solution and solution comp heels are very different. I can only speak for the solution comp womens (same as mens but a bit softer), and the heel is not painful, even with 3 sizes downsize.
The solution heel is phenomenal based on fit. Being as well structured as it is, it doesn’t deform around holds as easily but doesn’t provide the feedback many are accustomed to. This means the heel works well on tenuous, what would be painful heel hooks, and especially finicky ones you can put a lot of force through the heel to get contact without movement of the shoe. Takes getting used to, but if this or the womens model doesn’t fit then doesn’t matter. Me, my favorite counter to the solution is the Scarpa Booster. Similar all around function of a highly flexible but good edging shoe with xs grip2 rubber and a great patch of m50 rubber on the toe, but the heel has far more feedback than a solution but still a significant m50 band to really maintain grip through some of the worst heel hooks I’ve had to try.
@@zacharylaschober I converted to mad rocks heels to heel hooks crimps and i don’t think I could ever turn back, the ball cup heel of the solution was very precise enough for me to effectively use it.
@@aaronstone360 I feel the same. I have the La Sportiva Otaki, which have the same kind of heel cup. I love the shoes but heelhooking with them is very unprecise. Let alone heel hooking on crimps: is impossible :(
