Was it a set afternoon tea… no extra helpings? Shame about the poor customer service at a venue like this when you’re going to be paying quite a lot for the experience of eating there. I won’t be going but I do like to watch videos of other people’s experiences, even if it is a poor show from the venue. Thanks!
I wasn’t offered anything extra but there also wasn’t really anybody around to ask either. I loved the grounds and gardens but for me an afternoon tea is not just amount the food but also the cost, the venue, environment and customer care. It’s a 5 star hotel so to me it wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought the building and architecture were beautiful. Thanks for watching and the support! Have a lovely week! 🤗
@@josatkin around 2017/2018 I used to enjoy going for afternoon tea. Then one day I realised I was paying mainly for carbs (flour and sugar), water, and the venue. So I haven’t been since. I live vicariously through these sorts of videos because I enjoy watching other people’s experiences and not having to pay for it! 🫣☺️
Hi Jos, it’s not acceptable their lack of grace and customer service. For a 5 star hotel…..not good! It didn’t look busy, that’s for sure! I applaud you for staying for the tea….I might have turned on my heel and walked out….we have so many choices of where to spend our hard earned dollars. You handled yourself with grace..thank you for sharing your experience as always! ❤
Hi thanks I’m sure they were having an off day but not what I was expecting as a paying guest and straight as I arrived to the venue. The actual restaurant only had me in it and a couple. It was my personal experience and I’m sure everyone had different situations there but I’ve not been treated in that way in any other afternoon teas ever either before I had YT or since. Very bizarre but I would say the grounds are utterly beautiful. I hope you have a really lovely week! 🤗
The grounds are stunning but unfortunately the customer service and treatment when I arrived as a paying guest was not what I expected so I wouldn’t go back for afternoon tea. It’s a shame but I think it’s important to be honest about my experience. I’m sure they’re great but it wasn’t the case when I arrived.
I took my Mum here last week for her birthday and we had an amazing afternoon. The staff were really welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. It sounds as though you caught them on an off day. There were numerous staff in the restaurant during our visit and we were also offered a refill of sandwiches. I’m sorry your experience wasn’t great x
I’m glad you and your Mum had a lovely experience which is great. Unfortunately the unwelcome experience I had, started when I was met at my car before I even got out and continued throughout which was a real shame and quite unexpected. Everyone has an off day and understandable but it’s a shame that I had it from multiple staff members as soon as I pulled up. Did you have a fave sandwich? I noticed the lack of staff, which was odd. I was also annoyed with the way the cakes were presented - to have a swirl of cream underneath a cake, directly on the serving dish seems messy. I’ve seen delicate cakes with a little square of paper/foil beneath to save that situation. It felt like they hadn’t given the presentation much thought. With all that said, the grounds looked beautiful and your filming style was lovely.
Yes the grounds were stunning and the brief part of the house I looked round looked nice too but I wasn’t comfortable continuing to walk around the venue tbh. Loved the savoury eclair too 😋
Hey Jo, have you had your hair done? It looks lovely. I was excited to see high tea at Cliveden but I was disappointed to hear about the service and well…the portions were tiny! Anyway, I did appreciate all those lovely panning shots of the scenery, beautiful 👏

I think as a paying customer and being ignored and generally felt quite unwelcome was not a great start to the experience and something I've not experienced before. But we all have an off day but it wouldn't make me rush back to have another afternoon tea. The venue is beautiful though! 🤗

Cliveden, is a beautiful, exquisite domain. I was there for a couple of days during a wedding, the staff are polite and the food was amazing!

the Glasshouse at the GROVE hotel, when you have the time, truly outstanding. The best customer service. Cliveden looked a bit meh...😒
YT channel Gary Eats just did a video there eating at the all you can eat buffet. It’s a very good and thorough video.
