Seems like this company has found an ingenious way to have a true expert help them engineer a better holster.
bruh
Good point.
Thats what I was thinking, gen2 coming out soon
😂😂💯💯
Thats exactly why they sent it I bet!
“It’s like the French…”😂😂
I always trust the guy who did it for 35 years as a profession. ❤
Thank you for the honesty. Stay safe!!!
Thanks D!
I understand why you don’t want to say the name of that VNSH holster. But since I’m not a content creator, I’ll point out that it’s a VNSH holster and right now they have it on sale for $80 (regularly $129) on their website. I think it’s important to name the brand so as to keep everyone informed in making their own decision. I agree, hot garbage.
Holy shit. $80?!?!?! 😳
@@OGsDangerShow I just looked it up and saw the price and that was my reaction, too. You can get good holsters for less and very good holsters like a T. Rex Arms Sidecar for just a few bucks more (base holster there is $100).
I can't see how it's more than $30.
There's nothing there worth $10, much less $80 or beyond 😂
@@OGsDangerShow $60 if you use discount code FREEDOM. And you know they are _still_ making money at that price. I can see what they were trying for, but dear lord, you demonstrated so quickly how bad the design is. Especially with two of the most prevalent firearms in concealed carry use. If they'd taken the 5 minutes you did, they would've been able to figure out that the design needed serious refinement. At least on their site they do have an offhand mag carrier that is super securely attached with more of the not-velcro plastic hooks into the fuzzy not-velcro fabric of the belt.
Chineeseeum at best
Your integrity is not for sale. I appreciate that!
This video falls under the PSA category: Public Service Announcement.
Thank you sir. Glad to see an honest review.
I was taking an informal class that involved drawing/holstering many many times. Classroom setting, no ammo in the room. We were re-holstering and there was this obvious "CLICK" in the room as a firearm dry-fired. The instructor said, "Uh oh, who just shot themself..." The retention button had slipped inside the triggerguard of a striker fired pistol and set it off. In that case, it was an OLD form fitted hard leather holster that the strap had worn until it was floppy ... I can see the same potential for a similar incident here.
It's important to make sure even good holsters remain in good condition as well.
Thanks OG.
😂
I've seen guys struggle reholstering with new thumb break holsters that still have stiff straps.
It just isn't a good retention method. New stuff like Safariland and even crappy Blackhawk holsters are safer than thumb break retention.
This unnamed company has been spamming my YT feed like crazy, Never would have considered this anyways but since OG has provided clear information on this I as glad to see I am correct. I like my Safariland ALS holster for my G19s EDC. Thank you sir!
@@reciprocal9849
Alain Holsters all the way.
@@reciprocal9849 Alien Holsters have been great for me. This POS OG is talking about never caught my interest.
Is this the Vanish holster that I see so many adds for all the time ?
@TylerSnyder305 I don't think so but something very similar
@@Jezus42 I guess I'm lucky then because I'm not getting any adds for anything but the Vanish holster occasionally.
Uncle Mike's with extra steps..
BINGO
I was thinking an Uncle Mike's with a back panel. Universal holsters fit every gun the same. Badly.
Shoot I'd say even uncle mikes are better than that crap
@@ishnifusmeadleI was perusing holsters in the store the other day. Of course there was a ton of uncle Mike’s, it appeared that they’ve upped their game, still junk holsters, but they have improved. I suppose they have their niche somewhere but CC isn’t that place.
“Standing in front of an ATM at 2 in the morning getting punched in the biscuit” well done OG.
I been telling everyone that asks me about this (POUCH) not a holster that they will be gone in a few years when people start getting killed or injured. A holster is a primary safety, and there isn't anything safe about it. The other thing to mention is if you was to bang into a sharp corner, im sure the trigger can be hit. Thank you for doing this video OG.
Exactly! Modern striker-fired pistols with no external safety must be carried in a 100% safe holster. That holster acts as the external safety. It can't be a soft pouch.
That company needs to vanish.
We all see what you did there. 😂
Hahahaha very subtle 👀
I see what you did there, vanish as in Vanish. The sad thing is that a lot of stupid people will buy it without knowing what hot garbage it is.
