    Great video! I keep tossing up between the freemie liberty, willow and Elvie. I pumped 150ml (5 oz) per pump in 20 mins with medela for Bub 1. It seems like I would have to change bags every second with the willow (issues with air getting in as well?) or I would need to wear Elvie 24-7 due to its poor suction! Do you have any experience with freemie?? :)

    I appreciate your video and I want to add more info about the Elvie. During each session it doesn't remember the previous pumping setting so it starts at the default strength and needs to be adjusted every single time. Also, 1 to 2 minutes into the pumping session when the expression mode automatically changes, the pumping strength resets to the default strength and needs to be adjusted again (It's very odd). The volume sensor on the Elvie is not accurate for me 95% of the time which is annoying. The app has some issues. In the app, the timer is useless because it doesn't talk to the pump; the pump keeps pumping after the timer goes off and you do have to remember to manually set the timer before each pumping session. For some reason, when the app timer goes off, it is a silent alert, so sometimes I don't realize that the timer went off. I have to correct the volume on the app after every session because the sensor is always inaccurate. Lastly, although the Elvie is more quiet than the Willow, it is not silent (as advertised). For example, don't expect to go to lecture or go to a library without hearing a robotic sound coming from your bosom. I believe that the technology is still very new so maybe there is room for improvement. I feel that I need to constantly monitor that it hasn't paused itself and open my app to check that the suction strength hasn't changed on it's own. Note: at first, I did have a lower output with the Elvie (about 1 ounce less) than with the Spectra, however I believe that now the output is similar overall. I don't know if I would buy this pump if I had to make this decision again. Good luck!

    Thank you so much for posting this. I've used the willow for the past year with my 2nd child which improved the entire experience SO MUCH compared to my first and was curious about how the elvie compares. The downsides of the willow for me are 1) its huge and not as quiet as they advertise, 2) has a serious learning curve and should have had a clear flange to start (they've fixed this in the 2.0 version but that seems like a basic concept they should have started with) and 3) only including one charger is ridiculous (seems like a money grab). The bags seemed expensive at first, but you can reuse them, and they're great for travel - super compact and 99% of the time TSA agents don't flag them. Most importantly though, I appreciate how much the willow changed my life - when I travel for work, instead of pumping for 20 minutes in an airport bathroom, I can now do it in the cab or on the plane, and even at home I can chase my toddler at the same time without bottles hanging from my chest.
    Based on your review it's great that the elvie charges via USB and is smaller and quieter, but the lower output is definitely a concern. Sounds like neither is a perfect solution yet... but I really wanted to say I LOVE that there is real investment and innovation coming into the space - Medela has dominated the market for way too long with extremely subpar products and complete lack of innovation. I'm so happy there are companies out there trying to make life easier and better for moms, so thank you to both Willow and Elvie!!

    Thanks for this video. I wanted to also add that the willow is really complicated to learn how to not get it to spill all over the place when you're done. It takes a while to learn how to get it to "gulp" the milk down at the end of the session. Also, each bag has a max 4 oz, but if the bag gets any air in it, then the capacity is even less. If you fill it to 4 oz from one breast, the gulping mechanism is a real mess.

    I own the elvie, willow and the spectra and I actually get more milk with the elvie. again, phlange size matters. make sure you get the right size plange size for the elvie. my output with the elvie is 6oz a pump and with the spectra its 3-4 oz. the willow doesnt compare, I get about 1/2 - 1 oz per pump with the willow. also the elvie only takes 15-20 minutes for a full charge for me.

    I’ve watched this video a lot over the past months! I was trying to conceive. With my first I gave up breastfeeding because it was getting hard to move around the house and go to work. I didn’t know much about breast milk and breast feeding. Since coming across this video I’ve seen many of other mommy shark videos that helped me get a better understanding of breast milk and exclusively pumping. Finally after some months I’m expecting baby #2! I did my research and saw there were 2 wearable pumps on the market. I couldn’t decide which one was better for me. After watching this video I believe that a more gentle cycle, slimmer fit and reusable container will help me out this time around. I think I will go with the Elvie! I’m so excited for it get closer to December to get this pump! I look forward to seeing more videos by Mommy Shark to educate myself more on exclusively pumping!!! 😁🍼

      You can hear it if theres complete silence you bn can hear the suction and milk dripping but the elvie is a flawed product still. I have it and am returning it for a refund because the suction mechanism on it decides when it's going to work and not work lol and I cant waste my breaks trying to make it work when I need the time to get a ample milk supply. I make about 4oz every pump, so there's no way I can sacrifice for a lower powered pump. The bottle just seems so darn convenient because I can get all the fat out. The Willow bags can sometimes be tough to get all the fat out.

I work in a high end restaurant in Washington DC and I’m going back to work soon. In order for me to keep pumping I’ll have to use either or of these pumps. It’s impossible to take 30/40 min breaks every 3 hours to pump realistically. Also which of the pumps is less revealing with a square cut shirt on. It’s not low cut but our uniform does shoe my chest (not cleavage).

The willow is very appealing in that you can wear it and clean, do laundry, go out in public, etc. My question is: is it easy to wear and do things around the house, bending up and down, raising your arm to grab stuff? It is expensive so i want to make sure it will be worth it!

    So one that can (and usually will) affect your output is the flange size. If its too big or too small, you usually don't get as much milk. The last time I looked at the Willow their smallest flange size was 24mm whereas the Elvie's smallest size was 21mm (although you do have to purchase them separately). Aside from everything else, I would need the Elvie just for the flange size alone so I would just kind of keep that in mind when you're comparing the two.

    • @MommyShark
      @MommyShark  4 роки тому

      You would be happy to know that willow does have a 21mm , if you re using the container ! Also, if not using the container , there are many inserts that can used to get you the 21mm sizing :)

    I use the Medela symphony and wanted to get one of these. I'm not sure which to get. I use the symphony at about half suction. I like the idea of the elvie more but I'm a really low supplier and don't know if that affects each pump

      @MommyShark  4 роки тому

      You need to be emptied properly at each pump in order to not lose your supply . So if you re a person that needs more of a stronger suction , willow is for you . If you respond to light suction , Elvie will work for you
