@TheFlatTopKing with all the newer griddles that have been released and your recent reviews maybe be great for another comparison video that you did a little over year ago. Example Flatrock vs new Weber vs new camp chef. I know as a buyer soon in the market would be great to get your thoughts on all these against one another.

I would wait to see the full temp range on the lower pressure regulator setting. They commented on my post it gets 600f on the low pressure setting. I'm guessing that is low regulation setting, but high on the burners. That could mean pretty decent low burner temps with the low pressure

Looking forward to the first cook. I'd imagine it would be interesting to run off just the front burner halves, either the two center or two outer, and see how the heat transfers through the griddle plate. Might be the way to get down near 300. Or, maybe how to create cooler zones for slowing down a cook. Glad you showed the plate underside, always interested in how they are reinforced.

Another great review video guys! But after watching all your griddle reviews, I truly believe the wind guards come with a high cost of not allowing the griddle to dissipate the heat fast enough to actually have a useable low setting. You sold me on the 28" Weber griddle (without wind guards) when you turned 2 burners down to low and actually had a 100 degree temp drop.

Thank you for this and all your videos. My wife and I enjoy each one. I've been cooking on a Sam's 4-burner for a while and got tired of having food fall into the front-center-located grease hole, so bought this griddle a couple of weeks ago from an orange home improvement center. Worried it would be damaged if shipped to my house, I had it shipped to the store. When I went to pick it up, the box was badly beaten and looked like a forklift might have hit it. I had my money refunded and went to a restaurant supply store yesterday and bought a used Wolf AGM36 3-burner commercial griddle and equipment cart. With the help of a much younger and stronger neighbor, we got it to the back under the pergola and I finished hooking up the natural gas line this morning.
Looking forward to your videos using the Halo. Like others have mentioned, interested in the temperature difference when the regulator is in the 9.5 position. Halo makes a popular pizza oven. Great video. The surface of the sun heat from the HALO would be perfect for those who want to deep/shallow fry on the griddle in a cast iron vessel. The most common complaint is that a griddle does not heat the oil hot enough or heats it too slowly which is why the disposable aluminum foil pans are used. That high heat would be great for severe searing for reverse searing. Also, that griddle might be effective for cooking pizza. Set the pizza on a pizza screen or perforated disk and then dome it.

Great review… Can truly understand your heat concern. What is really interesting is the manufacturer put a regulator on that allows for the 11 and 9.5 water column for gas. So after seasoning would you move to the 9.5 and see how the unit works or would you recommend maybe starting at the 9.5 setting and season at that temperature. I have my Halo coming and am wondering if you would start off at the 9.5 knowing what you know after your first use? Thanks for the great content

This griddle seems very interesting. A lot of features that i like. Even nice sized casters. Im wondering like some of the other viewers what setting the regulator was on. And what kind of temperature difference there is using both front and back burners vs just front. I think it would be better if they were plumbed opposite. So you can run the back burner and not the front ( having to work over the hottest part of the griddle to reach the cooler part of the griddle doesn't make sense) Sure its easier to plumb this way but I'd rather pay a little more and have it work correctly. Looking forward to seeing you cook on this plus perhaps figure out how to better manage the heat. Have a great day. This griddle looks very promising.

@The Flat Top King good luck. I'll be waiting for the video. Fyi, I didn't even know about this company. Something else, a customer shouldn't have to modify what they buy but it seems someone who works with propane could probably suggest a different regulator with a lower out put to get the burners into the sweet spot. It seems most griddles burn a tad to high and a lower output regulator could do the trick. Ok enough, have a great day 🌤 😀 👍 🍻🔥

From other sites that have reviewed the Halo, the 9.5" setting does lower the temp, but no as much as I think Neal will want. I think a lot of the heat issue comes from the front and back burners both have segments that heat the center of the griddle top and those segments are very close together. I wonder what would happen if you tried blocking the center segment of the rear burner with some high temp foil tape or similar (just to test a theory). Then with all burners on you only have 1 segment in the center instead of 2. I suspect it will be more even front to rear then. If this works, not sure what a long term high temp solution might be to block that one segment in each rear burner (high temp silicone? You could still remove it and it would not damage the burner metal).

