    I'm sorry, but I have to correct you on one thing. Mussolini was arrested in 1943, but he then got freed by the germans when they occupied Italy (in a pretty spectacular way, being him imprisoned on a mountaintop). Then they placed him as head of a Fascist Puppet State, Salò Social Republic. His liberation and the formation of this State are what divided Italy in a long and bloody civil war. And that is the main reason why Italy got milder surrender terms than the others axis powers, being that some Italian regions freed themselves. When the Allies started winning, some Italian Resistance Fighters stopped Mussolini while he was fleeing in Switzerland in 1945. Only then he was executed, and not by his soldiers

      His father was a socialist (left wing, akin to bolshevik) activist. Benito Mussolini himself had been the head of the left wing of the italian socialist party (which means the revolutionary, pro-bolshevik faction. The other wing was social-democratic, non revolutionary) until the beginning of ww1. he was expelled for having become an interventionist in ww1 (which was against the italian socialist credo, pacifist and internationalist). So he created a left wing version of nationalism in 1919, calling it Fascism. And this first version was very leftist as well, shifting more to the right only eventually

    • @abandonedchannel281
      @abandonedchannel281 5 років тому +7

      Bruno Giordan Well there’s far more to this, It wasn’t just Mussolini getting upset over one thing. He became very anti-socialist by 1919. Around the time he and Gentile who both wrote the Doctrine Of Fascism openly stated they were right wing and fascist throughout history are known for being heavily anti-communist/anarchist/socialist

    • @brunogiordan1662
      @brunogiordan1662 5 років тому

      Rehan Zainul Abdeen I was exclusively explaining the origin of his first name and of his roots. To a foreigner it may appear strange that Mussolini was named after a revolutionary leader. Surely there is more, I know well the developments he had later, but this is a youtube channel. Plenty of documents do exist and plenty of books can be read on what he did as the political leader of Fascism, however i can only briefly say we will never know the true story of Fascism since the English Secret Service and the Vatican seized all the secret dossiers he had with him when he was caught by communist partisans in 1945 and swifly executed. The circumstances of his shooting and of the disappearance of an entire small truck of documents and his documents bag are murky at best. Much of such documents were told by him to be fundamental to understand his actions. In Italy we still have plenty of books either writeen by survivors or from historians, much of them politically biased, but the public history of Fascism, (excluding the above said secret diplomacy) is well documented

    • @abandonedchannel281
      @abandonedchannel281 5 років тому +1

      Bruno Giordan I think Historians even with some bias are correct despite the lose of documents, I understand some historians are political and deliberately skew misinformation like certain Cold War era historians who would give unrealistic death tolls to both the Americans and Soviets but I think enough time has passed given how many historians have studied Mussolini to agree with what our understanding is

    • @brunogiordan1662
      @brunogiordan1662 5 років тому

      @@abandonedchannel281 It is not so. I have studied extensively labor law and italian law, in terms of labor politics of the Fascist period historians are still fighting among themselves, there will never be consensus on what Mussolini did in this field. Especially because he acted during the worst period of the twentieth century, when a worldwide crisis made economic policies difficult to everybody. The only consensus among historians lies in criticizing the long dictatorship, but Fascist leaning historians agree only in part (actually Mussolini's dictatorship was criticized by his faithful ones even after the first fall of Fascism in 1943. The Social Republic debate even saw proposals to reintroduce political parties, or an organic democracy) And this is only an example. Some quote certain data, some other point out others to paint Mussolini's political enterprises as failures or successes etc.. So the same phenomenon can be called a success or a failure according to the political bias of the historian. Political bias is evident in most writings, if not in the works of De Felice and his followers, who are still branded as crypto-fascists by many other historians because of their neutrality.It must be said that his mixed economy system was maintained after ww2 by left leaning Christian Democrats like Moro and Fanfani, his former adversaries, men who didn't spare him criticism in other fields. Every month or so a new book comes out on Fascism and for the most part any new book will be critical of past works by other historians. It gets quite annoying since Italian history spans at least 2500 years and Fascism lasted just 23 years in full power. I would be very happy if our historians wrote more on other periods ...

