Oh, my God...It touched me so much. First movie I ever saw! IN the year of 1954...and I was only five years old. I could not understand anything...I am Brazilian and could not read the subtitles. But I loved this movie so much that I learned how to sing Hi Lilli Hi Lo in Portuguese...I was used to sing it all the time, including in parties... And I was sure I looked like Leslie Caron. LOL
What a nice Tribute, thank you! I first saw "Lili" when I was 16 and totally identify with Lili and of course completly felt in love with Mel Ferrer... At the end, both dancing together Leslie Caron & Mel, were really a dream couple! I am glad, that later Audrey, who I adore very much, made him to Mr. Hepburn for a while 😊...
If you think too much about the characters’ relationship, it becomes clear that she is in for a lifetime of misery unless she goes right back out the door after the last scene - but without context, the final ballet sequence between Leslie and Mel is truly well-done and gorgeous to watch.
Der Film Lili einfach Liebe pur. Die Rollenbesetzung ist perfekt. Ganz besonders Mel Ferrer in seiner Rolle als Paul finde ich so schön. Mel Ferrer hat irgendwas magisches an sich. Den Film muss man lieben.

Guess I hadn't reached that emotional age yet, cause I couldn't figure out why she was crying. Many, many years later I saw it again on KCET. My beloved mother had just passed away and this time at the end the movie, I did cry. That was 17 years ago. And now I listened to the song again, and it's made me sad. It such a beautiful movie!

I watched this movie for the first time and it's got some oddly comedic moments and really does get at some important issues: fidelity, assault, naivety, the list goes on And touches on these without showing something terrifying or grotesque to the audience for cheap emotional responses - it's almost too realistic
