Thanks for the great video, I just did mine last week had 300hrs on a 2019 fishPro, I actually had to cut my bellow and cut and replace the hose clamp on the drive shaft bearing to free up the shaft, this great video was one week late for me, I searched all over and couldn't find any good info, this is definitely the best video out for the new style carbon seals,
Thank you so much for this video! I've worked on skis for years but never tackled the carbon seal setup until now and your video was very helpful! Great job!
So glad you made this video. I’m getting ready to replace mine and all the other videos are from older skis. I do wish you had your other camera which is way more clear.
My mid shaft bearing went out mid ride in my yamaha. I didn't sink or even take on any water. It is a bit harder to fix but it lasted 350 hrs. I was able to limp back to the ramp.
@@georgeanddaddecker7563 I did mine about twice a year. I now believe that may not have been enough but it does have a little over 350hrs on it too; so an '09 model it lasted a good while.
i like the alloy tube method, and will try it too, I usually get some 240 emery cloth and spray lube and with the strip of emery sand off the rust like a linishing motion. then get the missus to wiggle the hat with vise grips while i pull the shaft, we do it the same with fitting it. but will be trying the tube method next
Hey Big Boss I just bought a Seadoo Gti 170, I took it to the beach I flushed the engine when I got home , do I need to do anything else? I dont have to hose the engine from under the seat right?
@@SaltyDogPerformance awesome just wanted to confirm before ordering the part Mind sharing the link on where to purchase the part & also the link on where I’d be able to purchase the tools required tp replace carbon seal
I just bout a 2019 GTR 230 and it has a broken carbon ring and I found a black piece stuck in the propeller, which I believe is off of the wear ring, just from looking at the diameter. What do you think I’d have in parts to update those things? I’m pretty mechanical inclined, but I’m new to jet skis.
Wouldn’t be nice if seadoo would utilise the same tech as Yamaha and Kawasaki and use a bearing instead of a carbon seal, Did you know? FACT; seadoo used to use a bearing and a stainless steel ware ring 1996 They quickly found out that the flaw with the motor is it only had three motor mounts, therefore highly increasing the risk of engine miss alignment causing the bearing to buckle and cease and the impeller would violently hit the stainless steel wear ring. At the time it would cost seadoo a lot of money to pay rotax to change their design, so instead they decided to make wearable items and charge the customer for the parts. Therefore seadoo makes money on the entire life of the jetski Food for thought Yet people keep buying these things You can’t make this up

Just wanted to say thank you. You made a video that helped me so very much replacing the carbon seal. I greatly appreciate you and your channel!
Another great video. I would have loved to have seen you demonstrate how to properly align the engine. Maybe that could be a future video.

My other camera? I always film with my iPhone 14 Pro Max in 4k. What wasn’t clear?
@@SaltyDogPerformancethink it was my connection 😂 looks clear now.
@@k9sgarage301 I was about to say! That 4k showing my age
They should just go back to the greaseable bearing set up that was bulletproof!

What’s the part number for that new kit? Is a 2018 GTX 230 the same part number?

Do you buy your special service tools online or from your dealer m?
I get all my OEM tools and parts from Riva Motorsports or my local dealership. Local dealerships never have speciality tools in stock though.
Where you located at
