ve experienced any of these issues?
I haven’t had experience with engine failure on the prius I’ve owned so far. The only failure I’ve come across on one was the batteries going out. Luckily there’s companies who replace them and give you a lifetime warranty on them, although you’re looking at around $2k if that happens. Besides that expense, it’s been nothing but basic maintenance.
@@losmerosvera thank you for that information. I’m glad that not everyone is experiencing the same issue here. The battery going out isn’t the end of the world it’s nice to know that some people really only experience that besides regular maintenance. How many miles do you have on your Prius?
I am having problem with my 2012 prius v could not drive pass 12mph. The hybrid symbol along with a few other symbols light up. Did yours did the same?
Same problem . I did a hard reset through disconnection of 12 v battery for 20-30 minutes several times and drove 100-200 miles after that , but this error code is still inside. It's not showing on the dashboard as a check engine , but when checking the system in AutoZone , it's still there. Is there any other way to delete this error ?

My 2012 Toyota Prius v HV hybrid battery finally began failing a few weeks ago after ten years of use and 118,000 miles. Right on schedule for its age and mileage. Confirmed its state of unhealthiness with check engine light and the battery error codes of POA80 “Hybrid Battery Pack Deterioration” and POA7F “Hybrid Battery Pack Control Module” … After researching my options, i.e., a re-manufactured battery pack with recycled cells from donor hybrid batteries with nominal capacity of 4.5 ampere hours, I opted to invest the extra cost in a high-capacity 6.5 ampere hour HV Hybrid Battery Pack with “NEW” cells in each of the modules which compromise the pack. Glad I did as, unlike all the local re-builders that only sell the so-called reconditioned packs, which claim to include re-balancing of the cells within the modules, I wanted the 48 Month Warranty that accompanied purchase of the high-capacity 6.5 ampere-hour capacity HV Hybrid Battery Pack with “NEW” cells from GreenTec Auto ... Fast forward to the day of the scheduled physical installation at the area GreenTec Auto shop located in Phoenix, Arizona; which was scheduled within hours of my placing the order … I was contacted by a cellphone call from the Arizona area Technical Manager, Michael Ramirez who scheduled my installation at the local shop.
