Hey everyone, thank you all so much for helping my dub of this comic reach a million views! This is still the most complex sound design project I've ever undertaken on this channel and it's the one I'm most proud of to this day. It really means a lot that so many of you have watched, commented on and enjoyed my work to this degree on both dubs of the official comics and I hope that you'll continue to stick with me as I make more in the future. Thank you!
But he kills people who stand up to him too and annoy him, and he clearly gets a kick out of traumatizing the denizens of hell whether innocent or not daily. He is evil.
I love how calm/happy Alastor is throughout the entire comic (even when murdering) but when he sees Vox he just starts cursing under his breath and ranting out of annoyance and anger.
I genuinely can't say what part of this is more disturbing. When he's being civil or when he's actually being disturbing. He's like a landmine in a nice suit
Seems a bit of both, he probably wants people to fear him enough to leave him alone (or at least not constantly try to kill/overthrow him) but not to be terrified and run for the hills when he has not (yet) given them any reason to. A ruthless killer he may be but he still seems to love having a social life.
It's similar to what happens with introverts: Alastor would happily sew most of people's lips to shut them up, but he himself would like a good chat other times with good company.

@idiot gaming, Actually alastor would win even in 3 v 1 because vox, Valentino, and that other girl are only powerful in the business industry and not very strong in terms of actual power alastor would win but Charlie would fuck him up Since she’s the daughter of Lucifer.
This is why i love characters like this. There’s always something to set them off. And i love how fast they can switch from calm and social to absolutely serious and terrifying
It's odd. I've been thinking a lot about Alastor's character, and what actually made him such a powerful and ominous demon to begin with. It's confirmed that he was a serial killer in life, as well as a cannibal, but also that he had a moral code. He wouldn't harm children, or, as we see in the comics and the pilot, even most people he meets. That makes me wonder what his "type" must have been in life, because he never goes after any of the people who'd make easy targets. Rather, he normally ends up defending them from his preferred prey: those who DO take advantage of the easy targets. This might be why he has such a distaste for Vox, although the two avoid confrontation. I might be reading a little too much into this, but I feel as though Alastor was the type of peron that enacted his own special brand of justice on those he felt deserved it, brutally cutting them to pieces and eating the more savory bits when they attracted his ire. And if that's TRUE, why did he really choose to help Charlie with her Hazbin Hotel? Was it genuinely just a desire to entertain himself by watching the denizens of hell fail again and again to better themselves, or does he secretly want to see if she can actually pull it off?
I love your analogy so much, and it makes a lot of sense. In the pilot, Vaggie mentions Alastor murdering overlords and broadcasting it, so maybe that’s just another part of him serving his brutal way of justice to those that take advantage of others. I definitely see Al as more of an anti-hero than a villain.
@@InkiBlues @Sam Sartwell I agree. And if what he does is actually his way of “serving justice”, then even though it’s INCREDibly twisted, I can’t help but kind of agree with it. I too have never really seen him to be the villain of the show. Definitely an antagonist, but not a villain. I believe the other overlords are the ones who will actually cause the most setbacks in the show.
or a facade some killers in real life do an act to make them seem like nice people who you can trust and fell safe around in order to lure in there next victim like John Wayne Gacy the first killer clown
I love how Al just pulls a hat out of nowhere just so he can tip it to the ladies. You don't ever see him wear it he just gets it out for that one scene and then tosses it to them as a gift. That's some serious confidence and class.
@@stingerjohnny9951 Kinda of but no where near as tough on chicken like it is on pork, ,lamb, venison and beef so you don't need to remove it from chicken. It's a silvery thin membrane of connective tissue that no matter how much you cook it it'll stay very tough and chewy. If you've ever cooked a rack of ribs you'll see it on the underside holding all the ribs together, though it's present in plenty of other cuts too.
"Alastor" is Ancient Greek for "he who does not forget", thus "avenger", "persecutor", "tormenter", "one who suffers from divine vengeance". It is similar to "Alastair", which is the Scottish form of Alexander, which means "protector of mankind". What do you guys think? Is he some twisted form of savior?
I think so. It's confirmed that Alastor has his own moral code about 'who to kill'. In combination with his name and what we see in the comic, i see a pattern here. I think he is not completely evil as some may see him. Your opinion on that, Riley?
Why does this make me think of Lucifer....like not even bullshit I’m thinking Lucifer from this. Also I’m starting think Alastor could be a greek god. (Not this Alastor but like the original idea of Greek myth Alastor.) Edit: holly fucking shit he is! According to google Alastor, an epithet of the Greek god Zeus, according to Hesychius of Alexandria and the Etymologicum Magnum, which described him as the avenger of evil deeds, specifically familial bloodshed. As the personification of a curse, it was also a sidekick of the Erinyes.

