Im looking to connect 16 monitors to my computer for a 4x4 video wall. Im on a budget and see that the cost of the video adapters featured here are ~$34 each. Can you recommend a cheaper solution That can still support 16 monitors?
Thanks for asking, Unfortunately, this video is a proof of concept and not a setup we would recommend for everyday use. Additionally, our adapters are unable to create a video wall, instead they allow for each monitor to be unique. A video wall would need the display image to span across the array of screen, which our adapters cannot do we expect it to work with additional software. I am sorry that we cannot be of more help.
Limit is 6 displays on newer systems (lower limit than before). Compatible with Win10 for 6 displays. Doesn't enable using a laptop as a 2nd screen for another laptop. Thanks for asking!
EL Course try using VLC goto audio-->audio device and select which device to play the sound, keep in mind that windows will select a default audio output, short answer is out of the box windows can only output audio to one single device.
It should be noted that while this is possible under the right circumstances, we do not support more than six 1080P displays connected in such a way. Mr. Thompson, what tables are those in this video. Also, I have the 7 port usb adapter. Do you make a usb hub that allows for charging and host extra out ports of usb?
+Johnny Watcher (WatchFreeWebTV) Hehe .. tables are Ikea, I think. We have one of the best hubs for both charging and data, it's our USB3-HUB7BC with 60W power supply: plugable.com/products/usb3-hub7bc and we have a USB 2.0 version which uses less endpoints so is better for large numbers of devices plugable.com/products/usb2-hub7bc Thanks for asking!
Thanks for responding. Do they support my tablet? I have a Teclast x80h, it has a otg microusb. I use the 7port hub for peripherals like mouse and keyboards, but I need to charge it also. I was thinking about using the dell accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=470-abes
+Johnny Watcher (WatchFreeWebTV) That tablet appears to be running Windows RT (ARM CPU). If so, it is *not* supported. Only standard Windows versions (XP through 10) are. Sorry for the potentially bad news.
it had windows 8.1 with bing initially, but upgraded to Windows 10 which I am writing this with now. It is also dual-boot with Android 4.4.4. 2gb ram with intel z3537f quad core 1.8ghz. IMHO, it's a pretty good deal for $90
Can I use this product to connect 4 displays (a projector and 3 lcd tvs) I am building a home cockpit and need four displays for running Flight Simulator X. Thx
We don't recommend USB graphics for gaming, rather for web and business use. The performance depends on the number of pixels changing. With 4 1080p displays having every pixel changing 30-60 times per second, you're going to have some frame latency that may not be acceptable for a flight simulator. If it was 4 displays with stock market data or spreadsheets, etc, you'd be fine. Hope that helps, thanks!
Dosnt work for me , As soon as I try and use a hub with more than on adapter in rather than on board USB screens start to flicker or go into some weird contrast
Hi, I want to do video editing work, which required multiple monitor. i already have 2 monitor connected with graphic card. now i wanted to add 1-2 more for my work flow. can i use Plugable USB adopter?
Abhilash Patel For video editing and movie watching, I'd upgrade to something a bit more robust, such as the Club 3D MST. The USB option is better served for simple desktop application use.
Abhilash Patel Yes, but there'll be some latency for full screen video on USB screens that isn't normally noticeable, but would be when really focusing in on the video. So that works well as long as the USB screens are used as secondaries and you're using the main screen for main playback. DisplayPort MST solutions can be an option, but their compatibility with particular monitors can be problematic.
Hi there, just wondering if I can set these many monitors on the mac book pro, also how to display different web pages on the different screen and where can i buy your products? Thank you
Hi pluggable can I use this type of multi monitors to one CPU for a school computer lab.. But the students have to use individually with keyboard and mouse.. Because they will not be doing much in it just basic.. Is it lossible
Okay I really need some help I have one iMac. I need to put different content on 4 different TVs that are right above me. What is the cheapest way to do this?
Unfortunately, we do not support the use of DisplayLink displays on Mac systems for performance reasons. Things are improving, so this may change in the future!
Only 6 USB graphics adapters. It's a XHCI endpoint limit. You can have additional outputs on your main GPU, however multiple PCIe graphics cards presents its own problems (it's unusual at this point, with most people on laptops).
Is there a method for pinning one specific screen while I'm swiping a Win10 virtual desktops? If I swipe (4 fingers left/right on my touchpad) a virtual desktop all of this monitor are affected , can I pinning one or more?
+leto jr Intel USB 3.0 chipset resource limits will prevent that in most cases we're aware of plugable.com/2015/09/08/not-enough-usb-controller-resources
Caleb Mcjunkin Yes, with some caveats. Performance on Mac isn't at the same level as Windows (more latency because of different software driver architecture). The physical size of the TV doesn't affect performance, only the pixel resolution. I'm assuming the 60 inch TVs are 1920x1080 (1080p). Hope that helps, thanks!
iskremape Thanks for asking - there's no loss of color depth. Framerates for motion video can absolutely effectively slow down, depending on how many pixels are changing -- all pixels that change must go over the USB bus. When no pixels are changing, no data is going over the USB bus.
iskremape These work pretty well for simple desktop applications. But if you're hoping to extend the desktop for the purpose of gaming, it's only going to frustrate you. We use these USB adapters in my office and they suffice their purpose. Just make sure you get the USB 3.0 as opposed to USB 2.0 adapters. I've had quite a few headaches dealing with those.
+Plugable I am running an NVIDIA Quadro K2000m dedicated graphics card, with 16gb RAM, and a i7 processor. I have 4 monitors running via this robust dedicated graphics card. I have been trying the plugable usb adaptors this week to try and get a total of 5-8 monitors. However no matter how many I use via USB the mouse jumps around instead of moving slowly rendering the monitor useless for me. It would be fine if it just had slowness on the USB monitors, but it actually slows down all the monitors even the DP monitors that are directly connected to my fast dedicated graphics card. It's almost as if the slow connection through USB forces all the other monitors to slow down to it's speed. The weakest link theory? I would love to hear if there was a solution to this problem. Does the refresh rate change to that of the slowest monitors? The only solution I can think of now is to get a second computer. Of course I would rather not do that if I don't have to. Is there any way to tweak things?
