- Mid length, 6 channel.
The Mid6 range has been designed to give maximum performance in all wave types. The fine round pin tail, curvy plan shape, smooth rocker, with a bit of nose flip, comfortably fits the wave face even when deep in the pocket.
The thruster or quad fin setup works with six channels for a positive feel in even the suckiest waves.
High nose rails and blowhard in the tail foiled from the centre for a nice balance of drive through sections while maintaining hold through tight turning arcs. While the Mid6 fires in ever days surf, it it tunes enough to handle serious surf conditions comfortably.
That was brilliant and inspiring. I’m gonna go and buy one now.
Always a pleasure watching you rip🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Temptation borderline unbearable, thanks a lot Harley!
That's full on sick! Surfing, board, van...
Such Clean lines there mate! looks so good
I would kill to be able to surf with such style as you!!
Cheers mate
The description of the board on the Firewire website and how Harley describes the board in other videos in completely accurate instead of being the usual marketing spiel that doesn't live up to the hype. The board goes just like it says on the tin. Riding the 7'6" at 89 kgs and 59 years old and super impressed with the boards speed through turns and its looseness off the tail while having the glide when standing forward to trim.
💪🏼💪🏼
Just picked up my 7’0 a couple weeks ago just in time for this last south swell in Southern California. Something that struck me when I saw the board was how hard the rails are from the tail to the midpoint so I was curious about how it would perform. First, at 40 liters it paddles really well so I was able to catch more waves while still able to duck dive. Also, the board can turn in a really tight radius which I think is in part to those hard rails so no worry about maneuverability. I rode my medium AL Merrick quad fins because that’s all I have on hand. Looking forward to trying out different fins to make it more drivey. Loving this board so far!
Stoked!
@@harleyingleby 🏄♂
Does it work I average small beach break? All the midlength videos are in pumping point breaks.
He is so smooth ❤it
Had mine delivered yesterday. 7’. Bought AM2 medium, and AM Twin with stabiliser. Been riding a 6’4” Cymatic for the last 3 years, so really excited to see how it goes. Interesting that your board has less volume than the Cymatic
Enjoy mate. Get yourself some reactor medium quad rears to pair with those AM at some point.. 👌🏼
@@harleyingleby haven’t been able to get reactor quad. What would you suggest?
@@glenncraig8616 get performer med quad rears
@@harleyingleby alright you got me sold on these. If u dont mind me asking, what's your height and weight and how big was the board you r riding here? I'm 6'1 and 90 kg. Thanks! Keep it up, u got the best style and round house in the game🤙
@@Tarzander I’m about 6’1-6’2 and 88kgs.
I want one now :-)
Thank you for making this video. Can you please give your opinion on whether you think it will work with the FCS II Power Twin + Stabiliser fins? Kevin Schultz likes it as a thruster and you with the quads but what about twin (+stabiliser)?
I’ve tried it and it goes ok for sure but it not an ideal fin position for a twinny in my opinion. If you already have some try it for sure.
Nice.
Nice!!! Smooth lines and flow with the quad setup. What fins do you have on? Have you tired other fin setups? 🏄👌🏻💯
Tried heaps of templates and ding I keep coming back to the Large Reactor fronts and Reactor medium quad rears.
@@harleyingleby 💯👏 Thanks for the feedback. I hope i can demo it soon.
So fun to watch! Can you surf the 7' 6" like you do the 7'0 and 7'10 or are the thicker rails limiting? Thanks.
Hey mate, I haven't really ridden the 7'6 much TBH but the 7'10 is incredible for sure. the longer rail line is insane for longer open faces. The 7'6 was really designed for someone else who desired more meat in the board for whatever reason. They're all super performance though
Lifelong shortboarder but been riding a 7'4 Seaside and Beyond for six months now and don't think I'll ever go back. I'm looking for a midlength that works when it gets a git more round and punchy and it looks like the Mid 6 is the call. Struggling a bit with sizing though. You think the 7'0 is a good fit for 90kg in good waves or should I go 7'6?
I think you’ll know straight away if you put them under the arm a feel the rails.
I have a 7'4 Moe and an 8'0 Moe - i love both. Thinking of getting a 7'6 Mid for bigger waves. 51 years of age and 205 pounds. Does the 7'6 sound like the right size for me? Thanks!
Yeah that does for sure. That or the 7’10 if you like a longer foiled out feeling more.
Harley! FCS only?! Or is it going to be made Futures also? Thanks 🤙🏼
Yeah FCS only mate. 👍🏼
I currently have the 7'2 Moe. Can a 7'0 Mid 6 replace my Moe as an everyday board with more performance? Or is the Moe a better everyday board for the mushy conditions we often get in Socal?
its more performance for sure but yes the Moe is a better weak wave board.
Harley ! What a great video . I preordered the board bcuz of it ! Mind telling me the fins you're on here ?? Thank you . I WAS a shortboard guy
Hey mate, generally the large Reactor fronts and Reactor medium quad rears. Any large flat foil fronts will be fine but highly recommend the reactor or performer medium quad rears...