I just realized two of the radio tunes heard from Alastor’s aura are used by Disney for the queue line of the Tower of Terror. I applaud that choice. It’s creepy and it’s time period appropriate.
On one hand, he’s a guy humming a lovely little tune. On the other hand, he’s the most feared and powerful soul in Hell who could turn you into a fine red mist if he thinks it’d be entertaining.
@@benc.delacruz1813 he’s one of the most powerful sinners in hell. He’s outclassed by the Ars Goetia, the Seven Princes, Charlie, and of course Lucifer.

@@drsladic101 I dont think he had anything to do with his death, they dislike eachother because of their opposing views on technology. Vox likes new technology while alastor doesnt like anything made past the 30s
This is genuinely so fucking good. Comic dubs have a habit of being unprofessional and cringey due to being incredibly over-acted. This is wonderful and all the sounds are so well mixed. I love it!
Right, I agree. In one dub of this comic that somebody made, they made Alastor sound like some over exaggerated god with the echo effect and everything. I don’t know but it was annoying as hell and he wasn’t even in his form so that made it even more useless and annoying. They usually do good/alright though. This is it: ua-cam.com/video/8ziCSdbHyf0/v-deo.html
I love how Alastor acts. He just acts like every other demon and pretends nobody is running away from him because they're scared of him, pretends he's not an overlord. Only when he's threatened or someone else is threatened for no reason will he show his power and actually be intimidating.
Seeing the end scene gives me a new head canon/fan theory of Alastor and Niffty’s relationship. I think Alastor stumbled upon Niffty getting assaulted(either in Hell or in life), and murdered and ate the assailant. Instead of horrified or disgusted Niffty is grateful and vows to stay by Al’s side. Alastor is amused by this at first, but they slowly become close friends and he lets it be known throughout all of Hell that to fuck with Niffty in anyway into incur the wrath of the Radio Demon. Not many know about Niffty, and those that do just think she’s some runt on Alastor’s payroll. However, those like Rosie know better.
I think it's more likely that they crossed path in hell, since their time of death are rather far apart (Al in the 30's, Nifty in the 50's). But your theory is very plausible, since unlike Husk, Nifty doesn't give a damn if Alastor summons her for a "job"-either indicating her loyalty or her ignorance(?). Maybe in future episodes or the second part of this comic, we'll see how their dynamics with each other and what made them work together in the beginning. Viv did state that Alastor's relation with Rosie is similar to Mary Poppins and Jack's, so Rosie might know more about Alastor than most demons.
There's probably going to be a lot of Mexican inspiration in he'll becuse of the "Dia De Los Muertos" and because things like that, that would be cool tho
@@DoomSlayer-gj8qb they've gotta have some *BAD* blood then. In the pilot alone he destroyed a guy just because he interrupted his song and he *STILL* didn't curse.
@@barely_stable_productions I've think Vivzie once commented on a stream that if Alastor were to frown, "nobody will make it out alive" or smthng similar like that. In short, she's sayin is nobody could survive Alastor if he were to frown. I'm not stating this as facts, just something i've heard.
Probably (and this is my own personal theory based on established lore/art), hes loosely based off of the wendigo. An extremely terrifying and powerful (ie, literally immortal) cannibalistic spirit found in legends of Canada (where I'm from/live) and the northern United states.
I kinda feel bad for him, when people just run away when he’s just saying hi, i mean being feared is clearly easier than being loved, but it must be tiresome.
My theory is that he both gets tired of it and enjoys it. Alastor isn't the type of person who'd try to befriend anyone, but he definetily wants demons to respect him more, rather than being scared shitless/rude to/underestimate him-reciopating his friendly, polite behaviour back (if he chose to be friendly and polite, that is). Although, he does use that fear to his advantage (and entertaiment) sometimes, and doesn't give a shit to certain behaviour, since it's hell and there's always nasty people there-so why bother? So, imo, Alastor wants more "respect" rather than unreasonable fear yet uses their fear for his own profit sometimes. He doesn't want to eradicate that fear, but he rather see that fear morph into respect at times.
I think he's more disgusted and disappointed that the butcher was such a jerk... Mind you, since it's Hell, the butcher will eventually reform, but he'll definitely remember EVERYTHING Alastor did to him!
Just like real life psychopaths do,contrary to most recurring stereotypes about them, not all psychopaths are criminals or serial killers, actually the vast majority of them live relatively ordinary lives, they also tend to be quite charming and successful
I wonder if Alastor loves others being scared of him or if he would rather say hello withount everyone running away from him. He never really shows any emotions... 🤔
Seems kind of weird seeing Vaggie having the balls to point a spear at him and curse him out and Husk having the balls to yell at him after looking at this comic since he's widely feared.
@@avacadotoast5571 it also seems that Husk and Alastor are working long enough for Alastor to form a bond with Husk and call him friend. And Husk on the other hand knows that even if he says something about Al, he will not be injured.