I need some help, if anyone has any suggestions or diagnosis help. First Time Newbie. After weeks of research and learning online, I received my new Halo Elite 2B. Using what I have learned on this channel and elsewhere, including the manufacturers instructions, I cleaned the griddle with soapy water, rinsed and fully dried and then seasoned. I used quality 100% avocado oil. Following the best practices, I applied thin layers with a paper towel, no pooling, etc and allowed the oil completely smoke off between coats. I did 6 coats. Griddle temps were generally between 500 and 600, some areas were 600+ at times. By coat 4, my griddle had progressively taken on the black color, as expected. I did noticed a slight change in behavior around coat 4. The oil would noticeably bead, which I have not seen or heard mentioned in any video. After six coats I called it good and ended. The next day I attempted a "fried egg test". brought the griddle up to between 300 and 325. I put down a small squirt of oil, but could not really evenly "spread" it across the cooking area. In stead, I could only create an area with lots of small oil beads. The eggs stuck severely and instantly. Requiring some careful scraping to get the bulk off, which still exposed some griddle steel. I cleaned the rest with a wet rag and muscle while the griddle was still warm. Fearing I had made some mistake or had somehow not seasoned enough, I basically redid the entire seasoning process, especially in the area that I had scraped the egg off. I did at least 4 full seasoning coats, taking great care to make sure I got full coverage with thin layers and letting it fully cook off. I'm going to try again, but I have no idea where my error is. I don't really expect a different result. Thanks!

The test of that regulator is if that fuel can pass through it when its -30 and the propane tank is kept outdoors. I have had to bring my tanks indoors a few times to cook outdoors. North of the 45th Parallel it happens. Another thing no reviewer has ever commented on is SPIDERS! I have burned up a few BBQ's when one or more of the jets was clogged with Webs and the backup of gas set the knobs on fire when I went indoors to prep some food. One last thing. I bought a grill top so may years ago I cant recall how old this thing is. The Front drip tray hole often gets clogged or some dam racoon runs off with the drip can into the bushes. I did some T-bones on the Pit Boss last night, first time ever direct cooking steak so I had no idea what the hell I was doing. I just put down a layer of avocado oil, then rubbed about 2 tbsp or so of butter in using the end of the stick, then threw them on there and let them cook about 4 minutes on each side until they were temping 135. Turned out pretty good.

I’d be interested to see some comparisons as far as temperature and distribution wiry the regulator on both settings while running only the front burners and with both the front and back half of the burner. Four total options on low there.

A huge improvement on the heat distribution. I left the original regulator and my temps on low are 325 and on high, 550.

Thanks for the great review of the Halo 4B griddle. Your review is fair and honest. And you bring up a good concern about the oil flash point to be aware of. Your first impression accurately identified and presented awareness about several items based on your preferences and experience that you are not in favor of. I recently purchased the Halo 3B griddle, and I did not have any assembly issues. I also purchased the NG conversion kit, which was installed without issues. Overall, I find the Halo 3B griddle product quality very good. All components and parts are clearly labeled for assembly, and the fit/finish is very good. Yes, I agree with you that the Halo griddle cooking surface is heavy. However, Halo protects the griddle surface from warping by welding cross-member fixtures across the underside which also strengthens and provides rigidity. I watched your reviews for Weber, Pit Boss, and Blackstone before purchasing the Halo 3B griddle. I was not impressed with these other griddles' heat distribution, lack of wind protection, overall fit/finish, and quality of materials. I’m looking forward to your Halo 4B first cook. Keep up the good work.

I look forward to your first cook and future cooks where you’ll hopefully find a means of cooking at lower temps - without taking any external measures. Maybe the two stage regulator , run on 9” WC (low) will be that solution. I hope so. There’s so much I like about this griddle. I wonder if only running the front half would yield an even, lower temp… anyway, thanks again for buying this and doing another outstanding review. He makes a good analogy of it being a Ferrari. Yes, you can floor it and hit high temps, which its purpose is to sear. Which I will tell you it can sear the hell out of a steak. I also get the safety issue with the flashpoint on some oils. To someone not familar with that, it can be a hazard.
With having some extra burner control, you can get the temps very low based on the configuration. For example, I turn just the front corner burners on to get lower temps in the center. You sacrifice 25% of cooking area to do so, but its so easy to cook lower.
With the lid closed I can get an ambient temp of 230-250 with 1 column of burners on. Then just bake on the other side. Just enough to bake at slow and low temps. This grill is for those who like to get creative. Like he said. It has potential, it depends upon the user. Learn the grill and you can make some good stuff on it. Shit I just made a 16" pizza on it. If you want it get it. You won't be let down.
