    Ever since GGZ Seele has been designed to feel "out of place" on purpose. She's the poster girl of Quantum as a concept and when she made the jump from GGZ to HI3 Quantum was added specifically for her at the time (though has been expanded since). Seele has always been used as a sort of unique Quantum existence who almost seems to "reject" imaginary energy, she also has an especially strong connection to The Quantum Sea and is one of few people who can successfully traverse it more or less unaided as she can almost seem to "feel" bubble universes around her which is probably what her light cone is referencing.
    "the sea of butterflies" is likely just how she interprets "The Quantum Sea" and her light cone is the first time she "dissolved". I can only assume they haven't explained this because it would take literal hours to cover it entirely.
    Seele as a multiversal existence is also kinda shown to be more directly "tied" to alternate versions of herself because of this unique level of Quantum fuckery.
    Seele is one of MiHoYo's original 5 alongside Himeko and The Trio (Bronya, Mei and Kiana) and so as such has a looooot of lore threads and history to contend with.
    so while yes she does feel very strange and almost "wrong" to be in Belobog, I feel like that's on purpose and we aren't done with her yet...I mean we still haven't met the space version of her Darkside (that being said though she already kinda acts more like the other Seele so who knows).
    Also fun fact because of her importance to Quantum as a concept, the symbol is directly taken from Seele's "Soul Feast stigmata" also called "The Stigmata Of Death".

    "Disappear among the sea of butterflies", in some Asian cultures the butterfly tends to be associated with the souls of the deceased. "Illusions of the Past", this should be referring to the Fragmentum, they are very much "illusions of the past" as shown thru the quests. So what she is saying in her ult is that the Fragmentum should disappear as they are just illusions of the deceased.
    As for her Lightcone, that one doesn't have context on where she is or what happened. It's possible that it is related to her powers, maybe she somehow slipped into the Sea of Quanta or a Bubble Universe and back to Belobog. With Belobog's story still being continued, hopefully we'll get to see a bit more background of Seele and the others.

  • @mythril30
    @mythril30 Рік тому +59

    The only thing i knew from Seele before was Oleg gave her a name from Old Belobog meaning "soul"
    I think her design and skill actually matches her story/character. Her scythe and "butterflies" I think are related to "soul"(could also be her Quantum elem.)
    She has stealth which shows how she likes to be in the shadows. She wouldn't go straight head-on bc she'd like to take down enemies alone, having a tough background surviving by herself.
    Her ult symbolizes how she likes to be alone bc of her early childhood. And I'd like to think "...illusions of the past" is trying to leave that lonewolfness after she was welcomed into Wildfire or after she met Bronya/friends.
    Idk about her LC but a memory could also come from dreams no? It could be a vivid, recurring dream or something related to her "Quantum" typing.
    But yeah this could just be HSR trying to make her cool lmao

      technically she's Estonian, she references a lot of stuff to do with souls/the afterlife from all around europe. Her name is German, her overall vibe is heavily based on Celtic Fae with some Norse influence, the entire reason she uses a scythe is because she's the destined Herrcher Of Death/Rebirth, her GGZ and HI3 battlesuits have heavy Greek (and a little Roman) naming convention like one of her main suits is called Stygian Nymph, her dark side is often referred to as Veliona because of her skill names and the name it's self comes from a Lithuanian Death Goddess.@@alvinalfianto2806

    I think the real reason behind this inconsistency lies with the name of the game: *Honkai* Star Rail
    Due to this game being a direct part of the Honkai franchise, the devs probably wanted the reoccurring characters to be stronger callbacks to their OG counterparts than simple name/face combos like, say, in Genshin Impact.
    When you look at OG Seele, her most iconic features are her scythe, quantum powers, and butterfly motif, and association with Bronya; the first 3 design features you can throw almost anywhere in a space-fantasy game without breaking most narratives.
    The last point brings me to what Star Rail did with Bronya's character, in HSR we have 2 Bronya's- Bronya Rand which draws from OG Bronya's backstory, and Silver Wolf which draws from the OG's hobbies and powers, character traits too technology reliant to be used in Jarilo-VI.
    Since Seele is more important to Bronya's background aspect- they put this character in Belobog
    TL;DR- Seele's inconsistencies stem from a desire to make a HI3rd/GGZ callback, and were not given as much attention as other character details because Seele is mostly there to be a supporting character for Bronya

    • @dracotias
      @dracotias Рік тому +8

      I think it stems more from them not wanting to dive to far into the Quantum Sea/Imaginary Tree stuff (at least not yet), Seele IS and has ALWAYS been the face of Quantum to the point where they didn't change the emblem in Star Rail, it's still classic Seele's stigmata.
      She's also the only Quantum character we've seen to really "USE" Quantum energy space magic rather than just fancy tech or "be Quantum" for the sake of Type coverage. The issue comes with explain all that to someone who didn't play the previous games first...And it'll have to naturally come up later with Welt stuff so I don't think we're done with Seele yet.

Never occured to me before, but hoyo very rarely does things "just because" so now I think Star Rail Seele will have some "reincarnated amnesiac suddenly remembers their past life and obtains godly powers" moment later in the story, perhaps when some dire situation will require a deus-ex-machina.

      Canonically everyone at Belobog is a Preservation follower since till the second time the IPC arrived they knew nothing of the other Aeons.

    I'm led to believe that the entire ult is a reference to HI3, from her red eyes referencing Veliona to the "sea of butterflies" referencing the sea of quanta and Seele always shows imagery of butterflies in both games.
    "Illusions of the past" could possibly just be a small reference to HI3 due to Seele being a lot younger there but that's a bit of a stretch.

    And they only danced once, didn't they? So I think light cones don't necessarily or always depict events AS THEY HAPPENED, but rather from the perspective of the person who experienced them, so they'd have some... stylized subjectivity to them
