Exactly!! One of the Arizona thrash bands. The others being Flotsam & Jetsam, and Sacred Reich! That state produced some top-rate metal!!!
In 1990 many excellent thrash metal LP came out, but there was no time for them...

Back in the 90s i was walking around my Greek small town wearing a jester skull Atrophy t shirt as a teen. one of the best metal t shirts i ever owned. even metalheads were asking me about these guys. for some reason people slept on them. top ten thrash band for me. metal was exploding at that time. scandinavia, holland, usa, germany, everywhere, thrash and death and newer sub genres were popping up everywhere.

I saw this badass thrash band in 91 I was about 31yrs old I'm now 58 still thrashing hard and now black metal is my choice if music but I love 90s thrash metal

What ever happened to these guys? They put out 2 awesome albums and disappeared. I heard one of them became a doctor. They definitely rocked. I love every song on both albums.
They re-formed in 2015 with different guitarists. You are correct in that Chris Lykens left to pursue some medical courses and the band was dropped from their label in 1990, but they are currently working on a third album...finally!!!
As usual, life got in the way. 😆
I hope their 3rd album is as good as the first 2
Saw them in 2017. Tight. Also dont forget the first cassette. Every bit as good as the 2 lps were.
@@Craigfuzz1 He made the right decision to leave. Even if he had stayed the band wouldn't have survived the 90's just like most of the other thrash bands of the 80s.
Got their cassette when i was 11.

This was a big thing in the thrash scene back in the day, and it aged very well. Glad to come back to these old gems and get back on my teenage pants :) Their solos sucked tho. Why even bother, back then everything had to have a solo. Guess they didn't care.
I have to disagree here: some solos from this album were just great... I guess it depends what you're looking for...

@@bigbchilip6906 They Didn't care about the solos, the rest did the job. We don't listen to this album because exceptional solos, but for it's worth. They had a really fukin good production that set the tone :)

This was one of the things that made Atrophy unique, they kinda broke the solo rules - speedy, technical, whatever.

If you care to have a listen to that, i followed the same hack ideal with a little bit of Nocturnus flare. There's no Mike Davis technique, just hug the strings in a certain way and hack at it. Impossible to play the same thing exactly twice, but with enough practice, it will sound similar, and never fails :P
They were awesome on this tour, supporting Sacred Reich in London. Just phenomenal.

Definately more brutal then the most other famous Us thrash bands at the times together with Dark Angel. Hell, I almost thought that these guys were German.....
This album would have deserved to become a lot better known instead of falling into obscurity.

I'm recording the album on to MP3 . I'm sure I've listened to atrophy before . I listened to a song which led me to this album . I liked it so I decided to record it . I don't waste my time recording crap . They remind me of exodus . The singer has a similar voice. For any one who dosent know exodus take a listen to star spangled banner . It annoys me when people like you make these comments . You're the second . I have paid a fortune on albums lol . Been a collector from 12 63 now lol my collection is possibly with around $60,000.00 lol don't talk to me about paying for music I'm a pensioner on a DSP pension doing it tough line a lot of people. It's cheaper for me to record on to USB . I get what music I choose it's add free . I play the discs in my car while I'm driving I rarely listen to the radio . What for when I have my own add free music . Oh & lol I spend a fortune supporting bands live in concert . So there you have it lol I'm an average Joe doing it tough in life like many other people . I hope that's good enough for lol as to why I don't buy albums . Besides where the hell would I put it ? My toddlers are named after demons and metalbands,the world is so soft now i get like the concern that bad parents make bad kids but like metalheads violence isnt going to leave the house,n.w.a songs led to mass murder and gang genocide between crips and bloods over the color of the shoelaces,blam.dead for no cause.i think metalheads are reckless but capable of raising saints.my sons have had the heaviest black,deth,doom metal since birth playe to them and explained and enjoyed the rhythm training.its hard tho all they wanna do is watch creeps play minecraft and weird vids like that suks that should be the warning label society,karens need to rally together and stop the mindsuck vids and then ther is hope that they will reinvent thrash in th next two decades an not suck hopefully.children of the next level testament say...children of the freaking devil
