Now, that would be telling! The left was flooded when I was there, and I will say that you are a braver man than I for clambering over everything and loitering for a while. There's one or two more adit portals a little further along the cost (Devon side, to avoid specifics!), but I haven't been up those. One of them also spits out water, so it would be interesting to know if they link up. There were many mines in this area, with some located in the village that's above this area, with others being on the coastline. To that end, it would be very interesting to see this mapped!
Hi, Did you notice that weird event at 31.13, something threw a stone at you! I played it over & over, there is a white stone in the tunnel wall a few meters in front of you, it comes out of the wall at speed, on its own, straight at you but falls into the water just short of hitting . It happens very quickly, maybee you didnt notice it while there. Very weird. Cheers Daniel.
Amazing exploration video! Amazing how that water dripping onto a plastic jug sounded exactly like a wind turbine when you first heard it. Just shows how our imagination can draw all kinds of pictures in our minds if we let it.
Hi Jon, a truly amazing mine. I didn't skip forward. I know you say that the entrance is tidal but there would be no way that it would go in that far. If you had to turn back again because of tides could you not just stay between the tides. Obviously with munchies and plenty of power. I'd certainly be interested to see how far it went. Irregardless, another great explore and at least I got to watch some nice scenery for 16mins 😊 Thanks for sharing Jon.
Epic ancient mine. If you were outside the entrance when the water went over Jaks wellies it might've given you the heebigeebees to hear her involuntary vocalisations echoing down the tunnel.
That would be cool if you could somehow accurately determine the distance and heading and try to overlay it into a map to see what you were going underneath?
I'm gonna try based on the video and how many steps taken. Might try getting a GPS ping near the shafts next time. I've got 4g while exploring near them in the past.
i've been down these workings and i have some idea of them, the first shaft he came across is at 50°06'16.6"N 5°24'18.1"W, the shaft in the stope is 50°06'20.4"N 5°24'12.9"W im pretty sure, then zips took the east junction, the shaft at 19:22 is probably 50°06'21.0"N 5°24'10.5"W id imagine 27:05 is 50°06'20.0"N 5°24'04.7"W, i think the left tunnel under the shaft might go to st aubin & grylls workings, and 43:14 is pressure shaft 50°06'21.6"N 5°24'21.1"W
Imagine working back in here for 10 or 12 hours everyday? Our grandfather's and great grandfathers generations were made up of really tough men. We can see why their life spans were significantly shorter than ours.
@@donniev8181 I just played that back. I honestly don't think it was either of us :o We are goig back soon to find the end, even if it means swimming from the rocks or climbing the cliff to get back
I agree, all those colored oxides on the rocks, particularly the yellow sulfurous ones are elements bonded to oxegen (thats what oxides are). This oxegen comes from the air. You should have an 02 meter but a lighter is better than nothing. If the flame starts easily & looks normal your probably OK. But if the flame is weak, tenuous, or if the flame appears to float above the lighter on top of a gap, the oxegen is low. The nasty part is that you can feel fine for a while & then you go down for good with no warning.
@@StreetZipsSZ hey Jon, will your phone allow you to trace your adventures? I know I've asked you before but seems like a hiking app that tracks your progress would allow us to see the pathway you take through the caves?
@@StreetZipsSZ I don't know if the apps need a signal all the time or if it simply plots down your "hike" as you go. It would be super interesting to be able to see your route from a view from above though. Thanks for allowing us to go on these adventures with you though.
@@gilladams8895 Not yet, but I have a vast collection of rocks. One, I think may have gold in it. Might do a video soon. I was told the blue clay in one of the mines could have silver in it.
Ah yes, I know that one well. Truly amazing!
Have you found the end of the left and right adits? No spoilers.

WOW what a long interesting cave 👍🏻♥️

I heard that they only got paid when they arrived at the area they were mining too. That could be a big walk just to get to work!

Superb job, can't wait to see the next visit here :)
I' ve seen similar "black, shiny rock"at a site in Somerset where they processed galena.
Could be a mine adit, a tunnel which is cut to drain the workings of any surrounding mines?
Very high chance, hope to go back soon to discover the end.
Longest tunnel we have ever found
Also, as a heads up, be mindful of low oxygen levels as you get deeper into the workings, particularly at the left branch heading towards Marazion.

Another fine video. Proper job 👌
This is one of your best mines yet! I wonder when someone last set foot in it that far.
We think it was some time.
The walk is incredibly long, would love to plot it on a map and figure out where we are.

@@donniev8181 always happy to share them, we have quite a few crazy 😧 new ones coming over the next few weeks!
Should take a small sample of the black rock
Looks like an old coffin style mine
Fanstastic
If it leads to a manhole cover that opens to a parking garage... Deja Vu. 😂
Have you ever had the minerals analysed ?

Right down the bottom of Cornwall. Planning a return tip soon. I need to find the end 😬
