Allowing non-blacks to use the "n" word is definitely more of an east coast thing! I'm from the Bay Area in California and that was a game nobody played. Non black's knew better and respected it...period. Real "n" words enforced it if that line was crossed.
I’m from the east coast & it’s always seemed to be the opposite. We don’t play that over here. It seems to be more of a west coast thing. Especially in Cali & places like Texas as well. They always seem to let it slide. I’ve never had an issue hearing non blacks say it where I’m from personally.
I think our problem within our community is that we don’t enforce these rules amongst other non black people like how other communities have enforced and caused a “no tolerance” consequence. Buuuuut to be fair to biggie is Afro Latina. I do think if you aren’t black, you shouldn’t say the n word. I do agree with you on saying when non black people be prepared for the consequences that come with it. When the offended group is telling you, hey that’s offensive don’t say that. And you disregard that and do it anyway, you get those consequences. Unfortunately for Gretchen, she got her consequence and I don’t feel bad for her.
to me.... it's very weird to defend your right to say that word if you are not black. I don't think she should be saying it and you are definitely right with the "blurred lines" aspect. we (black people) have to do better on not giving minorities a pass because they're gonna go out in the real world and end up like Gretchen.
I'm Australian Indigenous, so whenever I hear the n-word by my family, friends or anyone with the same background as me, I give them the side eye bc that's a word we weren't brought up in and ofc the history behind that word. At the end of the day nobody shouldn't say the n-word.

Theres Black Caribbeans , Black Latinos, Black Africans and Black Arabs, Black people from Europe, and they all are their own culture/ none of those are Black American. Americans needa stop imposing their own views on other ppl. Thats the bigger issue.
I think people CONFUSE nationality, race, & ETHNICITY ‼️ let me educate to those whom may be inclined towards the difference… Nationality: is a where YOU are born/reside from. Ethnicity: is your CULTURAL background (where your ancestors may have hold a ethnical roots/traits) Caribbean, indigenous upbringings Race: is skin complexion, whether that is Black, White, Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Other. So with that being said… If you are NOT physically a BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICAN, you should not nor ever feel comfortable saying the “n” word. I understand based off upbringings, where you grew up from or what your environment/community is used to saying that terminology as an “slang”. But ultimately that is an derogatory term used upon our black ancestors slaves as a degrading insult. Just because you changed the endings from “er” to “a” doesn’t take away the power or anger it held from the actual terminology 💯 it’s hateful point blank. Even myself as a black African American, I’m trying to not use that word in my vocabulary because it’s distasteful & we as a whole have to put an end using that as a greeting, embracing slang term. Also stop using that excuse “oh it’s in a song, it’s different to who vs who” because as soon as a Caucasian person uses that word against a black person, y’all quick to be irate 🤨 WE gotta make that change as a representation in order for other RACES to not throw that derogatory word to hurt us.

It’s a million words in the English language, but there's no reason to use offensive language. Some people can be racist. I used to date someone who was Hispanic. Dominican never again
In the Latino community, a lot of us are from Native, European (Spain, French etc) descendent, and obviously African as well, but does that mean that ALL Latinos (Mexicans, Guatemalans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians etc) ACTUALLY have African or even Native ancestry? NO. I’m Mexican, for example. My native ancestry takes up more than my European. I have 80% Native blood in me, and I look very much native, apposed to someone like Gretchen she looks more European descent, I bet there’s not much African percent in her but like 5% lol. Jela is right and all the other girls. Just cus you’re Puerto Rican or Latino doesn’t always mean you have African in you. It all comes down to your region, roots and bloodline if you actually come from there. Biggie and Jocelyn Hernandez, and Amara la negra are perfect examples that they have more African descendant in them.

Oooouuuup not "jlo didn't say it, Ashanti did" 😂🤣😭
Damn 😂😂😂😂😂
And people are saying they respect Gretchen because she stands on business and that really confuses me. I grew up in NYC and lots of non black POC, shit even Asians, use the n word and their justification for using it is because they aren't white. In my opinion, at this point, no one should say it. Cuz now every other non black person feels that they get the pass to say a racial slur.
And they get DEFENSIVE… real defensive about it. Like ok black king/queen, calm down
If you let them speak like that around you of course they'll think it's cool foh.
folks dont check their weird behind enough
@@JL-vv7rf what you mean by defensive? we aren't yalls N🤣 i have never seen people get so mad about not being able to use a slur. The gay community has reclaimed the f word and we see every other community respecting that. Why can't the same be done for us? it literally aint that hard. No one is gonna force you to stop using it, but using it around certain people means getting beat the fuck up and rightfully so
I grew up in a neighborhood where my dad was allowed to say it. (Im a white hispanic). So i thought i could say it cus it was normal. As we separated from my father i later realized im far from black and thats a SLUR not slang. So i stopped saying it when i was like 12. Im now 17 and its the best choice ever. My ancestors were afro latinos but i am a WHITE presenting hispanic and i have that very clear.
Edit: my father is a very racist man. Not only would he say it but he would often make jokes about hatians in miami. Glad that never rubbed off on me or my family. And i dont live with him anymore.
How at 17 do you have more common sense than adults twice you age?
@taahdaah3813 honestly. I'm 20 n I get appalled at how many people don't have common sense when it comes to colored issues. I'm mixed (African and Native) and I get amazed at how many people allow things they shouldn't
It's weird 😕