    He wasn't killed by his own soldiers but was actually killed by Communist Partisans. Not sure where you got that one from.
    Also there was more to what happened, they didn't just rise up and rebel, the King/Monarchists(or Loyalists) thrown a civil war allying also with the Communist partisans that were notoriously running through the streets during the Social Republic. @LEGI0N Wolf Bulgaria joined after German pressure ? No. Bulgaria, lay on the periphery of an Italian European sphere of influence. Bulgaria, which claimed Greece's northern territories. During the late 1920s and early 1930s, Mussolini sought diplomatically to create "an Italian-dominated Balkan bloc that would link Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, and Hungary". Venizelos countered the policy with diplomatic agreements among Greek neighbours and established an "annual Balkan conference, so they had their interests they didn't go out alone because the Greeks could be defended by the Turks.
      Another example to fortify what i just said is the Greco-Turkish Friendship Convention in 1930. This process culminated in the signature of the Balkan Pact between Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey and Romania, which was a counter to Bulgarian revisionism.
      ''Greek lines were spread thin'' True (also out of supplies)
      ''so the Germans broke through'' False
      Most of the Greek divisions were positioned do defend against the Italians.
      With most of the Greek army on the Albanian border, Operation Marita began through Bulgaria.
      As an example of this to fortify what i just said...''Greek command was forced to withdraw forces from Eastern Macedonia and Western Thrace, because Greek forces could not protect Greece's entire border. The Greek command decided to support its success in Albania, regardless of the risk of a German attack from the Bulgarian border'' - United States Army Center of Military History - Blau George- 1986
      '' the Italians declared war with 1/10 of their required supplies!
      '' So with this very childish thing that you just tried to do i must assume that you are Greek...
      But i will awnser in a civilized manner even with your yelling...
      The italian inteligence didn't knew that Greece would be helped by Britain. They were prepared to take down greece only. Simple as that. Also another fun fact...Greece was warned by British inteligence to get ready for an italian invasion before it came and the British Royal air Force later on made an HQ on Greece and supplied them with even shoes...
      That was the suprise for the italians...They had supplies to take down Greece quickly but Greece only, and that only was calculated by italian inteligence. (In witch i agree was a mistake, they should be prepared to the unforseen)

    Mussolini had way more many children if u include the ones outside the marriage. There is even a very famous TV presenter here in Italy called Bruno Vespa (that kind of looks like him) that many people say is a child of Mussolini, because her mother worked in the hotel where Mussolini slept in the last weeks of war (he was born 9 month after including other coincides). One time in a talk show while he was presnting the debate got heated and Alessandra Mussolini to ease the tension said jokingly to him "come on let's stop arguing, we are relatives after all." The studio froze.

      Romanovs were hit and miss, as it usually is with German rulers, Alexander II tried to better his country, Alexander III was medieval, and Nicholas II just didn't care to govern - even when his inaguration procession stampeded hundreds of peasants to death or when protesting peasants with icons and his portraits were shot like ducks. Still, nothing excuses the commies mass murdering children - but it's even more silly for russian church to canonize him. And people who now worship Nicholas worship Lenin, his murderer, too.

    Random trivia: Alessandra has a son. She appealed to court and church to give him a double surname (her's & her husband's), which was outside of Italian custom. The son now plays football for the U19 team of Lazio, a club with history of far-right supporter base. On Sofascore, Transfermarkt etc, he is listed with his paternal surname (and to answer everyone's inevitable burning question, not as a right winger 😁).
    Obv he's not responsible for what his great-grandpa did or the club ultras did. Stadium chants and media headlines gonna be a riot though if/when he ends up a popular senior player…
