I was there for the Fleadh in 2022. wonderful time. Mullingar is a ver nice Irish town. I was born in Ireland in Tipperary and moved to US when I was 6.

Mullingar would seem to have an attractive, prosperous town centre - compared to many places in the UK . On the walking tour I didn't see any empty shops !

There's a few empty, camera guy didn't go down Mount Street which has 3 or 4 empty shops. They didn't go down Blackhall street either but there's only a pizza shop and florist down there plus the pop up markets and stage for dancing.
The local council filled the rest of the empty businesses with random stuff like tshirts, hoodies and souvenirs. Other places popped up selling vapes, drinks, refreshments and rubbish. You'd see the difference today if I recorded the same walk at the same time. But it is a decent town for business none the less.
