Car snob that bought a Hyundai probably buys power tools from Lidl
I got my drill from Lidl 10 years ago. Renovating and general abuse, still going strong
I thought Lidl power tools were supposed to be good? They're made by Bosch, just re-labelled.
The one who gave it a 3. I don't want to see him anymore he's also a 3
No he is a big 0 in reviewing cars
Dunno if you’ve ever drove one, cause 3 is about right tbh.
@@dk100han I have, it's pretty solid for the price. 5-6 at least...but I live in a different region and maybe the market is drastically different.
That dialect could also be a 3
@@dk100han lol they are very cheap to maintain that's the thing about them, and the 1.5dci engine is a complete tank, i my country we got taxi's wich drove them for easly above 500k km, we have some of them who reached more than 800k km and i know 1 who achieved more than 1M km, you have to compare it with his competitors, the price is very low, you can't compare a Duster to a Bmw x3, it's simply not fair and even then the Duster have something better than the Bmw
The dude who scored it a 3.
Are you okay, man?!
He is just more used to the supercar category than the bargain ones. He is THE SNOB that you hear in the video. :D

@@evilmario6061 i see you're also a snob, nice
The one who gave it a 3 should be better off reviewing vehicles because he has no understanding and no idea of this wonderful machine!!
He is a fcking snooker player what did you expected from him?

'I'm a bit of a car snob', but you bought a Hyundai.....right.
Dacia full name Dacia duster I believe

I get the feeling their judgement on most things is off in general.
For God's sake I'm the biggest car snobb that had ever lived yet I still drive my mothers 2017 Astra because I'm getting my driver's license next year....
Hyundai makes some good cars. Especially in the luxury and sport line.
This car is great, here in Brazil, it's selled as Renault Duster.
My brother has had one for six years and zero failures. And me too and the same very happy with him.
Ronnie giving a 3!! ...he misunderstood the target 🎯 market of the Duster
That’s the point. He represents the audience not suited to the duster at all. Hence people like him don’t rate it highly at all.
Yeah! Isn't a BMW X7 or something like that! Is a very economic SUV, for a daily vehicle family
But I've not misunderstood him and he is a pretentious snob.
@@ArturoPerez-si2xk man there are BMW SUVs from X1 to X6 and none of them are either cheap or easy on you
That guy who gave 3😐
You want a 500 hp v8,with leather interiors,sunroof,handling of a Porsche Cayenne for 13000 pounds?right!😆😆
And then drive it to the supermarket
A tip : watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Axton Fletcher Yup, been watching on flixzone} for years myself :D
“I’m a car snob” but proceeds to buy a Hyundai.
That’s like saying “I’m a food snob” and then taking the family to TGI Friday’s for a “meal”
hey!! nothing wrong with TGI Fridays! haha
cory jay I must be a food snob then 😂😂
Nothing wrong with T.G.I's lol.
I'm pretty sure the Dusters character makes it better than the Tucson as well
I'm on my second Dacia Duster, and I think it's the best car I've ever had. It's economy is not good, it's outstanding! 52 - 92 mpg .. I have proof .. One happy owner ..PS: It's a 1.5dci Prestige version ..
what happened to the other one?
@@lucasvanhamburg4937 - At 23 months old, with 38,000 miles on the clock, I traded it in for this Prestige model .. :-)

Hyundai is a great car
@@nikolanikola8543 Dacia is too, the older gasoline and the 1.5dci are bulletproof engines, very very cheap to maintain, the suspension is very comfortable, the plastics are very cheap ofc but the price is very good, you can't have it all specially for that price
Dacia Duster for 13 000 Pounds VS slightly powerful, comfortable but TRIPLE priced Hyunday Tucson. Dacia won! ;)
I love that they keep the Anamorphic Lens style that the old Top Gear had since 2002. Absolutely timeless.

