Pork pies are great, absolutely love them, especially the Melton Mowbray pie, made with uncured pork, the jelly is delish. put in to stop the filling from moving around inside the pie when cold as it shrinks when cooked.

Hi guys. Here's the answer to your duck query. The strange, warty-faced Muscovy Duck causes confusion for some bird watchers, as it's very distinctive and quite commonly seen, yet does not appear in some field guides. One of the oldest domesticated fowl species in the world, the Muscovy Duck was already being kept by native people in Peru and Paraguay when the early Spanish explorers arrived. The word “Muscovy” may refer to the Muscovy Company (incorporated in London in 1555), which transported these ducks to England and France.

If you love living museums, next time you’re on the East Coast of America, come visit Historic Williamsburg in Virginia. So much history and people are milling grain, sewing authentic period clothes, smithing nails and horseshoes, etc. ALL of the employees are all dressed historically accurate and it has beautiful gardens and grounds! It’s also not far from Jamestown when your ancestors came and landed here in America! 😊

Most pork pies don't actually have much jelly nowadays as it has to go in when the meat goes cold. Most producers don't have the time to wait. Farmers markets like the ones at Ludlow have the best pork pies. As someone else has said, The Black Country Living Museum near Dudley is well worth a visit and is the best living museum in the country.

Although I was previously saying “wot no pork pie??” on your picnic video I must confess I used to hate them when I was a kid and also because of the jelly!! My dad used to make me finish the whole flipping pie and I was a bit 🤢. Anyway fast forward ten years and I discovered jelly-less pork pies which I actually enjoyed quite a bit with decent pastry and decent meat too. After that I went back to a jelly one and honestly it didn’t bother me at all, I just kind of saw past it. Anyway, mission accomplished - you trolled me with that title. Haha! Great video and loved the visit to the living museum. So very cool. We’re following your footsteps on Wednesday and off to the Cotswolds. Hoping the weather holds out for us 🤞

I used to live not to far from this area when I was 5 and 6 and I would be forced to walk around that museum at least once every few weeks, looks lovely but I was put off at a young age from ever going back as an adult. You need a hot meat pie in your life Alex, in Lancashire they have meat pies where they will poor gravy in through a hole in the top of the pie which makes the jelly turn back into liquid form leaving you with dense meaty goodness with delicious crusty pastry. Ps your video very much cheered me up as today was first day back at work after paternity leave and iv come home to a very grizzly baby and now have to and play football in the rain while carrying a fair amount of paternity leave takeaway weight

@@TravelBeans I'm thinking short crust pastry base pre cooked, layer of pork pie pork followed by the egg then black pudding, another layer of sausage meat with a bread crumb topping then bake for 25 minutes at 190 / gas mark 4 for the old school people out there. Finally stick it in a well buttered barm cake and drench in beefy gravy, then book and ambulance for an ECG check on your heart just in case. I think I have over thought this a tad

The ankle and foot portions (“hocks”) are boiled, then the liquid is collected. The warm liquid gel is then injected after baking thru the vent hole pierced in the top before baking, and a second hole usually made at the edge. When the liquid bubble up and out the vent, the pastry chef pulls out the injector tip and moves on to the next pie. The pies are allowed to cool, the gel firms up in the fridge. Keeps a week in the fridge.

Alex, sorry mate for once I must disagree with you, love pork pies 😉 Truthfully though the best port pies are produced in Melton Mowbray in Leicester. The jelly I believe is "Aspic Jelly" a kind of gelatine which uses pigs trotters are part of it's recipe. On the subject of school trips, yep visited the Ironbridge and museum many times as a kid. Try adding a little Stilton cheese with the pie it's said to compliment the flavor 🤢 😂 Great vlog guys.
