$2 bills around the world! Foreign currency similar to the 2 dollar bill
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 гру 2020
- 2 dollar bills are not unique to the United States - you can find them all over the world. Countries like Brazil, Canada, Ukraine and even smaller countries all have their versions of a $2 note in their economy. Take a trip around the world to learn some geography and foreign currency at the same time!

In the Philippines, our equivalent to the $2 bill (not being seen in circulation) is the 200 Piso bill, and in Japan their equivalent is the ¥2000 bill. Both are still legal tender but It seems to me that people seem to dislike bills with the number 2 on them 🤣
I wish that 2 dollar bills, half dollars, and dollar coins were spent more. 👍
Me too. And I love that you're called Waffle House Guy
Hey! Thanks for using my idea! I’m thrilled and very pleased!
I owe you a $2 bill! Please find my email address in the About section of my channel and send me your addres so I can shoot you off your reward. I appreciate the question.
Well I shot ya an email. Thanks once again!
I Love 2 dollar bill.l have one serial number 33335555.
That's a good one! Some collectors will really want that.
hello to you from Ukraine)🇺🇦
Cool
I have a Bermuda $2 bill. It’s interesting because it’s one of the only vertibills I have. (Vertibill = Vertical Bill)
I've got one of those in my wallet leftover from my last trip, they're awesome! I have family there so I visit frequently and they just end up on me. I prefer the 5 and 10 but they're all cool.
Great video, thanks.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the watch & comment.
Uf, Georgia in Russia...well, it was in the USSR once upon a time.
Yass
I'm from Canada and have a $2 bill from both the US and Canada.
Welcome back. I was wondering if you were going to make any more videos. This was a very interesting installment. By the way I finally got myself an 1869 Rainbow note!
Terrific! What condition is it in? I put videos up for 11 weeks in a row earlier this year, then needed a break. Once out of production, it was tough to dive back in, and I got busy. I will always try to keep the channel updated, but a weekly schedule is tough. We'll see how I do in 2021!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Welcome back again. Hope to see some more. It's in PCGS VF25. Very clean note for the grade. I also went nuts and got a $1 Rainbow in PMG VF25 and a $5 Rainbow in PMG VF20. I hope you do more in 2021. By the way I still have that nasty $2 you sent me.
Australia used to have a $2 bill before replacing it (and the $1) with coins. If you have an Australian $2 bill, its probably worth a fair bit now...
I actually have many of these bills you mentioned on
We have £2 coins in the UK which are common nowadays. You get them in change alot.
In Argentina the US dollar is the de facto currency, and we see all bills but 2 dollar bills...
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The Swedish 20 kr note is worth almost exactly $2 USD
Thanks for using my idea!
Well, Vintage Ben suggested this video a while back. But whatever you sent, plus what everyone else sent, convinced me to finally make this!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary So did I but that's fine. I'm really happy you made this video. Keep up the great work!
The 1983 2 Rufiyaa shown is part of the Maldives banknote history from 1947 to current (latest issue was 2015 and current newest signature/date is 2018
For more Information and photos of the entire 1947 to current please see below link -