Thank you for the lovely entertainment, was not disappointed in the least
Honestly, this comic has given my a theory: Al’s first victim was his abusive father. I mean, just think: A teenage/young adult Alastor walks home after work. When he gets to his family’s house, he hears screaming and pleading, along with a man’s rough yells. He rushes in to find his mother dying on the floor. His father, the man who tormented him his entire life, is covered with her blood and looking annoyed and angry. Al, horrified and enraged by what just happened, takes up a knife and stabs him. Once, twice, three times, Al’s father falls lifeless onto the floor. But that isn’t enough. There’s more work to be done. Years and years later, as Al is walking out of the butcher’s shop, he hears similar cries for help. He stops in his tracks, a smile plastered on his face, and remembers everything that happened that night. Then he turns around and opens the door. Never is there rest for an avenger of bloodshed.
@@umapessoa240 His mother probably went to heaven, but I can definitely see Al finding his father and setting him out for the angels to kill on extermination day.
To be honest, I don’t think it would have been difficult to make friends with him. We do get some important information from this comic. Mainly that he doesn’t actually lay doom upon all hell all the time, but lives a „normal” afterlife. We learn that he is a big fan of ol’ 20’s music (no shit), hates TV, has a big respect for women and just seeks for a polite and an interesting conversation. So let’s say that Charlie already got a head start.
wanna know how badass it would be to be friends with him? like someones attacking you and al just shows up and says "Hello (insert name)!" And youll be like "Hey Alastor this guy is a bit rude can you do me a favor and shape him up?"