A money making schill operation, an I see what you did to.
😀😀
Cops are not people to review cheap products, we know what works and what is hype. Good on you for sticking to your principles. Rock on OG
Even the thotbots don't want that stretchy holster. 😂 I wouldn't mind having it though, looks like a good place to keep a spare hot sauce!
Like Paul Blart 😄👍
When I saw the thumbnail in my sub feed, I thought this was Ed Basmaster.
"Look at it, would ya just look at it'
The only “One size fits all” holster that actually works is your mom. I’ll see myself out LOL
How did you know about my mom😮????
You're not wrong.
Heyoooooo!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Im OGs sister, and I can assure u, youre not wrong.
Nobody that's done a lot of draws has ever said, "You know what I want? A holster that's SQUISHY!!"
So, how does this happen? I'm gonna say it's a cash grab.
People who don’t train simply don’t know, they just want it comfortable to wear
Hhhahaaa! I just deleted the email for the holster.
They would’ve paid you nicely. 🤣
“It’s like the French … it just gives up as soon as the fight starts” blahahaha 😂😂. That made my day my friend! But I have one of unnamed holsters and I must agree, no matter what I tried I’m like nope! Won’t be trusting this EVER.
Thank you for showing this. I have seen quite a few of their ads on my social media, and I thought it looked like trash and would have never been interested in one anyway. But this really showed the nitty gritty about what my gut feelings were telling me. Thanks Greg!
The camera is in good focus. A universal holster is being made fun of. Hell yes.
We’ll get there eventually. 🤷♂️
But but but it's silent like the the foot steps of a Navy Seal!
This goes in my toy box next to the survival knife I ordered from the back of a comic book in 1983
I have one of those knives, I leave it clearly visible near something that would be pried open if a thief happened by...... I'm pretty sure the cops will be able to check the local urgent care for the perp.
"...the survival knife I ordered from the back of a comic book in 1983"
I know that knife. Hollow handle to hide your Skittles with a compass in the back cap. Saw blade on the back so if you ever to stick into a piece of meat you'd never be able to get it back out. Remember the Buckmaster?
@@johndoe-so2ef I thought you meant to use it as a diversion. Like the thief sees that knife sitting there and figures there’s nothing worth stealing in the box. 😆😆
Harsh but fair sir. Hopefully the manufacturer listens and improves their design.
No, probably not. They are way too busy selling it to people who are unaware for $80 online telling them that they are getting it for less than its $120 retail price. 🙄🙄
This is actually version two. First saw them about 18 months ago, and that one didn't have the mag pouches.
I learned about "one-size-fits-all" holsters at the age of 5 or 6, trying to shove a cap pistol into a cheap plastic holster from a different play set. How someone reaches the point in their life when they think a "universal" holster makes sense is quite beyond me.
Yep, Tyco/Rugers do _Not_ fit well in Mattel/Colt holsters.
The only time I carry an universal holster, in my case a rifle mag pouch with some shock cord, is when training in Ukraine.
Why?
I never know before hand if the unit has Forts, Makarovs, Glocks, Berettas or bloody TT33:s 😂
Well...tailor made holsters don't exist for _every_ firearm that currently exists, and sometimes you need something that fits "well enough" until someone does make one, or you find something better. Try searching for holsters for something that's a bit outdated and/or obscure, or even a gun that's just new to the market. Choices are going to be either extremely limited or non-existent for either of those two categories. In that case, a "good enough" "universal" holster might be all the option you actually have.
@@nightrunnerxm393 You can make a custom one pretty easily
Looks like a holster you would find in the "As Seen On TV" section at Walmart.
These “holsters” are NOT for anyone who’s “fluffy” plus. The bands wind up turning into a tourniquet AND, like OG said, the tool can fall out. It happened to me at work and thank GOD nobody saw my G19 (at the time) fall out onto the floor when I bent over to strap in the person’s wheelchair. All they heard was a “thud”! Those holsters DO make great fire tinder! 😊
As someone who carried professionally for 22 years, any time I see a "universal" holster like object, it's an instant no. In addition to the issues Gregg mentioned, the retention snaps hang into the holster, right where the trigger will go. A great way to have an ND with a Glock or XD.
