Thank you!!! I just fixed my dishwasher for $32.60 for a genuine GE part and about 1/2 hour total, saving me the $950 my wife was about to spend on a new unit. Thanks again!!
Thank you for the video. I am incredibly un-handy and always get easily overwhelmed when faced with the prospect of having to fix anything at all. I'm thankful for UA-cam. But I was actually able to do this, and now our heated dry works again! It was just as easy as the video implies. Thank you.
Thank you for the step by step! I changed out my part today and now my dishwasher is like new. I struggled with removing the old switch, but your close up shots helped so much. Really appreciate it!
Same here. Our washer stopped filling with water. Checked the water valve and it worked. Pulled the flood switch and gave it a good shake. Nothing. Gave it a washdown with hot water and got a good teaspoon of gunk out of it. Shook it again and you could hear the float rattling around in there like it's supposed to. Put it back in and all is well!!!
@@stevematda976 Our cleaning didn’t hold up long - we ended up having to buy a new flood switch after all. Still, it was a cheap fix and now it works better than ever!
@@mickjager5974 I think so! That's what happened with ours, anyway - it would run, but without any water. Replacing the flood switch completely fixed the issue for us.
Mine flooded a couple times and then the heat stopped working and a lot of forums I saw said to replace this for heat also. Just replaced mine I'll get back to if it works.
I just discovered I have a small leak after running the dishwasher two different times after installation of the flood switch/thermistor. Any suggestions?
Hi, after replacing the flood switch with the help of this video, my dishwasher is making lots of noise. Constant grinding sound they moment I switch it on. Guess during the circulation of water. Please help. Did we do anything wrong??
That happens sometimes, if you remove the kick plate at the bottom of the dishwasher you should be able to see that harness and the hole it fell out of. Just push it back up thru and your all set.

Excellent video! I'll be attempting this repair this weekend.
Very helpful! We were able to clean ours out and put it back - and this was just the set of instructions we needed to do it successfully. Thank you!

Would a bad float switch allow the washer sound like it is trying to run, but not fill with any water at all when you try to start it?

My dishwasher wasn't filling with water and replacing this part fixed it. Thanks!
Thanks u
Have had issues with it not cleaning then not filling with water. Going to check my float switch today
Thanks so much for this video. It was so clear and concise. Loved the closeups, they helped my so much!😀
Awesome fix! I was looking for a video like this! Thank you!
Great video. Very informative. Really disgustingly dirty dishwasher.
This part will prevent dishwasher from filling and overfilling to avoid flood ❤
Great video! Thank you for the clear descriptions!!
How do you test that float switch to see if it is actually bad or not?
Wish they showed..guess if it floods its likely bad as it shouldn't do that.

Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏

Perfect fix, thank you
Can I use a multimeter to test the float? And if so, what pins?
I saw a video but haven't tried. On the row with 4 pins it's the middle 2.

What happens if a wire breaks oo the plug into valve
What should we do if there's pooling water in there that won't drain? Is it still safe to replace it or do we need to get all the water out first?
I had a bit of pooling water and I used some hand towels to soak it up prior to me swapping the float valve.
Suck all the water out first with a shop-vac otherwise get a beach towel and a 🪣 bucket.
The harnesss fell into the hole. How do I get it out??????