It's amazing how the sound design can give a story an entirely new and unique vibe all on it's own. I loved it- especially the second half. Even though it was short, it really REALLY drew me into the story. I especially loved the parts where his normal voice peeked through.
Fantastic work! From the music, to the effects, to the voices, to the way you blend them all together... your ability to create atmosphere is top level!
Ikr, I seen another dub video too but that wasn't nearly as good as this video. Both the voice acting and the atmosphere/background sounds are great. I love it!
@ewok king If you're referring to the episode of Helluva Boss, it's a little more extreme than just 1 sin. She killed her husband, tried to kill the woman he was cheating with, and then killed herself. Also, she might have possibly killed one of her students by launching them through the roof of the schoolhouse.
1. This comic confirms Alastor chaotic neutral- he has his own twisted sense of justice. He saved the sheep demon from the butcher, but his focus was more on punishing him, and less on saving her. (She was clearly disturbed and traumatized by what Alastor did. And Al didn’t try to comfort her or ask if she was okay. He just left.) 2. This confirms Al is a cannibal? The last panels seemed to imply the butcher was in the bloody carry out bag. At the very least, he doesn’t disprove of canablism. The ladies of the Cannibal Colony are the only demons who were happy to see Alastor. 3. There are situations where Alastor will swear. 4. Hopefully the Hel-lo will be a running gag with Alastor 5. It seems like Alastor wants have friends but he isn’t willing to change his behavior. He feed the demonic crows, knowing full well that would cause them to become aggressive. I would like to note that right after the rose wilting panel and the failed attempt to have a conversation, he went to the Cannibal colony where he is adored. So does that mean it bothers him that the average demons runs in fear when they see him? Or does he just find it annoying that the response to his hel-lo is fleeing? Is he bothered by the fact that the only demons who enjoy his presence are Alastor Fangirls? Unfortunately, it’s impossible to read Alastor’s emotions since they are hidden by his permanent smile.
He was going to rape her. Plain and simple. You don't need to get on someone to butcher them for meat. This make sense. Canonically Al is mama's boy who lived in southern US in jim crow era and her mother was a minority...this kind of abuse to them is very plausable.
About point 1.. I mean.. this is hell, you see people getting brutally murdered every day.. most likely the girl wasn't scared of that Al did or how.. most likely just what was gonna happen to her, or maybe, maybe.. she also got kinda scared by him itself (ok it is hell, people have altered demon forms, but his upgrade is quite something..), other than that, she was ok so why would he step to ask her if she was ok or whatever?.. he may be strong but he's not the absolute strongest, in his position you cannot step down to calm down a crying kid or whatever crap like that.. you cannot show youself weak, in any way. Or at least that's how I saw that :3
I like to think he took up hunting just to make sure his Mom had the best ingredients to work with, especially since she presumably taught him how to cook (he did cook his mother's jambalaya recipe). Alastor may not give a fuck about most people (outside of women needing respect), but I like to think that once he DOES give a fuck, he's a generous dude.
@@Razshagaul Also that girl he saves was the only one in the comic that seemed genuinely nice to him. The guy is an entertainer but no one wants to be around him. Which makes it all the more sad that she's very likely terrified of him now after he ate the butcher.

i like to think this is how Alastor really is, sure he may enjoy the suffering of others and may have killed alot of people, but you have to remember that Alastor seems to be on the "Gentleman" side of the spectrum, so he has his standards, of which more than likely include respecting "those of fairer means" which i assume is his way of saying "respecting women"
I thought "fairer means" was referring to more innocent people, people who are not part of the criminal world, or those who would be targeted by the criminal world. Like many people have said so far, Alastor seems to be a serial killer whose "type" is other criminals.
@@you_missed_the_joke3009 Relatively innocent. The part in the video where he saves the sheep demon thing is actually very interesting as in Greek mythology, Alastor is the minor god of family feuds and avenger of evil deeds. The avenger of evil deeds part certainly makes sense here and the family feuds could relate to the theory that his family wasn't particularly nice. This could be the reason for his name possibly. That is my take on this.

Was it genuinely just a desire to entertain himself by watching the denizens of hell fail again and again to better themselves, or does he secretly want to see if she can actually pull it off?
He probaly want to know what will come from that
(Sorry if my english is bad)
I love your analogy so much, and it makes a lot of sense. In the pilot, Vaggie mentions Alastor murdering overlords and broadcasting it, so maybe that’s just another part of him serving his brutal way of justice to those that take advantage of others. I definitely see Al as more of an anti-hero than a villain.
@@InkiBlues @Sam Sartwell I agree. And if what he does is actually his way of “serving justice”, then even though it’s INCREDibly twisted, I can’t help but kind of agree with it. Alastor you have delectable taste in food. Fat is for livestock.
Unless it’s silverside/corned beef. That shit needs the fat
well fat is much like more like bubblegum than the actual meat. its all taste less and more annoying.

"Alastor" is Ancient Greek for "he who does not forget", thus "avenger", "persecutor", "tormenter", "one who suffers from divine vengeance".
This would work if Niffty died in the 30s instead of the 50s when she was in her early 20s

Hey wait- this is two different things i like. Hazbin Hotel, and then you- YOU- your username and profile pic is 2-D. I like Gorillaz and Hazbin Hotel
Honestly, this comic has given my a theory: Al’s first victim was his abusive father. I mean, just think:
A teenage/young adult Alastor walks home after work.
Interesting theory.
Makes you wonder if his family is down in hell and if he met them. I doubt a serial killer would come from a heaven bound family.
@@umapessoa240 His mother probably went to heaven, but I can definitely see Al finding his father and setting him out for the angels to kill on extermination day.

