  • "This last year I caught 2398 Trout, I Am As Good As It Gets", is what I was told by the "Old Timer" at the boat launch. I don't doubt him at all. I trolled around American Lake for about 4 hours with several different set ups and look forward to the next time, as usual... I also met a channel subscriber as he took out his boat at the launch.
It is always nice to meet you guys out and about on the river or on a lake. I look forward to many more fishing adventures. I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you for watching.

Love American lake. I only have had one kokanee bite all winter. I am so ready for spring!

I have always gotten solid kokes out of American lake! Limited out. I use a quiet small pontoon rig with electric motor - usually catch them around 50ft during the summer just north of the island there. I'm also a big believer in using scented corn, use some UV enhancer if you have any too.

I like to use barbless jig hooks and tie my own wooly buggers with Chenille Palmer. Crazy how they can mimic small bait fish so well.

Wedding rings are a good choice for that lake for the rainbows and kokanee... the v.a side is great for the kokanee if you go deep enough... that's my home lake and love fishing it fir hold overs... maglip 2.5 or 3.0 in the flashier patterns slay as well... And the gentleman you met is a local legend for sure... he catches alot of fish

Hey there, nice to meet you out there today. Follow the old timer you met out there, he knows how to get them and nobody fishes like him. He catches the fish others dont know how to.

Trout/Kokanee can be tough fishing. I'll go days without catching a fish! You just never know. :D

Go out of the boat launch to the right, between the island with houses on it troll between that island and mainland its about 70-90 ft deep there. I troll a purple wiggle hoochie and a 4in silver dodger with trout/steelhead scent and it kills it out there

American Lake is fickle. Been skunked out there myself. Try the north shore/west end of the lake next time. Maybe I'll catch you out there. Tight lines!

That's a lot of fish that guys caught. I guess I can believe it though if he fishes every day, especially the first couple of months after stocking; 40-50 fish days should be possible then.

Of course you couldn't catch anything, the "old timer" already caught them all!
