Seems pretty much settled that over the last three or four years Epiphone have been knocking it out of the park in terms of quality. I recently acquired an Epi 59 LP and it looks, sounds, and plays great straight from the box (actually hard case which was included). I occasionally feel a pinch thinking that I might have gone for a Gibson Tribute until I remember that I would have paid half as much again and got a plain top (not really an issue but the Epi has a nice flame), no body or fingerboard binding (more of an issue for me and the Epi has a lovely bound and rolled fingerboard), 490s rather than the Epi's Gibson USA Burstbuckers, and only a gigbag. I strongly suspect that Gibson is actually imposing artificial restraints on Epiphone (like using Indian laurel rather than rosewood for the fretboard on mine) to keep some sort of perceptible gap between the brands. The laurel is still very nice btw and a notably hardy wood. Enjoyed listening to your thoughts!
you can still get epis with roswood boards and such just not all models but i am loving the epis more then the gibsons i owed a gibson for a few years and tho nice well i can get the same guitar for almost 3 times less from epiphone and always better tuning stability and so on , besides epis are still gibsons just the name and headsotck design and gibson ownes them so either way epi does seem to win out for less and most of the time way better then the gibby for sure
Recently got an Epi Les Paul Custom in ebony and haven't been able to put her down!! An absolutely gorgeous and high quality instrument at an amazing price 🙏

There are nice Epiphones, but I've never played one that matched the feel and playability of my Gibsons.
to each their own i always say maybe give a few epiphones a chance you might just give up your gibson i know i did