Ronnie gave it a three....because that`s as high as he can count!!
Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie. You don't get it and never will as you are not in the real world. It's a great car for the money and not meant or trying to fight with the much more expensive cars out there. Ronnie you get a minus 3 from me
In this video I saw two cheap things
1) price tag of car
2) the guy who gave generous 3
The one who gave 3 don't deserve to judge the car.
Well he is playing snooker, he doesn't know pretty much anything about cars...wtf, you have live in some cage to not heard about Ronnie
Very smart words and to the point
Please do not invite the 3 man again
Ronnie should keep playing with the balls. Asking him about cars....not a good thing!
ronnie's a 2@, we need Jason back!
The quasi funny banter aside - this car is a MONSTER hit. No, not just in the emerging markets it was aimed for. The Duster is very popular in .... Germany, top 5 in Italy, top spots in Spain, Poland, Marocco, Russia and France, you name it. Popular in Ireland and England too.
don't forget about Romania

I owned one and driven 1,00,000 kms.. And found no problem.
Those who thinks it's under power then I must say that in India its comes with two engines options and Duster has one of the powerful engines. We do have nicer interior and Automatic (AMT) transmission.
I love the ground clearance + millage + build quality + powerful engine and for price.

Ronnie is frustrated
The man who gave it 3 is on drugs or something related.
It was designed for poor people who are completely clueless about beauty, comfort, technology and power.
guigovr what do you know about design ?
guigovr I know but it actually looks decent (I actually like it a lot) and he can’t judge it based on supercar quality and speed. He needs to give it a rating based on its intent, not for petrolheads.
@@80smusic43 he actually thinks like that...just think, he has a lot of money and he doenst know anything about cars...is obvious how he judge a car
Duster is practical, very cheap, engines are ok, decent features and comfort. The only minus on safety, the results are similar to an opel astra G, a 1998 hatchback. It’s also very lightweight so the safety cell can’t that strong. Being very lightweight makes it more maneuverable though. It’s funny it is built in the country with the most dangerous roads in Europe (a fatal combination of poor roads and mad drivers, the speed limit is a joke) but since people don’t have too much money there is no other way around.
"They could've make it look a little better" - Have you seen an Outlander, or the Qashqai, Jeep Renegade etc.? Don't tell me these cars look much better at double the price.
Let's make Ronnie's appearances on this show no more than 3 please?
Had one for 5 years and I love it
Good news!
Raller 2410 sandero
Good to see fifth gear is back. Awesome guys.
I have been looking into a new car and I really like the duster. I think it's a great car if you are not trying to impress anyone but just want good valve for your money.
Couldn't have said it better ! I am looking to buy a new car too and i think i will go wit the duster.
Got a 2010 1.5 DCI 4x2 and I'm gonna get a 2022 1.5 DCI 4x4. And here in Portugal it depreciates less than a Mercedes. It's a ripoff!
Looks like a good car to throw all the stuff in and go adventuring
Giving 3 to this car is not fair! You have to understand the price level and target audience of the car to rate it. This car looks like something like 9 or 10 points because you will not find much better brand new car for the price given!
I think a lot of people would have loved to see the 4x4 version in test.
I've always wondered how 5th Gear tests Dacia models only as base or mid range equipment levels and, during the reviews, they just complain about the lack of this and that....
Why don't you test the top level 150hp Duster 4x4, with leather interior, satnav etc. and, then, give it a fair score in relation to its price.
It's a bit misguiding the audience, who might think you can't get better specifications on such cheaper brands.
After all, no one thinking to buy a Duster expects to get an Evoque ;)
Unfortunately, it seems Dacia is no longer "low cost", considering how they have increased their prices in the recent years...
The first-gens might have been "budget-oriented", but the current ones are pretty much victims of their own success. You can tell they've gotten larger and heavier, and moved away to a quasi-premium feel.
You're right about the equipment though. My girlfriend wants to get one and I was just checking Autovit prices. Some of the new ones are as much as 18k EUR, with 4WD and all sorts of gadgets inside.
I think for a regular, first-gen one (just a 4WD Diesel), I'll have to wait until the Petrom fleet guys start replacing them and pick one from an auction....
@@vtr0104 Well, in UK, Dacia prices are even higher than in Romania (due to RHD version being manufactured in lower volumes, I suppose).
List price for a top-spec Duster is around £20k / €22k, while in Romania, the same level car (LHD, obviously) would be approx. £17.000 / €19.000.
As you pointed out so well, I also think it was just a matter of time until they gave up the "low cost" approach (for example, as some might remember, until few years ago, it was simply unheard of being able to order a Dacia with leather interior, sat nav, fancy factory alloy wheels etc.).
It seems a pattern shown for years by newer car manufacturers.
For example, Hyundai / Kia, similar story: in the 90s and early 00s, they were just basic affordable cars, while no one expected more from them.
Nowadays, a base model RHD Santa Fe pricing starts from...£33k (that's more than the base Discovery Sport or Evoque).
I wouldn't be surprised to see a 30 grand "Dacia" in the next years - probably, Renault will need to create a new "low cost" brand to take its former place... :)
If Dacia turns their affordable rugged car-utility vehicle into a urban SUV, they make a big mistake. The market is already saturated with more expensive SUVs. Dacia's very success _is_ being a basic and affordable 4WD because there are few competitors e.g. Suzuki Jimny. The market will always need basic utility vehicles - public services, rescue services, etc.
@@ViveSemelBeneVivere Actually, in some markets, including its home one, Romania, there still are such low cost basic versions for public services and special operations. even a pick-up version (I think designed initially for a major oil company fleet). The main issue is still the consumer, as the usual one would still ask for upper trims when purchasing a Duster and, as a manufacturer, you have no other choice than delivering according to the demand.
"I never imagined Ronnie O'Sullivan as a car salesman". Really, he's like every car salesman in Britain.
The new Extreme model is pretty decent. It gets leather seats! It gets a slightly fancier interior! It gets 360 degree cameras! It gets a spare wheel! It gets a heated front windshield! (ooohhh) I love it.
Test the 150 hp version and then draw the conclusions.
It looks good !
1,50,000 kms in my 2013, 85 PS Diesel. Not a single expenditure apart from wear and tear and an alternator problem that i got fixed dirt cheap plus 25 kmpl isn’t bad.
Good old 5th gear, thanks

