@@ooshtoosht1695 He's an amazing composer, but not really great at arranging for a "Sega Genesis" style. Note, he didn't arrange the music here, he composed it and someone else programmed and arranged it onto the Genesis hardware.
My favorite out of the 5 multiplayer soundtracks. It sounds nostalgic despite not growing up with the game. This just makes me feel a bit emotional. This may be my taste, and that bass isn’t the best, but still my favorite. This might be on my top 5 favorite sonic music 1991-1996, hell, probably on the top 3. If we are not talking about nostalgia, it does have a circus (kinda) carnival feel, if that even exists.
Balloon Park is one of my favourite tracks in Sonic 3! I love how even though only 3 FM channels + 2 PSG channels were used around the start, the track manages to sound full! The breakdown in 7:43 uses unique melodies, which is a great way to end the track. The PSG chords add so much depth to the track, and I cannot believe that the FM patch at 5:58 (channel 4) has two notes playing at once. The chosen bass patch is far better than what the prototype version of this was going to use. I just wish this track had PSG 3 (white noise). Still, the fact that this track already sounds wonderful makes it up. 👍 On a slightly unrelated note, I speculate that either Jun Senoue (due to the similarities between this and Pleasure Castle from SA) or Tatsuyuki Maeda (a resemblance to J.League Pro Striker 2 - Unknown (Sound Test 87)) did the composition, while Masaru Sestumaru that made the programming/arrangement. I can recognize his wizardry.
It actually wouldn't surprise me if this is a Senoe track. This track specifically got a remix in Sonic Generations while a lot of other Sonic 3 & Knuckles tracks were midi renditions. As you rightfully pointed out, it also sounds a lot like Pleasure Castle from both Adventure 1 and the demo tape for Sonic 3D Blast. I'm not that well versed in music theory to give you a compositional breakdown, but this does sound like his style of composition from back then for sure.
One thing I always loved about chiptunes, and this song is no exception, is that this is proof that limitations breed creativity. You want a good example? Look no further than the Follin Bros, and anyone else whoever worked on the commodore 64. And that's just to name a few.
You know. I think it's because of the melodic rhythm of channel 2's 1:20-1:30 which reminds me of parts of Windy valley (The air) which was a Sonic 3D Blast remake, and Speed Highway (At dawn). Its not the same melody in any of those cases, but the way they're played gives me the same kind of feeling.
Strange enough, in this song the bass sounds too artificial, it doesn't even try to emulate a slap bass or a synth bass like most of the weirdest ones, it sounds like a bass with strings made of electricity, but still it fits the song perfectly. Great song, does Sonic justice.
THIS IS SO ANGELIC AND HEAVENLY PLUS BADASS OF DAC AND CHANNEL 1 IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME OF THIS I WILL GIVE THIS VIDEO A 100/100 IT ALWAYS BLISSFULLY TO MY HEART!!! I ALWAYS LOVE THAT AT 2:39 AND 3:31 IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY!!!
instead of the prototype music they should have used Balloon Park for Carnival Night. The Act 2 remix could have even been "MJ style" by removing instruments.... the start of 3:30 would be perfect.
3:31 One of the best basslines in the entire Sonic series. Certainly top 5 material for the classic games.
100% agree.
Also, not all that hard to learn on a keyboard!
00:27 to 0:40 makes me cry, so beautiful
Relatable
Jesus, channel 2 is adding so much energy at the middle
It really does
I believe Channel 2 is the same instrument as Star Light's main instrument.
@@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171 it sounds like it but its not the same
I agree 100%
@IAm DaBest Yep
2:12 Sonic 3 Anime Ending
weebs when bells (sugoi anime??? 😱😱😱😱😱)
2:39 that part that always seems to be omitted in almost every remix I’ve ever heard of this song.
2:12 holy fuck......
its so beautiful
This is 100% Jun Senoue. So in tune with Twinkle Circuit and White Park.
Holy crap, I never put it together but you're so right
Then why did he have to make awful music for origins?

@@ooshtoosht1695 likely because he didn't compose music for genesis hardware in 25 years.

the bass is perfectly fine for being, well, the bass. But if you want a s3&k track with an incredible bass then look no further than death egg zone!!
@@dspangs and OP - you really can't go wrong bass wise with any track from S3&K. Flying Battery and Sandopolis are a couple of my personal favorites

Oh btw, the white noise channel (the one used often for the hi-hats) is _PSG3,_ not PSG2

CHANNEL 2 GOT THROWN IN AND OH MY GOSH IT WAS COOL
I find it interesting how with Channels 2 and 4, it switches from alternating between the channels to it being just one.
This is the best soundtrack from that game (Sonic 3)!
