Titus...the answer to all your questions about why the far right is going for such things is this: EVANGELICAL FUNDAMENTALISM.
The frightening part about such persons is the addition of religious zealotry. No amount of ANYTHING can convince such persons to change. They see opposition as proof of their rightness. The greater the opposition, the more firmly justified they see their position to be.
How do I know? I grew up in that culture. I'm surrounded by it. I'm amazed I haven't drowned in it yet.

And we built up the infrastructure of our country from that. And the only way to prevent outright autocracy is to vote against regressive Republicans, doing their best to enact it. We can reach reform & progress by voting for the at least incrementally progressive party with a growing caucus whose membership requires refusing dark$ & corporate PAC donors. Supporting pro-labor 3rd party candidates & ranked choice voting at the local & state level also key! We can get there from here. From a Project 2025 executive branch & majority right wing SCOTUS, we cannot. Anti fascism= harm reduction= a path to a much more democratic republic.

I was afraid that North Korea and the U.S. might have started a nuclear war over the night.
I'm with you, my radio alarm is set to the local news station and in those four years, it was like a Star Trek Captain asking for a Damage Report, before I started to cuss out my radio. It got to the point, I couldn't listen to that station or actually watch the news without feeling like I've lost my faith in humanity.

I saw him in 1978 at Madison Square Garden. So Clarence Clemmons was playing, at that time. It was like being in a club. He grabs you with the immediacy of his presentation. And he & his band are all fantastic musicians.
