You should listen to the live version he does that for 20 minutes. He makes his guitar sound like a orchestra. Anybody that watches it is blown away. Love your show keep up the good work :-)
Yes, if you want to see Eddie play the extended version live, checkout Eruption (live without a net tour in Las Vegas). You will be blown away. BTW - Slash and Carlos among many other guitarists give Eddie accolades for taking the guitar to another level. Guitarists learned and honed their skills when seeing what Eddie could do with a guitar. It’s arguable who the best guitarist is, but Eddie is definitely up there in the 1, 2 or 3 spot, at least by most.

The Frankenstrat, also known as "Frankie", is a guitar created by Eddie Van Halen. Its name is a portmanteau of Frankenstein, the fictional doctor who created a monster by combining body parts of the recently deceased, and the Stratocaster, a model of electric guitar made by Fender. The Frankenstrat was Van Halen's attempt to combine the sound of a classic Gibson guitar with the physical attributes and tremolo bar functionality of a Fender Stratocaster. An early version of a Superstrat, the guitar was made from a Northern Ash Stratocaster body, with pickup routing which Van Halen modified to fit a Gibson PAF humbucking pickup in the bridge position. The guitar has a maple neck and fretboard, chrome hardware, and was painted with a white over black design. This gave the appearance of a white guitar with black stripes. Your journey will not truly have begun until you see the 1986 Live Without a Net Eruption solo. Once you get through the first 4 minutes after the initial 316 kickoff to the solo, you'll start to see what I'm talking about after that 4 minutes on. Ed solos tended to be a compilation of various intros and solos in a lot of their songs and over the years he added bits and pieces to it. This era and the guitar he was using at the time in my view personified his tone and the pinnacle of a person and a musical instrument being in harmony with each other. My opinion of course, but when you start to hear the parts of Unchained and Cathedral you might understand why it's not just a guitar anymore. Eruption part of the solo actually starts at around 4:28, Cathedral at 5:25, 6:20 will then probably have you trying to guess what's going on. 7:45, Unchained. I can name everything else in between before during and after, but I picked out some of the fun parts that usually leave people wondering what they just heard and how.