In Japan there's the rarely used 2000 yen note.
Is it still valid currency? Not discontinued?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary according to Wikipedia it is, just not used very often.
Hey there was a 2 Rupee(₹) bill in India but now it is very rare to find
it's in the video
I've been watching your channel for a few months now, and you've given me some great pointers about the $2 bill. I've just received my 2nd bill, now I'll spend every one I'll get afterwards. I have a question about them: What other countries have discontinued the $2 bill and are they considered legal tender?
Thanks for being a fan. I covered most of that in this video. There were a few other countries I left out, like Colombia. I'm not sure if they'd still be accepted in their country. If they were, the spender would be doing so at a loss, since those bills are probably worth more.
I love 2 dollar bil and I am from the Netherlands
Do you have any?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary I have some
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary John, I visited banks all over parts of Central Texas, slipping a few $20’s, and/or $100’s in drive thru’s asking for $2.00’s to lots of tellers happily counting back very happy to trade off! I’ve gotten up to $140’s in $2.00’s! I don’t travel much, yet great to know, the $2.00 is respected and utilized in other currencies! Kudos! Some places, I’m the “$2.00-Guy”!! I spent up to $28.00 to get gas and next thing i know, other folks waited to buy them up!!
I don’t have one of those... I’ll have to see about getting one.
Here in brazil we have the R$ 2 bill but we don't have the R$ 1 bill,we have a R$ 1 Coin.
Brazil is mentioned in this video. Glad I was able to include it.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Here the R$ 1 Bill is like the 2 dollar bill in USA,they don't produce it anymore since 2010 ,it's so rare to see that they pay about 100 dollars for it.
@@Jorginhoflu1000 That is literally not true. They're about 40 Cents on the internet
@@bendixytp6832 what is 40 cents?
Different countries have different denominations that are rarely seen in circulation even though they are mostly not rare. In Singapore, $20 bills (super common in the US) and $10,000 bills are uncommon.
🇪🇪Estonia had a 2$ bill 1992-2011🇪🇪
And it also have an Mexican 2 pesos bill from 1914 and thank god this bill was replace by coin present in 1992 New 2 pesos and 2 pesos from 1996
What I'm more interested to know is how common in the world is it for a currency to have denominations of moderate value (say the equivalent of between 10¢ - $20 USD) that are printed or minted but extremely uncommon to see, much like the US $2 bill, $1 coin, and 50¢ coin.
I learned a little about that when researching this video, but I don't know enough to intelligently comment on it here. My impression was that foreign currencies were based on the convenience of value versus practicality in each economy, and the denominations were set up accordingly and adjusted over the years as needs changed.
200th like. that a whole $2 if you got 1 penny per like.
It’s real REAAL
What about this, is the $2 bill as rare as the silver or gold dollar coin, and how often are they used?
I can't speak for how often they're used, but I know all three are not thought of highly by consumers, and consequently, all get mostly hoarded. This further adds to the perception that they are not "normal" currency. For rarity, there are over 1.3 billion $2 bills. I did not research the number of those coins out there, but the numbers should be close, at least.
Why do they make two dollar bills even thought people rarely use them and mostly just keep them?
If there needs to be $10000000 made then the $2 will cut down on manufacturing vs making more $1.
Watching on 2/2/22.
Come back on 2/22/22 for a special video on a day with one more 2 than today.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary of course I will. That day is even a (2s) Tuesday.
Probably all countries replace their 2 banknote in coins but why the USA did not replace their $2 banknote into coin.???

I have 8 two dollar
if there's a $1 bill and a 1 cent coin, a penny. why can't there be a 2 cent coin as well??? it would only make sense I think since, 1 the pennies cost the government more to make since their worth. and plus, Canada has them and doesn't have pennies anymore. I think they would be very useful and just make our lives easier in some ways when it comes to handing out change, im a cashier myself at retail store so this would make it a lot easier.
Why do some 2 Dollar bills have brown certificate on them
We haven't done a video on brown seals yet, but we've done them on red, blue and yellow. Check those out first!

Who or whom is the issuer of an Antarctican 2 dollar note? I'm not aware that is has status if a country, only a continent. ... that is a collector for sure.....
I don't know! It was sent to me with no other info except that they thought I'd appreciate it. Honestly, I didn't even look it up for this video, since I knew I was going to show it in the closing and not the body of the piece.
I have a 2 dollar bill from there. I bought it for................ 2 dollars.
I think it was some company based out of Washington State and they have a redemption date that if you send it to them before that date, they'll send you back 2 dollars.
Two dollar bill is 2 Peso bill and then it’s gone they turn into a coin and then it’s gone
There is a 20 peso bill and turn into a coin
And then there’s a 200 peso bill
Well then my friend sent me a picture of 2 dollar but in series 2003 or 1967 its interesting because of a picture it's like Marines 800 but the number 800 is definitely can u explain me pls its and old Jefferson
I don't understand what you're saying. I'd have to see a picture anyway. Find my email in the About section and send a photo

Hello I have about 1000 2 dollars Bill I never thought that anyone is interested in them
Try selling them on eBay. You may be able to get a little more than $2 each for them.
I would like to send you some foreign $2 bills.
Would love that! Maybe I can do a video using what you send me, and I'll credit you, of course. E-mail me at john@2dollarbillmovie.com
Hong Kong has a two dollar coin since 1993- and is not a round coin.
Your Maldives part of the video is full of inaccuracies - first the way you pronounce Rufiyaa is wrong - then you claim the 1983 2 Rufiyaa note shown is from 1948 which is wrong - then you said many people never heard of Maldives
Quite cringe worthy watching the Maldives part of your video...
For accuracy please see this
www.petercin.wix.com/maldivesrufiyaa
Apologies... did the best I could with the information I researched. If nothing else, I'm sure there are lots of people who have NOT heard of the Maldives, nor seen any of their currency. Maybe this video will open a few eyes, and if they see this comment, will check your link for more information. In fact, if you leave a new comment strictly with the Maldives info (and not mentioning the errors), I'll pin it to the top of the comments feed.
