The signs are expound not in the Quran but in the Hadiths by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He said "signs." He did not say when.

Islam penalizes critical thinking if it leads you out of the religion. They call it apostasy, and call for the death of anyone who changes their mind. You know this. It's not respectful to market something as warm and fuzzy while hiding the uglier beliefs inherent in the faith until it's too late to leave.

Doomsday prophecy have been around for thousands of years, yes! we as Muslims know that because each prophet that came before our prophets Muhammed (pbuh) would of spoken about some. However, the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) spoke about the end of day times signs more in depth and spoke about prophecies that no other prophet would have known. Most of these signs would have been impossible to know or guess especially for an illustrate man living in the Arabian peninsula 1500 years ago.

You gave 2 examples, let's just say for argument sake your right. What about his other prophecies? for example; people will communicate with each other through dishes? Referring to satellite dishes, or the destitute arab shephards will compete in building high rise building? Impossible to have known this. Or people will have music instruments on there head. I'm just giving small examples.
