It’s rotoscoping a very difficult style of CGI combined with line art. Love this stile of horror, specially H. P. Lovecraft. Yes Junji Ito is call Japan’s Lovecraft. If you want more fuel check the golden ratio and it’s swirls. I’m currently reading Ito’s work TOMEI.

its not CG, maybe some aspects of it are in later episodes, but overall they used rotoscoping to achieve this. the director of this anime also worked on aku no hana which is another anime that uses a similar technique

What u saw in the first episode spanned like 4 chapters. each of those events were separate chapters and the whole point of the horror is seeing the story spiralling down
Its even more disappointing that the show is merely 4 episodes even though the manga is 20 chapters.