Michael Gustavson Hi Michael, it sounds like something unusual is happening, perhaps related to the combination of DisplayLink + the special graphics card which has 4 graphics outputs. Could you send us debug info to take a look what it might be? Here's how: plugable.com/support/plugdebug Thanks!
How can I be sure it will work, I have another brand USB 2 plug in graphic adapter and it doesn't work on all computers. It worked fine on my old HP desktop computer but not on a newer HP desktop. Is this a display card problem? I use 3 HP Pavilion 27xi monitors.
Before anything else, please read the video description to see the potential pitfalls of trying to make something like this work. This is just a demo of what's possible on the bleeding edge and in many cases will not work. We can't really comment on why your other graphics adapter doesn't always work, I'd encourage you to reach out to the manufacturer of that adapter for help!
Hello, I have an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 with I7 3.4gz, 32gb ram, 2gb Radeon GPU and 256 M.2 SSD installed. I was viewing your video and im interested in doing the same with my desktop if possible. I currently use it for live streaming and need to add about 6 additional monitors to so i can expand my live view to other displays. Would that be possible with the desktop i have and if so what do you recommend? Your help is appreciated.
While the adapters in this video (as well as our USBC-768H4, the 4 display version) could work in your setup, we would caution against using video on each display. The adapters in this video use a software driver to render your external displays, and this can quickly result in a decrease in overall performance.
If you wish to use the adapters to add additional screens for more passive tasks, such as reading stream chat or similar this configuration should work well for you!
My apologies for not having a better answer for you at this time. Please let us know how we can be of additional assistance. Sean // Plugable.com/Support
Am so confused, can you help please? I contacted your support to buy these adapters and they said they can support up to 6 screens only, can you please tell me how many screens I can run at max? and which one is better for 10 screens plus, USB 3.0 or USB 2.0? and whats the best hub for it? planing to run 10-14 screens for now, maybe more later. it will be used to view web charts only, like stock market I got i7 cpu with 16gb memory and my motherboard got 4 x usb 3.0 and 4x usb 2.0
+GamesArt86 Sorry, there's no simple answer because of these issues: plugable.com/2015/09/08/not-enough-usb-controller-resources The only way to be safe with newer USB 3.0 capable systems is to limit yourself to 6 or so screens.
+Plugable thanks for the info, OK then this is in the case of usb 3 hub and adapters, so if I use usb 2 adapters and hub, should it be OK to 10 or 14 screens? after all I will use just stock chart that's all. thanks in advance
+GamesArt86 I'm sorry, you have to read this article. It all depends on the USB chipset in your host computer. If it's a newer system with USB 3.0, it likely *will not* work, while if it's an older system with USB 2.0 chipset, it will. Whether the hub and adapter are USB 2.0 isn't the key issue - rather it's the controller on the computer. See plugable.com/2015/09/08/not-enough-usb-controller-resources for details. Sorry, we know Intel's XHCI chipset implementation has made this complicated!
If it's a desktop with available PCIe slots I recommend you forgo the cost of these $100 each adapters and buy 3 AMD FirePro W600 GPUs. They are single slot cards and will have 6 mini display port plugs per GPU and it will cost less overall and not give you any comparability problems. Google the AMD FirePro W600.
When comparing with a dock, you'd want to compare with our UD-3900 plugable.com/products/ud-3900 which is a better dock (better reviewed) and supports the same multimonitor setups with the same technology. Thanks for asking!
Can I also display one image across all of them? If so would I be able to control/tweek the join lines between monitors? Also is there a limit to the length of the USB cable?
Hi There, Thank you for reaching out to us! Utilizing all of the individual displays as a single display is not possible with out individual USB 3.0 graphics adapters, as they do not support EyeFinity or any other applicable single display array system. Due to the limitations of USB 3.0, we do not offer any cable lengths rated about 3 feet. hey man love the way you set things up...... I had a question I am stock trader by profession and which is why we need multiscreen setup i hav a dell Inspiron I5 5000 series which doesnt hav a USB 3.0 and just one HDMI port to which i already hav connected a screen from i need to add one more screen can i use a USB TO VGA CABLE ? but since I AM a trader i cant afford to hav time lag in the updation from the internet coz that will spoil my trading could u please highlight on this? It'll be great!!!
According to the specifications of the Dell Inspiron 5000 series, you have two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, and one USB 3.1 Type-C ports. You can use these ports to connect graphics adapters or USB docks.
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately, no. For multi-seat we used to produce an all-in-one docking solution, but we no longer make multi-seat products and these adapters don't support the technology natively. Sorry!
Thanks for asking! Plugable hubs work well with our USB graphics adapters. Other brands of hubs can be hit-or-miss depending on hub chipset and firmware. When using a hub, you're essentially dividing the available USB bandwidth on your system among all the ports on the hub, so this can limit the overall bandwidth available to each device.
I plan on getting one of these USB Display adapters for work so I can display additional windows on the second monitor. Is there any lag when working with the monitor connected to this? I won't be playing video/games on it, just productivity software like Outlook, Firefox, etc.
I'm looking to do my "man cave" like this. what would I need to get to have my 1 computer to run 3 screens? I would have my tv under a monitor and then 1 on each side of the tv.
+Turbo Gamer I'm sorry, we don't this kind of setup for gaming. See other comments here or one of the product pages like plugable.com/products/uga-3000 for more detail. Thanks!
Cool Pup Gaming No. This is for simple desktop applications and use, NOT gaming. At most I'd use this to stream a constant stock market type graph or something of that nature.
It worked for the first 8 monitors but when I tried to add the 9th all of the screens keep blinking do you have an idea of the reason and how to resolve it thanks
Under most circumstances yes, unless the monitor isn't properly sending its unique identification information via EDID: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data Or if there is a driver issue identity can be lost.
Important question. Are application windows messed up when computer goes to sleep and is woken up? Or do they keep their fullscreen sizes? If they do, I am sold.
hi, i'm a stock trader using only my laptop. . intel i5 processor i have one usb 3.0 port if i use your product with 4 monitor 24 inches will it give me full hd in all 4 screens ?

