What if the government/the county governments did digging of earths to make such a vast ditches and secure them for a while, with the hope of once seeing the same grow to be a lake for people living in such a hot zones. Bring life back, its possible. See the birds, and that lake, hear the story of the residents who find livelihood here simply because some projects were done which caused a ditch that turns out to be a blessing today, as time passed went by... 1997 is not long....

The concerned government departments should work out ways to gradually expand it while planting forests around its shores to eventually provide this area with a natural air-conditioning environment. Good work with this Eye-opener.

Having lived in Wajir Town for five years i can say this is a great resource which can be utilized by the county Government but i don't believe the water is viable for large farming but can sustain small farms and some domestic use for the water. It's dangerous also swimming in the lake, I've witnessed so many people die in the lake. Like some months ago we lost a clinical worker at the place. They say the quarry miners left so many metals and scrap inside the same that entrap someone if you dive inside. The county Government should protect the place. Several wildlife come to drink water there.

Experts who studied the 'lake' say its as results of water from Wajir wells swamping in to the quarry creating a semi permanent lake thus making wajir Wells to dry up.

I have been there last year. There are no business activities around the place owing to harassment from the military personnel who consider business premises as a security breach. The county should do landscaping around it and construct permanent cemented seats in the vicinity for local tourists to view in comfort. The forest department need to prune and shape those shrubs beside the lake to give it a good look. The military camp should be relocated to Wagalla airstrip to spruce up airport business.
