    Handmade Houseboats: Independent Living Afloat

    .....................................................................................................
First of all, Merry Christmas to all you UA-camrs watching. Second of all, years ago, I spent a very happy time living on an old boat on the Miami River with my brother. I have had other boats but not lived aboard my own boat since then. I have been thinking of getting a small houseboat I can keep on the water to use now and then. I miss being on the water. I did some research on small houseboats and decided to post a video showing all the different small and even tiny houseboat designs people have come up with over the years. if you enjoy small houseboats and living on the water I think you might like this video. I also have a pretty cool playlist of small houseboat videos on my channel.

We live on a 45' trawler type boat. We have been on the water since 2010. We keep an office ashore so we have a legal address. We are mostly self taught but have Power Squadron training. We started boating in 2003 with a 6' dinghy. We then advanced up in sizes 10', 12' 21', 26, 36' & finally 45' today. We sold our home in 2010 and moved aboard our 36' boat we had at the time. There are just my wife and I on the boat. We have a pump out boat come by every 2 weeks to empty our waste water. We have shore power and shore water hooked to boat. We also have wired 50 MB interweb service and an HD DirecTV dish system for television. It costs $1000 a year for insurance. We pay $400 per month for dock. Boat maintenance is about $4000 per year because we actually take our home to other places in the summer time. It has twin Cummins Diesel engines and can go over 20 knots. It gets 1 mile per gallon on average.

Thanks guys. That's means alot slot for the comments. I'll get there I'm working towards getting a van fixed up gonna build a bed and lots of draws for fishing and camping gear. Then haven't desired to take the pontoon or bass boat which if I find a house boat to live in I can keep both. But for now I want to fix the van for living and figure what boat to take on the road to visit as much water to fish and find new people with kids to give away fishing gear to the kids the I my non. Prophet fishing group. I love summers we give rods Reels and Tackle. To kids 12 weekends in a row if I find enough fishing gear. And now I'm trying to collect camping and survival gear to give away. Coleman stoves and lanturns I'm giving 6 sets to 6 older teens that drive. That way they have light and never run there car battery down using head lights to fish. Then have Stove to cool there catch at the lake. But my daughter almost done with 9th grade so 3 more school years then what ever I own I'll sell some but I'm gonna gibe away to single family homes and to disabled family's I'll give them dishes and nic nacs and try to bless many. But I'm only keeping fishing and camping stuff. Few tools that dad gave me right before cancer send him to heaven. My tools I'll sell and save the money to buy cheap fishing gear to clean and fix and give away to special kids everywhere I drive. But shoot I wrote alot. But keep me in y'alls prayers I've got a total knee replacmet to get done this year. Then they have to exray my feet to see how bad these bone spurs are having hard time waking for a year. Been taking gout meds. But hasn't been helping much so there's something else wrong want to cry when waking. But one more MRI on my lower back I've got 3 blown disc and not long ago it started hurting so bad I can't set up good hell to roll out of bed and lift up can't touch my lower back it's been like a bruise 14 years. Now it's so much worst. But I have some issues to get help with before these 3 years are up or I'll be stuck in a house forever and i can't do that I'm stuck in bed about 5 days a week I get Fri and Sat or Sat and Sun to go fishing then. Monday's I'm crying and stuck in bed till Fri. But pray my dream of living in rhe water and traveling a few states to bless alot of kids to get to fish not run the roads stealing and dealing. Need to see kids out smiling all day not frowing and bulling others for the fun of it but sorry I wrote so much. God bless all and all have a wonder week.

Glad to hear you're still going at it, and going good. I'd like to recommend you check out some homeopathic and chiropractic care/medicine, see if that might help out some of your health issues without breaking the bank and your body. I'd hate to see you completely dependent upon expensive pharmaceuticals and medical facilities before you even get the chance to go out and do. God bless you in your righteous endeavors, and for your good and kind heart.