"just like the french, just gives up and goes away".... too fkn funny!!!!
Except they didn't. Like most armies they got screwed by their politician's policy. The French fought bravely against a superior force. The troops on the Maginot Line fortifications held out for months, starving, knowing it was a suicide mission. The Germans eventually pumped gasoline must into their positions and burned them alive. But you know... They totally didn't fight.
I was going to get one of these with all the advertising across guntube, then i actually looked closely at it on the product page and knew it wasnt for me. Great video!
OG...... truthful, like always !
The only accessory that could help that holster is a hole through it to stick a finger through !
Well deserved negative review. I don't have much practical experience with holsters, but this one got serious issues.
Stay safe and thank you for the video 👍🏻
Belated happy 4th of July to you and yours, and to all Americans here
Thanks Carsten! Stay safe over there. 🇩🇰
Love love love the honest review!
Good to see you again, haven't been getting notifications lately.
Good that you "reviewed" this "holster."
I'm also retired LE, so of course I still keep certain good habits. Yes, forever watchful and forever noticing.
At least 90% of what people wear for holsters are complete junk. Essentially, if that holster doesn't say Bianchi or Safariland on it somewhere and have one active retention mechanism, don't buy it, don't wear it. There may be other ones out there that are good, just haven't seen them.
The rare times holsters come up for discussion with a carrier I can always end it with "great! So when is the last time you did a retention drill?"
Anyway, good on you that you didn't shill out.
However, the one exception I make on the "Safariland and retention mech" is for chest rigs.
I use Kenai holsters for chest carry up here in AK. Absolutely the best ones I've seen hands down.
I have several Kenai chest rigs from gunfighters Inc. Absolutely love them anytime I don’t need to conceal a pistol.
I Trust You Brother. Have a Great Weekend. Nice drone view at the beginning! Cheers fr on South Carolina.
I love that you're real and not a corporate shill like a lot of other UA-camrs out there!🙏
Oh, I still get called a shill all the time. If you ever say something positive about a product, you are a shill on UA-cam.
Hey there OG, fancy scissor guy here again. I've been a faithful viewer and com-mentor? talking to you for years now over on Jeff's channel, and more recently on your channel. Good times. You have a good sense of humor on some topics, not so much on others. You're human. I forgive you.
Getting back on topic, those Klein scissors really are best for EDC in my opinion, and at the minimum, should be in every survival backpack/bug out bag. Despite what you may think of my critique of the police, or my politics, my genuine love of theses scissors is unmatched by any other tool I've ever used.
The first VHS movie I ever saw was Rambo First Blood, and the only thing I ever dreamed about getting was a survival knife like his in the movie! (I remember buying my first survival knife at the San Jose Flea Market back in the late 80's probably?, so there's no lost love for knives.).
I don't expect you to like, or comment back, but I know you read every single comment.
You're welcome. :)
and thank you for your service, and knowledge. You seem like a good guy.
Ain't nobody done a good review of those snips for survival! You might even be able to get them on a plane? Maybe not? They're certainly not as scary as a knife, just by looks.
blah, blah, blah.....
Awesome that you did this review. I've been getting ads for these constantly. I hadn't got around to researching them yet but they did push my curiosity button.
Thanks for checking it out.
Never NEVER use a holster that doesn’t secure the trigger area for modern striker fired pistol. These flimsy holsters can cause a ND.
The French joke was the best. To quote Willy from the Simpsons "Cheese Eating Surender Monkeys"
Well done commercial for a product you really don’t want. Thanks OG
Good to see you! And good to see an honest, unfettered review on something i agree is hot garbage. As a former military weapons guy, there's no way in hell we'd cary anything like that. And yes, if it's that or nothing to cary your pistol to the beach, ok. Take care up there! 😊
I have considered everything about this holster you covered in this video. Thanks for clarifying what I needed confirmed.
