awesome shit as usual, paulie! i remember tryin that beer when i visited the states myself; really digged that silky, yet rugged taste of the foam so, ya still down to give kamenitza a shot tho
Nice review Paul. Imo American beers always taste like fairy liquid. sam Adams is about the best of the lot. I had a pint of Pabst blue ribbon new on draft in my local battle cruiser in leigh on sea last weekend £3.90 a pint but it tasted like peckham spring water!. Anyway love the channel. Would love to see you review warsteiner, krombacher and spAten german pilsners.
Thanks for the review Paul. I really enjoy Boston Lager myself. Glad you got to tour the brewery. How did you like the tunnel system up there in Boston? Quite an engineering feat. I don't know all the lingo and terms, i just know what i like. I've been drinking European imports since i was a young'n. So when Samuel Adams started brewing, it was nice to finally have an American lager which compared to the complex European style beers i enjoyed. I can however, on occasion, enjoy an American style lager. It's got to be ice cold though.
Thanks for watching buddy. Really enjoyed Boston, the tunnel system was pretty good, not as busy as the tube here in England so that was nice. Sam Adams Boston Lager is a classic and being able to drink it at the source was an awesome experience. Well recommended if you haven’t visited yet.
Original Boston Lager was perfect, perfectly balanced, a beautiful thing, my favorite beer by far. This remastered is just OK, more hoppy, bitter. I don't get why they needed to changed it. It makes me sad. I sincerely wish they would come back with the original BL. The remastered isn't a bad beer but I just miss the perfection that was in the original. Keep this one on the market if you like but I won't buy it. Please bring back OG Boston Lager. Maybe keep them both. Coke went back to the original, I hope the same happens here.
I agree. They took a great beer and as you say it is now merely OK, which can be said of a multitude of beers. Boston Lager was special, and now it isn't.
Haven't seen your reviews in a while man, enjoying these American ones. Used to get 6 packs of sam adams in a local offy. Loved the stuff but again theyve stopped selling it.
Well Paul, after walking through the unforgiving, unapologetic, valley of death, you made it to the Holy Land. We were wondering when you were going to introduce yourself to the Boston Lager. After consuming all that Yankee bucket slop swill - and kindly "taking one/many for the team" - sacrificing yourself like you did for the good of UA-cam, you inadvertently prepped your palate for the Boston Lager, making it memorable. Ain't it great realizing you actually saved yourself by enduring that "lager hardship" and rewarding yourself with a Samuel Adams legend? Let us hope and pray your next selection is a dandy as well.
My kids love America for Universal and Walmart, my wife loves shopping and Walmart, I love Sam Adams... and Walmart. Really good beer, can't get it in Ireland though.
The sam adams glass is amazing. It was made for Boston lager specifically. It is tthe coolest most comfortable glass to hold and i got mine at Total wine for 10 dollars
I can imagine. I remember first trying an imported bottle of it about 10 years ago, maybe more. I loved it. Still really enjoy now but the stuff we get in the UK just doesn’t compare.
I loved Samuel Adams Boston Lager for a long time. The remastered formula was OK, but now there is a beer scam going on. The packaging and bottle have changed with lots of red up close to the cap. Beware of that beer as it tastes like crap. It is not the same beer. The bad beer comes from a local distributor in my area called Keg1. Just 12 miles away I can still get the good beer from Grellner Distributing. If the company is trying to boost profits by changing to the "bad beer" it will not work. The public will not stand for it. I finally was able to contact their HR department and the woman there assumed I had gotten ahold of a "bad batch." NO. I am seeing a company switch to cheaper ingredients in order to make more money.
Interesting. I tried it for the first time today and found it noticeably less flavorful than the Samuel Adams Boston Lager I have known for decades. Greatly disappointing. It's almost like they tried to blunt the distinctive flavor to appeal to a broader customer base that finds lighter, less flavorful beer more "approachable," whatever that means.
We get mugged off here in the UK. I used to like this beer a lot when it came from the USA. When it was brewed here i stopped thinking itll be brewerd to an inferior standard unless brewed by a small brewery who really value standards.
Sam Adams isn't too bad. I like the real lagers. The German ones that follow the purity law. Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbrauhaus, Lowenbrau, Paulaner, and Spaten. These are on the shelves right near the Sam Adams. Way better quality.
Boston Lager has been my favorite for decades. No longer. They brag that it is now "easier drinking" if that tells you anything. That's Bud Light's selling point as well. They've taken what was once a great beer and made it less great, and that's sad.
Wells used to be the UK brewer and you could always detect the house character. Love the stuff brewed in the u.s., it was always my go to, still often is. It's hard to overstate how much that beer was the real catalyst of the craft movement in the 90's. Brilliant strategy- complex, 'premium', yet still familiar and accessible.
The brewery guy doesn't know what hes talking about. Its on the website and multiple interviews that its the same ingredients but a different brewing technique called biological acidification and it helps change the PH of the beer and it tones down the rough flavors from the husks. They did this because Germany is using the same method in todays beers. The old Boston lager was brewed using the krausening process which is what Germans did for a long time but now they don't because they do it biologically now. So they are trying to keep up w Germany because it is a German lager.
Wish you could’ve tried Yuengling when you were here brother. I can send you some, how can I get in touch?
Loving these American reviews. You seriously got to do a Shiner Bock.
Really looking forward to the comparison video! Cheers! 🍻
awesome shit as usual, paulie! i remember tryin that beer when i visited the states myself; really digged that silky, yet rugged taste of the foam
so, ya still down to give kamenitza a shot tho
I’ll certainly have a look for it

Sam Adams and Yuengling are about the best of the widely available American lagers. Although I think Yuengling is only really common on the East coast
You guys really need to venture out more in the American craft lagers. Supermarket beer choices are not it!

He explained why it was changed in the video

Makes me think about Newcastle getting bought out and becoming another damn Hipster beer.
Bring back the OG Newcastle in clear bottles! 😤

Sounds fantastic!
I literally just drank a 6 last night and it was amazing. You can get 12 packs at any grocery store for 15 16 bucks.
Hello where are you in Boston ? Been watching your reviews for 3 years and love to treat you out for an pint
Appreciate that my friend. Unfortunately I’m now back in England. Maybe next time. I will be back in Boston soon
I first drank this ale, in 1996.
Samuel Adams is a lager, not an ale.
had it before they updated it and loved it then tried it after the update and didn't like it as much
It isn't as good. It was my go to beer for decades. I'm sad they went and screwed it up.
I recommend Samuel Adam’s Summer Lager
Dude it's called Summer Ale 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sam Adams was the best the first couple of years it came out. It went down hill a bit later on.
I can imagine. I remember first trying an imported bottle of it about 10 years ago, maybe more. I loved it.

Well you are improving. A good sign. LOL

If you think it's great today you would have loved it 20 years ago before Jim Koch fucked with the recipe

Love this comment. Cheers for contributing Scott, hope all is well at Fell 🍻

I didn't know that's how the Krauts were doing it today. Doesn't make me hate it any less; it tastes like a freaking sour