Man if I could find something but as for now my pains I don't think there's anything out there. I can't take Artritis meds. Which they quit working about a year or two ago. That's why I'm stuck in bed. But I jammed my tail bone into my spine got 3 blown disc have had 3 ribs dislocated in my back which if I pick up something to heavy they pop out been dealing with that pain 24 years now it sucks. But I take usly 1 pain med. Tramadol which for most it doesn't work but me it eases it enough I can get out of bed. And my next major prob is my knees. One so-so had 1 surgery on the right and I think it needs cleaned inside again. But my left 2 surgery's but the knee caps broke in about 4 pieces now the under cap not much there the leg bones there no cussuin between it's bone on bone and been for over 12 years but can't do surgery they said I'll atleast 55. I'm on 44 now. But I finally found a Dr 2and half years ago said you need in here in 2 days get ready and sir how are you standing. As I tell all the Drs. I pointed up said god. I'm supost to be in a wheel chair full time I should be walking. My knees gone and believe me the pain I fill 24 7 is unreal that's why I o my get 2 days to fish a few house. Then I'm in bed crying 4 to 5 days. Which right now I can't hardly get to the bathroom I hurt so bad. Well I hurt mY self loading my wheel chair in my truck prob 4 times this week end. 2 times out 2 times in which that's were I got hurt loading it. So I think my fishing trips are done if I don't fish with someone. My daughter got new friend so she goes to her house on weekends now. Can't stop her for me. She needs a good friend. I'll just quit fishing till I have the surgery hope soon . O yes the reason I didn't have the surgery over 2 years ago. My dad had cancer I was driving him 200 miles round trip to the va for kemo he couldn't drive. And I lost him about 6 months later. But I couldn't stay in the hospital the 3 days after. And not drive a few weeks or atleast week after. My dad was more Inportant than I was or am. But it's been some time. I've moved so I'm trying to find another dr that will do the surgery or I'll have to go find the other Dr. I need this fixed tired of falling or getting hurt well sorry prob. Shouldn't have wrote all this. You have a good week. And yes if I could find something better and quit these pills I'm in but I take 11 to 13 a day for all my health issues. God bless.

Just buy an old sailboat. That's what I did. It doesn't have to look weird or like a house. It can look like a normal boat and be quite comfortable. Older boats are less expensive but actually very well built. I don't live on mine (though theoretically I could), but she's become my regular hang out and she sails reasonably well. Mine is a 1984 Moody MKl. Hope to see you out there.

Merry Christmas Robb! My earliest memories are of being on my grandparents houseboat on the white river and Connecticut river in Vermont. Later, in my preteen years, my brother and I would run up and down the docks in Maine harbors peaking in Windows dreaming about a life on on a boat. I don't think you ever grow out of that. Even now my wife and I kick around the idea.