First time I examined one of those things I got that old "Cheapest version of an Uncle Mike's I've seen lately." feeling, and put it back where I found it.
"It's like the French...it just kinda gives up as soon as the fight starts." 😂💀
Yep I agree on all points especially the retention strap. I have the Blackhawk stache nacho it’s great.
100% agree with you! Elastic and flat holsters are beyond just dangerous in my opinion. I've have people show up to the range with those and they learn quick that they can't reholster without flagging themselves.
We still smack our heads when this happens. Stay safe down there, brother.
Thanks for the, if rather scathing, review of something I've had family members attempt to either make me get or get for me!
Admittedly, I'm rather foolish, and using a "clipdraw" style clip which does leave the trigger exposed and since I carry with a round in the chamber... Well I'm very careful when it comes to that. I've been trying to find a better holster method and your video on appendix carry give a lot of great advice!
Thanks for being The OG! Love your work on TAOFLEDERMAUS as well!
Stay safe and keep educating the masses!
The retention strap was the questionable thought that got this unnamed company wrote off at the first commercial viewing.
Thank you! I've heard good things about the Crossbreed belly band. I'm kinda stuck on the Comp-Tac MTAC. It just works and holster shells are readily available. Hill People Gear medium sized chest rig with a velcro Maxpedition holster strap is pretty good for rural settings where crawling, climbing & running tools/dogs is a possibility.
I bought something like that some years ago, nope, haven’t warn it for years. I do wear my Bugbite with a LPC .380 on my ankle. Works good, slow as hell, but like the .380 it’s there so I can get to a safe place. I do have others if I’m going to a bad area. Those are carried in a OWB quality holster with at least two extra mags. Great video, glad to see you again!!
Thanks for stopping by, sir.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. The cost of that piece of fabric would have stopped me from buying the holster anyway. Now I can Just go back to ignoring the VERY present commercials until I can "skip"them.
"it's like the French" 😂 ! I love this channel! I'm hooked . Going to be following like a puppy behind a 7yr old boy with a pork chop.
Thanks for the great review of my mediocre review. Glad you like the show.
Thank you, O.G. for an honest, visual review. Unfortunately, some gun/2A channels advertised this "holster," but never review it. Take the money and run.
Keep up the great content.
We don’t have any say on what ads UA-cam places on our videos, so it’s possible you could see an ad for that very holster on this video without me even knowing it. When the gun tube guy is holding it in his hands and tells you it’s the greatest thing on earth, you know he’s taking money from them for a positive review and it’s all bullshit.
I have to agree 100%. I ordered one on a special and had exactly the complaints. Add a laser or light and it just compounds it's short comings. I've been using mine as a concealed back brace.
Thanks, O.G. ! I know one holster NOT to buy! Keep up the GREAT videos!!! 😎😎😎
Thanks, OG! Good product review, Lol! I'm sure they appreciate it but if they don't we do.
Thanks for the reminder. It's been awhile since I've trained holster draws with double taps.
Excellent review
When I choose what to entertain a speaker, this UA-cam Creator is on my personal preferance list with recommendation to all others.
Keep em coming OG!
Love your content Greg. So glad you got out of Commyfornia. Thanks for your LEO service and may God bless you.
Thank you, sir.
I’m a retired law enforcement officer with 33 years of experience. I agree with your assessment of the holster. That said, I carried a chief special in an ankle holster for about 10 years early in my career. The best way to carry is with your firearm accessible, concealed, and comfortable. The only good thing about carrying your firearm in a holster like this is just like my ankle holster, carrying your firearm rather than not carrying your firearm.
I liked the way you handled that , just the facts .👍
I agree with your review with this being a better than nothing option. The only time I would consider using a holster like this is when I'm walking around in my PJs and dont wanna get dressed to wear a real holster lol.
Officer Greg, I love your content man! I’ll be here for every video you have. Thanks for your hard work! 🫡 🇺🇸
The first time I saw one of these, I knew it wasn't good. It reminded me of those maditory useless backbelts that were once all the rage in the workplace. They, in a short amount of time, lost elasticity, and the velcro would no longer grip and actually did nothing to support the lower back and prevent lower back injuries. They actually contributed to more back injuries by installing a false sense of safety in the wearer that they couldn't get a back injury while wearing the belt.
