That's some good licks you're playing there. It's an awesome song. Sounds to me like at 15:29 JP does a slight reverse bend like he drops down into the final note on the lower harmony scale but I've been fooled before. He def has some strange tone on this one. It's got the Strat "in-between pickups" tone in places. He had some rewiring done on his LPs and maybe that's why. Standard LPs have a 3-position toggle, nothing more, but his tone/vol knobs could be pushed and pulled to get the same effect as the Strat mixed pickup effect I think. And one of the guitar tracks sounds like there's some bass-boost going on; could be the eq on the board maybe. I'm sure he'll tell you if you ask him nicely. I worked with the late, great Greg Curbow, Jimmy's guitar tech from the Outrider tour and a very fine luthier in his own right. He built some basses back in the 90's to die for. I mean pure works of art and technology - ahead of their time.
It sounds to me like he uses Fender for recording and the Gibson for touring because Gibson sponsored him and he was under contract with Gibson to be seen with their guitar to promote sales. I read that in an article some time ago.

Hey! I know that your version is correct, but I've always enjoyed playing the verse riff down at the cowboy section of the neck. I think it sounds heavier, and whilst we don't get the 7th so much we are very much getting the 7th maj instead. I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. It's wrong, but I (personally) like it!