Thanks for the video, some questions: I have an Asus Rog laptop with 1 thunderbolt, hdmi, vga and multiple usb 3.0 ports. I'm planning to use 4 projectors + laptop's screen as one large extended display. now I'm looking for a way to do it. What do you think if I used these 4 different type ports, would there be latency difference between the projectors? eg hdmi - hdmi, vga - vga, mini display port(thunderbolt) - vga, usb 3.0 - hdmi, each fullhd
Can literally any USB 3.0 port be used as a video-output ? Asking because I want to buy a cheap laptop, but cheap laptops have only 1 HDMI output and a bunch of USB 3 ports.
just got 8 of the usb>VGA + 2 USB3 7 port hubs from your amazon site in the UK (delivered on 24 december 2015), only note i would say is you need 8gb of ram or even more depending on how many screens you have and what content is on each screen (using over 4GB on this laptop so it was making it choke a lot and thats just with 8 screens, not 14 as your showing), i think 8GB should be enough, but going to get 2x8gb just to remove ram from the limitation completely (if the laptop will take 2x 8GB) i may end up moving to a desktop system just with a massive UPS setup (power goes off often) next would be CPU again depends on how much activity there is on each browser on each screen (i am using a i3 Laptop at 3ghz with HT and seems to be holding up well)
Thanks for posting about your setup, Lee! If you post any pics, videos, or reviews, let us know - we like to let people know about cool 8+ monitor setups and any advice you have. Thanks!
so sos Windows' behavior is you can drag a window to expand it across many/all monitors. But hitting the maximize button on a window maximizes it within the monitor its on. So works, but Windows UI not tailored for it. Thanks!
This will not work for a video wall setup (nor will it work at all in 99% of cases, this was a tech demo that only worked with very specific hardware and software, please read the video description!)