Appreciated. Thanks for the real deal OG.
I just struggled through one of their videos before leaving a trash comment; then happened to see your video come up next with a crazy upload timing.
Like the beard OG! Thanks for the review!
Thanks for checking it out, sir.
I think the 2 magazine pouches are to make it ambidextrous, since the shape is symmetrical, it looks like you can carry a gun in either orientation. As for my holster, I use the AlienGear Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB, and I love it.
Holy shit, OG. I can feel the heat from that garbage clear over here in central Wyoming. Appreciate it when school is in session on your channel. 👍
Thanks, thanks for stopping by, Tony.
I actually purchased this holster last year out of curiosity. Once I received it, I tried it out with 2 of my pistols...a Springfield XD .40, and a S&W M&P22C. The results were kinda horrifying.
With each pistol...when trying to slip it into the holster...the holster would push the slide back. I had to hold my thumb on the back of the slide just to get the pistol to seat correctly. Definitely not a good thing.
When I contacted the company to let them know I wanted to return the holster and get a refund, they responded back that I could keep the holster and they would still refund my money.
So...I have this holster sitting in a box in my closet...and was still able to get my money back.
Maybe use it to wash the car or carry a flag in a parade. 🤷♂️
@@OGsDangerShow They suggested that I "gift" it to someone else. My worst enemy, maybe? 🤷♂
Nice new location!
Totally agree with you OG . 👍👍
Very informative. 20 odd years ago, when I was an unfortunate resident of caliunicornia, (Visalia and Tulare) my only side arm was a TZ75 that I carried in a stiffened nylon holster that had the mag holder on the forward surface of the holster. I liked it since I could just grab the whole package, and clip in on my waistband and go. It had a thumb break snap but I guess the snap strap was flimsy enough that combined with the relief around the grip area, when I broke the snap, it would fall away allowing my hand to fully grab the grip and go to work. I did practice enough that I was fair with grabbing the spare mag since I have pretty long arms, but not great. That said, if I had used up my 17 shots from the first mag and was still in a fight, there was plenty else going wrong. I did get a two mag carrier for the weak side eventually. Thanks be that I never had to pull the pistol in a defensive situation. Thanks for all the info. If I get to where I can carry again, it gives me much more to think about. Thanks OG
"It's like French, it gives up as soon as the battle starts" 😁 Great one! 😁
OG, I have seen the ads for this particular product. One thing I have noted in the past is beware the company that tries too hard. Follow up found that the wear out real quick and threads pull fast. Even their ads when they detail features raise questions that you just outlined. I had already termed this a garbage months ago but you did great supportive follow-up. Hope the retirement adjustment is going well.
Thank you sir. Good to have you stop by the show.
Freaking OG straight up gangster with his reviews 😂 love it 💯💪🏽
Thanks for watching, sir.
Hey Osssifer OG! Thank you very much for your honesty. It is much appreciated. Don't ever sell out.
Appreciate that, sir. Thanks for the donation. Stay safe out there my friend.
I've got one, was cheap when I bought it. Use it once in a blue moon and only with my full size sidearm. My EDC was far from secure in it.
Generally grab my shoulder rig and an over shirt for the times I don't have a belt or suitable waistband.
Don't forget that if you reholster the wrong way and one of those snapes go into the trigger guard and that's it.
Thanks for the video, OG. I have been so tempted to try one of those but the lack of trigger guard has prevented me from trying it out. I've been so tempted that I almost asked you to send it to me. The flappy straps are a no go. Not to mention it is way thicker than portrayed in the commercial. When I carry with my kidex I feel like I have a VCR stuffed down my pants. When i get to 170lbs, i know it's time to cut back on the cookies so you can imagine i don't have a lot of real estate to hide my shield plus.
I would love to see a video on acceptable holsters that are slim for slim people.