Alastor: *Murder. Chaos. Carnage. Cannibalism. Evil.*
Also Alastor: *Respect women.*
It’s because in the 1930s and 40s men were taught to respect women, so it’d make sense, plus it’s a nice characteristic
It seems like Al just wants justice for the little guys of society, even if his means are... brutal.
I think it was more that this moment reminded him of his past and he wouldnt care otherwise since he is pretty loved by the cannibals who eat the weak
Bare in mind that they are literally in hell. Those "little guys" weren't exactly the most morally upstanding citizens, either.
He has a code that he doesn’t kill a fleeing enemy or children, he’s lawful evil you could say, which I think is really interesting!
I don't think he really cares
He just left.)
4. Hopefully the Hel-lo will be a running gag with Alastor
Or at least that's how I saw that :3
@ewok king you don't need to get on on someone to chop them

"Venison... Reminds me of simpler times."
Awww probs his mother's cooking.
Alastor is a deer demon. And he's friends with the cannibals. That says something, too, does it not?
I like to think he took up hunting just to make sure his Mom had the best ingredients to work with, especially since she presumably taught him how to cook (he did cook his mother's jambalaya recipe). Alastor may not give a fuck about most people (outside of women needing respect), but I like to think that once he DOES give a fuck, he's a generous dude.

the Day in the Afterlife comic Alastor said about Vox "All hat and no cattle"
Vox in the finale song said "Masterless Cattle" WHAT A THROWBACK/CALLBACK THAT WAS
My baby Alastor politely greeting people, feeding birds, picking flowers, supporting local meat shops, and standing up to bullies 🥺
We forgetiing what he ddi lol
i like to think this is how Alastor really is, sure he may enjoy the suffering of others and may have killed alot of people, but you have to remember that Alastor seems to be on the "Gentleman" side of the spectrum, so he has his standards, of which more than likely include respecting "those of fairer means" which i assume is his way of saying "respecting women"
I thought "fairer means" was referring to more innocent people, people who are not part of the criminal world, or those who would be targeted by the criminal world. Like many people have said so far, Alastor seems to be a serial killer whose "type" is other criminals.
@@lenny_has_arived6679 never knew there were innocent people in hell😂😂
@@you_missed_the_joke3009 Relatively innocent. I mean, you have people like Vaggie and Niffty there as well and they seem pretty innocent compared to many in hell, so there must be something going on there. Besides, not everyone in hell is going to be a rapist, murderer, thief, drug user, or something like those above. There are just too many people in hell for that.
Well apparently heaven is overpopulated so that's why some innocent people get sent there
@@jamesward4596 this is worse. I mean God is an unfair psychopath in most holy books but damn isn't this make this version of him even more terrible. And what is the criteria to go to hell? This is going to be important in the series I think.
Fun fact: alastor is not pure evil, he’s still a fine gentleman inside. He’s just a fan of brutal violence.
Being a gentleman men doesn't make you less evil, it makes you more polite.
It's his strong moral compass that makes him less evil. And he's literally just like me I'm not evil but I am a fan of violence
3:23 That laugh track was soooo on point, just creepy but fascinating at the same time, this is an amazing work~♡
Agreed! 👍
The fun thing is you even hear it in pilot, when Husker is being aggressive towards alastor, and he gives Husker an honest and funny reply😂 honestly love how they included that detail in the dub
Can we talk about the fact that the butcher had the audacity to try and hack alastor with his meat cleaver
Lol
That wouldnt have done anything you know
@@FuelFire his brain: Maybe if I shove this into his skull, it would kill him. Or at the very least, buy me enough time to hide.

@@newyork1626 Oh no
Holy stuff, you captured this perfectly. The sound effects, the panel selection, the VOICE ACTING! Bloody amazing work
If there was ever unironically such a thing as “the supreme gentleman”, it’s gotta be Alastor.
This is by far the BEST comic dub I’ve ever seen. Voice acting is on point, the sound is very immersive, very professional. Amazing job.