  • @pureenergy5051
    @pureenergy5051 6 років тому +1

Hey ya'll. Help me build a houseboat. I want to travel around coasts and up and down rivers.
I had a NDE as a child so I know that there is no such thing as death. I was severely abused as a child, which led to this NDE. I was not allowed friends, so I became super anti social for years. Nobody wanted to hear about anything I said. My experiences are my religion, so my religion has been harshly discriminated against. Navigating in this reality has been extremely difficult, which is why I have no money, no home, no vehicle, no family.
Since this NDE included listening to and feeling invisible energy beings, I have been looking for a way to teach this using quantum physics. I have found it. This whole time what is called metaphysics or the paranormal has been physics. I have been abused and discriminated against for having experiences quantum physics backs up. I have found the problem that is causing all the wars and prisons and racism and abuse around the world. This problem is called solidity.
What is called solidity is actually energy that pulsates, spins, rotates, oscillates, vibrates, resonates and bursts forth. Read these words that I found in the book "The Quantum World" by Ford: 'magically bursting forth are quarks spinning billions of times a second as 3 points of light, forming what are called protons and neutrons.' This means that people are spinning light. People are constantly spinning as bunched up light so thick that this light is not even seen by most. Why are protons called positive charges and electrons caused negative charges? Because of the spin. This constant spin is proof of constant creation.
I read in the book "Hands of Light" written by the NASA physicist Barbara Brennan that we are eternal, multidimensional, electromagnetic, holographic energy/light/love beings.
Have you noticed that everything everywhere spins? Planets, sun, earth. The point is that the grief surrounding death can stop. People pulsate as many dimensions at once. This field of energy we are constantly bursting forth from vibrates faster than this dimension. We exist in this other dimension as a conscious form of points of light super vast and full of imagery. These points of light are constantly beaming waves of light which become bunched up waves of light called frequencies in this reality. As a focus is turned towards the earth fields, we are projected. We are projections of ideas coming from another dimension. We are holograms. At what is called death, several levels of energy leave the body called the mind. What is left to be buried is the frequencies too bunched up to fly. Most of what we are leaves as conscious energy. In the Hands of Light book there are pictures of what we look like out of these bodies.
So, since we don't die, then wars and prisons and racism should stop. But the people that have built this country, its hospitals, schools and colleges see life as solid. They have taught us all that there are enemies which must be killed. Since these people believe in solidity, then they build prisons thinking that solid people are not worthy. From Rockefeller's ideas of solidity comes all the tortures of this world. These tortures nazis believed in. These nazis are being taught further how to take over the world from the University of Chicago. Read the countercurrents.org article to find out who some of these nazis are. Watch the utube "Behind the Smoke Curtain: The 9/11 Pentagon Attack" by Barbara Honegger. She names the nazis people are calling the 1% or elitists or NWO that bombed those 9/11 buildings to hide the records of who took 9.1 trillion dollars of tax payer money.
I have been severely abused by people that believe in the theory of solidity. That is why I need help to travel the world teaching there is no such thing as solidity, therefore there is no such thing as death.

Hi Robb; great video! I stumbled across it while looking for information on a specific, very simple shantyboat. I can't seem to find the story any more, but I think it might have been called the "Otter." The owner built the hull out of a pair of 12 foot 2x12s and some plywood, and it was only 4 feet wide. He floated down the Ohio River on it iirc. I think the picture at 6:27 is the boat I'm looking for. Do you remember it?

He said only 60 per month for a dock space. That is $720 a year. I have a house in a small city in Wisconsin and pay $1100 taxes per year. Yes, I have to pay water and sewer, but that runs almost exactly $1.00 per day, or $365 a year. So for nearly the same price, I have a house on solid soil, water and sewer and my house will increase in value, but his boat home will not. I prefer my set up to his.

1974, read many books on the Dauntless. Ken Conklin was at the wheel and if I remember correctly the other boats name was the Dana?

Mike, I remember the4 dauntless, but being from Miami, I mostly remember the snow. I think I was in 79. my first ship was the MV LionHeart. If shipping had not gotten so bad i would have stayed.

you can thank Nixon for its demise. When I left A books were competing for C level positions. Everything went foreign flag. I started shipping for Columbia university on their research vessels (R/V Vema and R/V Conrad). After that I enlisted in USCG. I miss the water:(

I was at piney point 1979 class 305 Conklin was still there. shipped out of balto. and newyork. I alaways had good luck getting a ship. If things were bad 80 days on my card and a A book took the job I would ask the A book to through the job back at 4:00 pm and I would give them $200.

Your cover photo is stolen from my neighbor on the Mississippi River. Please take it down. You're just using it to get more subscribers. He's a real River Rat.

Hello Gerty, thanks for contacting me. If your neighbor does not want me to use that photo please have him contact me and I will be happy to substitute it with another houseboat . However, if he has a website or a UA-cam channel I would be more than happy to provide the link to his channel or website in the video description or leave a comment about him and where people can find out more about his houseboat and pin it to the comment section so it will be the first comment.