I am probably not the right girl to answer questions about holsters for slim people. 😬
Yeah thats a No Bueno, but good on you for the G40. My G40 an G20 serve as a Hunting gun, an a SD weapon. But I use full flap holsters to keep the weed an seed out of the G40, Blackhawk Operators in M81 pattern, kydex holsters in Lev 1 for the G20, always under cover an only carried in the winter. But thats just me for my purposes. In shorts in the summer, its generally a pocket 9mm or a .380 ruger max, with a spare mag side mounted on the belt, hey its Fla an hot an steamy 8 mo of the yr, you ought to see my white chicken legs, its a sight to behold. Lmao. Thx for the vid OG.
OG I use those Nylon Belly Belts for holding my Spinal Cord Stimulator charger in place over the internal battery, because the belts that come with the unit keep breaking.
When i started carrying i tried many, many holsters. Because of my body type, i can not appendix carry anything bigger than a lcr. I bought an alien gear cloak tuck, loved it. I have like 5 now. Everything from my little smith and wesson to a fullsize 1911 and a canik mete. I have a box of junk new holsters that are useless.
You revealed the company at :40 seconds 😂
Everyone will be OK.
The thing with those holsters is the holster collapses once you take the gun out. You can’t re insert the gun quickly
I knew it when I first saw their ads on yt.
I learned my lesson on those floppy holsters, a few years ago I did a pistol class as a newbie, I had a bulldog soft universal holster, long story short I made the class longer than needed everyone was mad, literally when we walked into the range house the instructor grabbed the holster tossed it into the trash handed me a new one a proceeded to lecture me on holsters.
That looks like a fanny pack. 😁
I use leather slide holster for my Hellcat 9mm , soaked it in water and put my gun in a plastic bag and molded it to my gun, fits just like a glove with perfect retention…
I live in the country where protecting my firearm and retention while hunting or doing chores around the homestead and wood lot are my primary concerns. I primarily use the "Uncle Mikes" nylon holsters for that and have for many many years and found them best overall for me in that application . I do have many other leather holsters in different styles for concealment purposes that work extremely well for when I'm out and about and don't need to worry so much about damage to my firearm or needing such a high level of retention .
The Kydex holsters I absolutely hate and they damage a firearms finish quickly and the 2 I've had are very uncomfortable for anything other than for the range or during competition use. Otherwise I absolutely hate them for EDC use and only use them now with my old duty belt and when at the range.
Thanks OG for the update on this particular holster and some of the things that you pointed out were issues , are exactly what I thought would be an issue after having something very similar to it in the past that went on a regular pistol belt instead of having the elastic waist band.
Jezi Krist OG I had to look twice at the thumbnail. Love you getting your grizzly adams on :)
It comes and goes. I will probably shave it by the end of the week.
@@OGsDangerShow No Need :) It suits you .
I wasted my hard earned money on crappy holsters and equipment long ago, and I have learned my lesson. OG, do not bother putting me on that give-away list! Maybe use that holster from They Who Shall Not be Named on your next knife test.
Many thanks for the information OG, I was given a hard holster by my son for the HK 45 that he had given me on my birthday last year (LOVE that gun!) I don't normally CC, was kept from getting into the habit by my last employer but am looking for a new CC holster for an older and smaller (and trusted) 9mm that I've owned for about 3 decades. While I love the HK it's too big for comfortable CC for me.
This info you've provided is now in the old information hopper to help with my decision. Many thanks again sir.
You might look at Tier 1 Concealed for inside the waistband holsters, or Vedder Holsters for great outside the waistband holsters.
@@OGsDangerShow Thanks very much Greg, much appreciate the info.
Great video.
I was getting hit by this holsters adds all the time. It seemed convincing at first until I thought it through. The words universal, one size fits all. Everything- all in one holster. I watch the adds now and it seems like a home shopping network gimmick. OG is an influencer and they know that. However now they know they better not send him HOT GARBAGE.
Yeah, but I may win that Wrangler truck thing they were using as bait. Thanks OG for the PSA
I would never use this style holster. That being said. Thank you for the many reasons why my suspicion was correct. Very informative video. Thanks og