@@nguyen5762 Or alastor x charlie lol. I'm not againt any ship but that's what will pop up for sure.
yeah
I just love how he's like "I'ma eat this man". Total cannibal boi
The sudden look Al had when the lamb/sheep started screaming for help might indicate he had a female figure in his living life that was abused? Maybe his mother? Idk, im just trying to give an educated guess or maybe I'm looking too deep into it. Any thoughts fellow commenters?
He is officially a mama's boy so.. yeah, I think so. Also what if it has something to do with his mother's death?
I just don’t think he likes when weaker, more innocent or kinder individuals are harmed by stronger individuals.
@Kray The Fin As far as I know they weren't in a relationship, they were friends and they lived in the same era. Mimzy was in love with Alastor but he only seen her as a friend, so it was one-sided. Too bad Mimzy isn't with a protagonists anymore, but who knows, maybe Vivzie has plans for her.
That makes sense. It was 1900s after all jim crow era and her mother was in southern US and a minority so... make sense
@Kray The Fin that’s what the wiki says and viv said don’t listen to the wiki lol al and mimzy are still very close you can check out her live streams before the pilot dropped
And I’m talking about the live streams that happened like in the same month the polit dropped not the really old ones-
This shows that alastor does have a bit of love in him... as miniscule it may be....
I think it's less "love" and more remorse.
Or maybe pity? Idk. I'm not sure.
@@subnauticaispog7580 I don't think so personally, I meant love as in like.... humanity or a bit of care
nah man i think he did it for the feeding-
@@wearelynnie3506 That actually makes way more sense then feelings or pity, I agree
I like the fact that half of the time Alastor was actually being really normal it seems he likes being scary but also seems lonely in a manner or he’s just downright evil.
1:55 can I just say I love the design of the Saxophone guy?
You absolutely killed it!! This man never misses!
PARANOiD DJ
You should consider ask for being added to the sound effects team for the show, your work is amazing!!

Alastor’s humming around the beginning was kinda enchanting tho...

It’s a slightly pitched up version of Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade”
Caught our attention right away when we first listened to this! Gave me shivers. Had to pause and calm my happiness for the rest for the vid!
Hahaha, I agree
I was just about to say that I love the way his humming sounds. Enchanting and a little creepy, just the way I like it.
Nah, you’re not wrong. It actually fits for someone like him. I hope he does it more often...
Alastor humming is so mesmerizing.
Okay I'm just gonna come out and say it. This is the best Hazbin Hotel Comic I think I've ever watched-
i know-
I love the idea that when Alastor is humming a song, the song is being played along.

...before this moment, i never had a meaning of true fear... but now i know how it feels
Am I the only who loves DJ's humming? Like it's nice to listen to for some reason and this comic is actually so good and you just made it 20 times better! I hope to see more like this in the future
I give Alastor props, on how he defended that lady and *Dealt* with the butcher.
This is officially one of the best dubs of this I've had the pleasure of watching! The sound and music choices are so fitting and the voice acting is just perfect! I simply adore all the hard work put into this ♥️♥️ Everyone involved did amazing
This has got to be one of the best comic dubs i have ever watched. The audio is amazing and the part where you could hear old timey music from Alastor plus him singing along is *chef kiss* c'est magnifique. This got a sub from me
C'est magnifique ! XD
Hell Yeah! That was amazing! I didn't even know there was a new comic until I saw that you were premireing this dub (I finished reading it before coming here). This was fantastic!! As your previous dubs have been the sound design is *chef's kiss*
The humming at the beginning was very nice, the subtle changes in voice when Al gets...SPOOKY. The subtle disappointment when the people run off before he can even finish saying hello.
Seriously, I love that this comic very subtly shows us the potential Al has for redemption. It won't be an easy road, but it's certainly crossable with a little time and a little help.
That humming is so....damn....soothing

i L.O.V.E the fear in the eyes of every demon that hears and looks at Alastor, that really tells you about the reputation he has created for himself!
Well as a man of the 20s he has some morals, as he would defend a lady's honor, and woe to his victim for making him unnerved!