IMHO, it's a pretty good deal for $90
How can we get the higher rated power adapter? Need to know the ratings of ports 02-06?
This hub is only designed for 25W. We make other hubs with more power like this 60w model: plugable.com/products/usb3-hub7bc
Hi,
I want to do video editing work, which required multiple monitor. i already have 2 monitor connected with graphic card. now i wanted to add 1-2 more for my work flow. can i use Plugable USB adopter?
Thank you
Hi Henry - We don't recommend this on macOS pending some 10.12 fixes by Apple.
Hi pluggable can I use this type of multi monitors to one CPU for a school computer lab.. But the students have to use individually with keyboard and mouse.. Because they will not be doing much in it just basic.. Is it lossible
Thanks for asking! This is unfortunately not possible, what you are looking for is generally referred to as a "thin client".

I have one iMac. I need to put different content on 4 different TVs that are right above me. What is the cheapest way to do this?
If easier I could not use the iMac and buy a small computer to run if if necessary. I just need to know the cheapest way
Unfortunately, we do not support the use of DisplayLink displays on Mac systems for performance reasons. Things are improving, so this may change in the future!
Hi, is windows 10 only 6 monitors, even if we use 2 graphics cards? say with 2 x AMD FirePro w600?
Only 6 USB graphics adapters. It's a XHCI endpoint limit. You can have additional outputs on your main GPU, however multiple PCIe graphics cards presents its own problems (it's unusual at this point, with most people on laptops).
Is there a method for pinning one specific screen while I'm swiping a Win10 virtual desktops? If I swipe (4 fingers left/right on my touchpad) a virtual desktop all of this monitor are affected , can I pinning one or more?

could you run three sixty inch hdtvs like this off of a quad core mac pc?
Caleb Mcjunkin Yes, with some caveats. Performance on Mac isn't at the same level as Windows (more latency because of different software driver architecture). The physical size of the TV doesn't affect performance, only the pixel resolution. I'm assuming the 60 inch TVs are 1920x1080 (1080p). Hope that helps, thanks!
Plugable thanks
Are there any problems other than Latency?, Less colours?, less framerate?
iskremape Thanks for asking - there's no loss of color depth.
+Plugable
I am running an NVIDIA Quadro K2000m dedicated graphics card, with 16gb RAM, and a i7 processor.
Hello,
I have an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 with I7 3.4gz, 32gb ram, 2gb Radeon GPU and 256 M.2 SSD installed. I was viewing your video and im interested in doing the same with my desktop if possible. I currently use it for live streaming and need to add about 6 additional monitors to so i can expand my live view to other displays. Would that be possible with the desktop i have and if so what do you recommend? Your help is appreciated.
Hello and thanks for asking!

Do you have a link to your USB 3.0 to VGA adapters or do I choose any on the market?

Am so confused, can you help please? I contacted your support to buy these adapters and they said they can support up to 6 screens only, can you please tell me how many screens I can run at max? and which one is better for 10 screens plus, USB 3.0 or USB 2.0? and whats the best hub for it? planing to run 10-14 screens for now, maybe more later.
it will be used to view web charts only, like stock market
I got i7 cpu with 16gb memory and my motherboard got 4 x usb 3.0 and 4x usb 2.0
+Daver G Yeah I did that as well =D, thanks!
Google the AMD FirePro W600.
hi where can i buy this product have usb 2.0 in my system please suggest more details
@Plugable Why should I get this instead of a Kensington 3500v? (This is an actual question.)
Hi There,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Utilizing all of the individual displays as a single display is not possible with out individual USB 3.0 graphics adapters, as they do not support EyeFinity or any other applicable single display array system. Due to the limitations of USB 3.0, we do not offer any cable lengths rated about 3 feet. I hope this information helps, please let me us know if you have any additional questions by reaching out to us directly at support@plugable.com.