What I also don’t like is people outside of our community feeling like they should have a say in who should say it… just know you don’t need to 🤷🏾♀️

As a black Puerto Rican I wanna apologize for her behavior we do not claim her also using the n word when you’re angry? Really? Tf is that?
That part‼️
Nah don’t apologize for her bc not all Puerto Ricans are the same and she’s jus making all Latinos/hispanics look bad rn

im from nc and i dont. i got called hard r by a grown yt man at 12 and then mocked by a red neck that called me a nikka while trying to act like a stereotyped blk person. his friend ran down the hall way screaming yt power.
The Asians in the bay say it… OD mama

This tho PERIODT , the word needs to stop being normalized/ romanticized
Minority’s ? Ummmmm you must not remember
I'm Australian Indigenous, so whenever I hear the n-word by my family, friends or anyone with the same background as me, I give them the side eye bc that's a word we weren't brought up in and ofc the history behind that word. At the end of the day nobody shouldn't say the n-word.
Also I have a story about a Spanish slur… so I was dating this Puerto Rican and him and his friends would call each other cabrons, which I knew was a slur, but I understood it as when I call my friend bitch… so I called him that in a joking way, and he stopped me in my tracks and said that’s not something a woman should call a man.. I apologized and never said anything to him like that again.. only for us to break up bc of him to refer to my hair as Mala pela and when I asked him to stop, he says “well that’s what we call it where we’re from.” Stood on it 10 toes and still dates black girls 🤦🏾♀️We’re always expected to have some type of respect that the world has never afforded us and when we treat the world the way it treats us we’re seen as the little person and it’s crazy.

@@dreamlovermimi9458exactly they wanna be black till it’s time to be black then they don’t wanna be black
@@TrulyPurpleslife maybe, and its a cultural clarity, the Black Diaspora is more than just BlackAmericans.
Ethnicity: is your CULTURAL background (where your ancestors may have hold a ethnical roots/traits) Caribbean, indigenous upbringings
Race: is skin complexion, whether that is Black, White, Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Other.
Also stop using that excuse “oh it’s in a song, it’s different to who vs who” because as soon as a Caucasian person uses that word against a black person, y’all quick to be irate 🤨
WE gotta make that change as a representation in order for other RACES to not throw that derogatory word to hurt us.
THIS!!!! More people need to learn the difference between Nationality, Race, and Ethnicity. OPEN THE SCHOOLS!

“How can we fault her?” was a silly question. It doesn’t matter how popular the word is, if you are not black, do not use it.
Here's my thing as a not-black person; two things can be true at once. She cannot be saying the n-word, she's not black and it's that simple; concurrently, other non-black cast members are also wrong for using the n-word, regardless of people not calling them out for it
Unpopular opinion but I agree. It’s almost the equivalent of eating at a dinner table speaking Spanish yet there’s one or two people who don’t speak the language….

I definitely fault her Not only because she should’ve known better in this climate, especially with how many discussions on the Internet be happening… she was warned in her face multiple times to not and still went out her way to poke multiple bears… she got what she needed…that aside it’s not about always about context, but comfortability.. I can’t walk around calling every female a B word because I called my friends that… I also understand that I can’t walk around saying the B word in front of my mother (for example)or a lyric that has the word in it even though my mom can.. and that just comes with a simple respect of understanding that that is my Elder, but respect transcends all demographics. It’s just certain things you know better than to say in certain spaces and if they don’t know alot of em learning 🤷🏾♀️
i’m just stuck on why non black people get so mad when we say y’all shouldn’t be saying the n word. Like 69, Fat Joe, and Gretchen get defensive and start having to explain why they can say it. If you have to give a detailed explanation why you say the n word then you shouldn’t be saying it period. And imma say this like i said on Troyce Tvs video, if you do not have at least ONE fully black parent then you are my dear not black. Because being black/mixed and having black ancestry are two completely different things.
It’s a million words in the English language, but there's no reason to use offensive language. Some people can be racist. I used to date someone who was Hispanic.

I wonder why Jela has never checked Natalie for saying the N word. And for being colorist. 😒 I guess cause Natalie is technically paying her bills.
Natalie is biracial her Father is Black….

JaRule is the same "man" that talked & did Ashanti dirty. He's nothing to be referred to for ANYTHING
I am a black woman and was never allowed to say the N word. PERIOD!!!
I feel you about Cardi, but her hair is as thick as my daughters.. but you on to something with that referencing the 3rd person🤔

We understand you're ignorant and blatantly don't give af. The R word was used everywhere when I was young. The mentally handicapped community said that was offensive and so guess what.... It makes my ears jump when i hear others say the n word. But i can’t lie, the lines are blurred with me as well and i hate that. Im from jersey, which idc what no one say, can be very segregated. Our black communities is also mostly latino and carribean. Granted, i mostly hear it from dominican people. But i stick by no one should be saying it, however its so ingrained in our culture in our “hoods” that it gets overlooked. Because the way our cities our set up in north jersey, its like we’re in the same boat because we’ll all get looked at the same if we walk 5mins down the street and end up in a predominantly white area. But like i said still not okay, they shouldnt be saying it and we shouldnt be referring to ourselves as that either