Hi Harley,If you can have the Mid 6 and the Moe ,what size would you get on both in order to cover all need with this 2 boards !
if I could only choose one size in each I would have the 7’ Mid6 and 7’2 Moe.
harleyingleby would rather have a moe and a Mid6 or the 2 mid 6’s , 7’0 and 7’10
@@markvandermerwe9655 all those three options have a place in my quiver but if I had to choose two I’d go 7’2 Moe and 7’0 Mid6. I absolutely love the 7’10 Mid6 in overhead open faces but we don’t get them as often as good days for the others
I've just ordered the 7'10", mainly be surfing both fat and hollow beachies. Would you recommend the reactor quad set up for the 7'10"?
Yeah those or possibly my XL quads in the 7'10. Just depends on what you usually surf and the feel you want..
Hi Harley,
You talk about large reactors front and medium reactor rears as the perfect combo for this board.
I am 150-155 lbs and doubting between the sizing of the fins. What do you recommend?
Thanks!
I still recommend those! Maybe medium front will be enough for you?
hello did you choose medium or large front reactor ? any feedback ? I am 145 lbs so i am asking me the same question ...
thanks
@@oceaneloussier2175 I went for larger front!
I just picked up 7’0 Mid6. For quad set up do you use large reactor front and medium rear?
Mahalo!!
Yep!!!
Thanks!!
I have 7’4 MOE and 9’1 HI4 as well. They are both awesome!! Looking forward to have some fun with Mid6.
Mahalo!! 🤙
🙌🏼
If you could have only one what length would you choose for a 5 “11 76kg guy….the bigger cruisier 7”4 or go 6”8, 6”10 ?
the 7'0 mid6 or 7'2 moe depending on the waves you'll surf 90% of the time
Harley mate I have tried and asked to get a mid 6 out to South Africa via FireWire ( Country Feeling is the only place get FireWire here) but I'm getting nowhere...if you come out this way bring an extra one will ya !
Hi, is this board good for waves like Winkipop, overhead? and how big the waves can handle? Thanks
That second wave is overhead Winki
I am 35, 100kg, average surfer in hawaii. you think i can handle the 7'10. looking for something for head high and above. smaller i would go for my performance sup or kai sallas camper. larger i have to use my bodyboard because im too slow to get in on my shortboards now.
Hey mate, yeah it’d probably be a great board for you!! 8’0 Moe with my XL quads will go good in over head waves for you too.
Unreal, so the Reactors are best for this model? Cheers
I think so!
Great surfing Harley! - full flow and super smooth connecting turns . Can you confirm this entire video shows a 7.0 size mid 6 only ?
yeah mate.. 7'0 for the win!
@@harleyingleby cheers for that !
Does this work in gutless waves as well?
Nice surfing man.. I'm an experienced surfer weigh 85 kg 185 cm height. I got the Mid 6 7'6 for couple of months now using quad. it seems like sometimes the board is too fast to preform... I'm not sure I didn't make a mistake by not going for the 7'0... is there a big difference in the performance aspect?
Try it was a thruster with slower fins
I was surfing the web looking at ci mid length reviews and found this.. ha.. This thing looks more down my alley.. Im 72kg, been surfing 30+ years. Im getting older but i can still but a rail in the water. my short boards are around 26-27ltrs these days.. so my question is the dimensions on the 7'0.. is the thickness/volume on the 7'0 M6 going to be to much ?
hey mate.. Yeah go the 7'0 for sure! wait to you see the clips of Kevin Shultz riding it.. I reckon his shortboards would be a similar size to yours.
@@harleyingleby hey mate, I am looking at the 7'0 for myself, I am 85kg though and my normal shorty is about 34 litres. Wanting this for more of a step up in bigger days than anything? Thoughts on 7'0 for myself? TIA
@@kristoffpistorius3771 I think it'd definitely work for you..
What size was that board?
I think it s a 7'0
Does this board work well for smaller weaker surf ?
It definitely does but the Moe is better in the weaker stuff
Hi all, I would be interested in comments on the ability to duck dive various sizes of the mid 6, under decent waves and at differing rider weights/ sizes. Thanks.
Definitely a tough one to gauge.. it’s more about peoples technique and ability than sizes and weights. I’m 6’1 85kgs and have no problem duck diving a 10’ x 24’ x 3’ Log. I would consider any of these Mids very easy to duck dive
@@harleyingleby Thx for the quick response. Enjoy yr posts!
Got the 7 footer. Weigh 75kg and its good to duck dive. Balanced between making more ground between the waves. Love it.
What size is that boar?
7 ft
なんじゃこりゃ~
a bunch of fun
Yeah but all boards go in the waves you are riding up the north coast & in QLD. Firewire is trying to effectively pickpocket the older/retired blokes who have money from super and inheritances (and a lifetime of investments). At $1700-$1800 a pop (on a guess the board will even work in each person's local conditions anyway) it's ridiculous. Shame Firewire, shame.
Harley! FCS only?! Or is it going to be made Futures also? Thanks 🤙🏼
Just fcs mate