hey man love the way you set things up......
These adapters are able to play a game like surround or eyefinity? Or just for multitasking in O.S? Anyone tried? Thanks
uNoZiSbaLLiN Horrible experience. Would NOT recommend it for gaming... unless your idea of gaming is Mindsweeper
Can this be used with Multi Seat (10 different monitors running 10 different instances of windows using virtualization or similar server os ) ?
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately, no. For multi-seat we used to produce an all-in-one docking solution, but we no longer make multi-seat products and these adapters don't support the technology natively. Sorry!
can please share all component and some kind wiring diagram.
The detailed setup breakdown is available in the video description!
Woah, that ending was trippy
what if I connect multiple of the usb monitor thingies to a usb hub?
Thanks for asking! Plugable hubs work well with our USB graphics adapters. Other brands of hubs can be hit-or-miss depending on hub chipset and firmware. When using a hub, you're essentially dividing the available USB bandwidth on your system among all the ports on the hub, so this can limit the overall bandwidth available to each device.
Plugable Wow
These could be useful for my Main pc that way I can manage my servers from multiple monitors
I plan on getting one of these USB Display adapters for work so I can display additional windows on the second monitor. Is there any lag when working with the monitor connected to this? I won't be playing video/games on it, just productivity software like Outlook, Firefox, etc.
Most users would say it's indistinguishable from any other connected monitor when using for productivity software. Thanks for asking!
why don't you answer the question?
I'm looking to do my "man cave" like this. what would I need to get to have my 1 computer to run 3 screens? I would have my tv under a monitor and then 1 on each side of the tv.
Finally i can build a space control station at my home

Can u make it like sli, so if im playing a game it can be across 3 screens ( including my laptops one )
Cool Pup Gaming No. This is for simple desktop applications and use, NOT gaming. At most I'd use this to stream a constant stock market type graph or something of that nature.
According to your parts list there is only mouse/kbg device How can multiple users operate software on different monitors?
This isn't a setup for multiple users on a single PC. Hope that helps, thanks!
we would like to use it on smart boards at school would it be possible
Likely not. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of your device to see if they have any solutions for extra displays.
Are there monitors with usb 3.0 input so we can direct connect from hub to monitor without these adapters?
It worked for the first 8 monitors but when I tried to add the 9th all of the screens keep blinking do you have an idea of the reason and how to resolve it
thanks
would it be possible to have a dedicated set of mouse and keyboard to each monitor?
What about linux, can you record how to split to 3 screens + vga
The Intel NUC which model was this?
Can you list all the equipment used here please?
If the pc or monitors were power cycled, would each one retain its identity when powered back on?
Under most circumstances yes, unless the monitor isn't properly sending its unique identification information via EDID: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data
Or if there is a driver issue identity can be lost.
Important question. Are application windows messed up when computer goes to sleep and is woken up? Or do they keep their fullscreen sizes? If they do, I am sold.

Can literally any USB 3.0 port be used as a video-output ?
Asking because I want to buy a cheap laptop, but cheap laptops have only 1 HDMI output and a bunch of USB 3 ports.
I can not get 3 monitors running with display link, how on earth do you get 14?!
just got 8 of the usb>VGA + 2 USB3 7 port hubs from your amazon site in the UK (delivered on 24 december 2015),
only note i would say is you need 8gb of ram or even more depending on how many screens you have and what content is on each screen (using over 4GB on this laptop so it was making it choke a lot and thats just with 8 screens, not 14 as your showing), i think 8GB should be enough, but going to get 2x8gb just to remove ram from the limitation completely (if the laptop will take 2x 8GB) i may end up moving to a desktop system just with a massive UPS setup (power goes off often)
next would be CPU again depends on how much activity there is on each browser on each screen (i am using a i3 Laptop at 3ghz with HT and seems to be holding up well)
Thanks for posting about your setup, Lee! If you post any pics, videos, or reviews, let us know - we like to let people know about cool 8+ monitor setups and any advice you have. Thanks!
can you use 14 monitor work as one big monitor will it work or wont it
so sos Windows' behavior is you can drag a window to expand it across many/all monitors. But hitting the maximize button on a window maximizes it within the monitor its on. So works, but Windows UI not tailored for it. Thanks!

If we purchase two USB 3.0 10 Port Hubs, can we connect 12 monitors with USB 3.0? 6 USB graphics adapters on each Hub?
Hi Chad,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. Due to the capabilities and specifications of modern USB 3.0 controllers, the maximum number of USB 3.0 graphics adapters you can have connected to 1 system at a time is 6. It would not be possible to utilize two of our hubs, and connect 12 total USB 3.0 graphics adapters. I hope this information helps, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly at support@plugable.com.

Thanks Marc - If we plug the hubs into USB 2.0 ports, will that work?
Hi Chad,
Due to the controller still being USB 3.0 (which is backwards compatible with USB 2.0) we still would not advise attempting to utilize this many connected displays. In this video, the Intel NUC host system is a USB 2.0 only host, which performs slightly different from the newer USB 3.0 based systems.