That's the sort of person that says they love luxury foods and then say they regularly eat surimi and drink the 1L french wine they sell at Lidl for 1.99.
I am not sure... but the Dacia Duster is quite expensive if you dont buy the cheapest one... I mean a used car 1-2 years old from a premium brand is not more expensive.... But I really like my Dacia Sandero Comfort LPG for 10.590 € with 90 horses
This is a honest car at a honest Price . Nothing more , nothing less . This thing it's like 20k fully loaded with 4x4 and a 150 hp engine . The sales figures speak for themselves , Europe best selling SUV .
Great News!
I've never seen previously on Fifth Gear somebody to give under 6 or 5, (where is Tiff? Cuz Johnny we know he went electric). Harsh score (3) from this unknown man who eventually will most definitely buy one new Dacia Duster
If I remember correctly Johnny drove this car around Morocco few years back n he was impressed by the performance given by this low price car

It's a really good car ngl. Dad bought one brand new in 2013 the 4×2 mid range petrol 2.0L model and he still has it today and done 110k km, reliable nothing has ever broke on it. What I don't like on this 2019 model is the downsized engine. :-( Could have stuck with the 2.0L 16V that was great.
Edit: Btw if Tiff was here, pretty sure he would give this a 7 which is right on the money. :-)
How many HP for The 2.0 engine? Is it a 2.0 dci?
@@Bogdan00 It's a 2.0L 16v petrol not diesel. The old Renault Clios had them. About 130 hp. Ours had a 4 speed automatic, which is ok but I'm guessing it's better with the 6 speed automatic and manual.
In india its been sold from nearly 10 yrs by Renault as Duster.

Duster have real offroad capably unlike his competitors. Buying a fwd one makes it a bit pointless.
No is not because in those days ppl just buy suv's because they are "safer" so thi fwd is cheaper to maintain and you get better mileage
Agree. Putting 2WD in a off-road body is like putting a big burly man in a boxing ring, but he can't box. It also causes 2WD "SUV" drivers to get into trouble because they don't have the 4WD to go with the shape. The only acceptable traction for this form factor is 4WD.
