Thanks Adam for the video. Your “bad” score would be my best score ever… so your round today wasn’t that bad. And that what I love about the channel, only honest golf

Another great video. Goes to show its the bad holes that separate the good scores from the mediocre ones. Still played 9 of those holes to only 1 over. Or 6 of those holes to -2. Your insight has helped my mentality plenty.
Thanks, Johnathan! I actually often look at a scorecard post-round and calculate my "best 9" and "worst 9." I'm thinking about featuring this in a video.
@@NotAScratchGolfer Thats a good idea, little on-course/off-course sports psychology. At your mention of this sort of idea I now break it up into groups of 6's and during the round each time I score well on a hole I think this is going in the top 6, giving me that sweet dopamine hit. And do my best to goldfish memory the others and not try to fix or change things on course. Then as an engineer and a golfer I'm a glutton for data punishment so post round and usually after a few rounds I'll look back on the worst sets of 6's and see if I can spot trends with those being the next focus during my home simulator time.
Great vid and amazing course. Thanks for all the work you put into these mate. My son and I often grab a single club and a ball and play a few holes at our GC after I pick him up from school. I recently had one of my worst comp rounds in years of 13 over, went out the next day with just a 7i (for all shots including putting) and was 1 over through 8 before it was too dark to play. The difference? Working with a known yardage and keeping the ball in play every time. Cheers from Sydney - Dave PS. We recently played with only a lob wedge. Awesome fun!
The Troon North courses are amazing....you will score much better next time you play it. Pinnacle is definitely a course knowledge track. Monument is much more forgiving off the tee. Really enjoying your arizona trip vids!
Just so everyone knows: Troon Golf Desert Rule: If a ball comes to rest in the desert, the player may drop a ball within two club-lengths of the nearest point of grass relief, no nearer the hole, with a one-stroke penalty.
I feel your pain. Had wrist surgery 3 weeks ago, still 4-6 before I can swing and has been 4-5 months before the surgery since I swung last. Sucks so bad.
I got my ass kicked by Pinehurst #2 over a month ago. I foolishly took a lesson the morning before I played and tried to implement a change. I knew better but still wanted to improve my swing. It was in my head and I couldn't just ignore it. Dumbest golf move I've ever made. It ruined my round, never again! But I've since worked on the change over winter and am just starting to incorporate it into my swing. The info in the lesson was good, but I should have saved the fix for practice sessions after my trip. Lesson learned.
Hey Adam maybe you could make a video about this, but how important do you think golf ball and equipment is? As someone new to golf it can be a bit difficult to sort through what matters and I’d love to hear your opinion on what ball/clubs you play and how big of a factor you think that is in playing well.
Thanks for this! I've been holding off from doing a new "what's in the bag" video because I think the importance of equipment is a bit overstated. Having a set of clubs that are *super* poorly fit for you can be problematic, but most people should be able to get around with a game improvement set of irons in regular or stiff flex with a standard lie angle, IMO. Driver fittings can be helpful for optimizing launch/spin, though. I'll talk about this more in an upcoming video.
I noticed on your OBs, you took a parallel drop with a 1 stroke penalty. Is that a local rule at the club or should it have been reteed or parallel drop with 2 stroke penalty? Asking for a friend…😂
Hey Adam…understanding that swing tips from YT viewers you’ve never met might not be on your bucket list, I still feel compelled to share what I saw here. I know you come inside on takeaway, but with your iron swings, you’re not even taking the club back like you do on your woods and hybrids. It’s like you’re trying to hit irons shots w/ your pitch and putt 100 and in swing. The club is coming back almost horizontally…parallel with the ground. I’ve seen you take solid aggressive swings with your irons that look closer to what you do with your woods in past videos, definitely with better results. Of course, take what you want and leave the rest. All the best.
Cheers Steve. Yeah, my iron swing is a total disaster. I've worked on it a bit lately with good results. But even know, to quote coach, "it's a little sawed off punch shot."

@@NotAScratchGolfer confused by the penalty strokes. If the balls are lost you're taking a lateral as a dropped ball? Should be playing the third off the tee each time in that case on 4, 7, 10, 11 and 15. Unless some were penalty strokes and dropping within a two club length.
Obviously a very pretty course, but how do you feel about courses like this where a wayward drive is basically guaranteed to be lost? We get that a lot down near me and it can be extremely frustrating to hit it a little off target and get super punished. >

Not trying to be a rules nazi but I have been taking OB as a re tee and my scores are either really high or really decent. what do you think is reasonable because i dont know anyone that really plays the stroke and distance rule and just does what your penalty is.
Good question. Generally speaking, a ball OB is stroke+distance (i.e. re-tee as your 3rd shot). Some of these desert tracks explicitly say on the scorecard to play balls in the desert as a lateral. I believe that was the case at Troon North but don't quote me on that :p
thanks for the clarification! I think that would change someones strategy depending on their handicap like a high handicap on that course should just hit driver since other clubs won't go far enough anyway
Is this the same guy who shot 106 in a recent video? When I saw worst round in the title I expected so much worse. I much prefer the monument course over pinnacle, found the latter extremely penal but I played it a long time ago
That layout looks ridiculous. Most of your “bad” shots would have been fine on a normal golf course. My home course is sort of the same as that one, except it’s not as tight. However, a bad shot is out of play on either side, on every shot(unplayable weeds).

Hey Quinton. After watching my terrible wing on video thousands of times, I've gone to coaches and asked about things that I hate looking at in my swing, including my abbreviated follow through. All of them have told me to focus on other aspects of my swing; not one has told me to try to "finish" my follow through, which came as a surprise to me.
