Struggling to learn digital art, but your channel is extremely helpful for me in the early stages! I am now making sure that I work on studies, and learn over time, instead of getting depressed over big paintings.
Kinda funny hearing Sam saying thank you for 3000 subscribers, when currently sitting on 1 milion :) Great job, I hope more people discover your art, because your work is amazing. Extreme congrats ♡
Oh, I thought I was the only one who is watching my own drawing at my phone while it's still unfinished :) But I do it really often - with sketch, with first coloring moments and then the final art X) thank you for this video, I'm glad I'm not the only one who obsessed with their drawings :D
Omg so true. I remember when I was new to digital art, Idk there was a function to flip the canvas. And when I discovered it and used it I was like WAT DA HELL DID I DRAW😂 Sometimes I post my art on social media and I find it ugly the day after. Ur videos help a lot! Thank you. So glad that I found ur channel. ☺️
no no no don't be hesitant to say it man. My fine arts teacher always told us to divide our art into multiple sessions to refresh your perspective / vision of the art so you can spot mistakes. Solid advice here, keep it up.
this is sooo true. there are minor mistakes u won't notice while rushing things. sometimes if u take a break from your drawing and get back at it again u can improve it a whole lot better.
Excellent tip! I've experienced it so often that I was frustrated with a painting and couldn't see what's wrong with it until the next day. It's a great idea to incorporate this into your routine deliberately!
This is a great tip, I do this too! It's so helpful with spotting mistakes. I tend to forget things so I usually go draw on top of the picture in my phone and "edit" it that way to reference later when I get back to my painting. Thank you for always sharing good advice, your videos and your art is so inspiring! :)
Thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely put this into practice. I just started out a few months ago and I find myself kind of rushing through trying to get to the coloring stage & final details, hoping THAT will make me more happy with what I’m creating...but that’s usually not how it works. Lol. I’m going to try to pace myself more instead of messing with it for hours & being frustrated.
Yeaaaa coloring should be the last thing to master on the list. First ones sketches - line weight etc. Second is values - drawing in black and white. And only after you are killing those two the color stuff, and I'd say even after rendering part
i totally do the same! i just spoke about it today. doing that is so much better because i can see mistakes and up until now i have been doing the short session in the beginning, but it really makes more sense doing the second one shorter! thanks!
This is a very nice tip. Sadly, the effort on the second session ( the correction session) might greatly vary depending on the art style. For free brush paints is easier to cover up and reshape, however, if you are doing lineart/vectoring/cellcoloring, a change in the drawing could mean hours of re-doing everything on several layers. Perhaps for these kind of styles it would be better to rest after the initial lineart is done, that way you can notice any errors on the lines before adding everything else.
Oh thank you. This tip is logical and really picking up a skill. To see mistakes I should take a break to give a rest for my brain to see in another angle my painting
I do the same exact thing. I also like to use my friends or family to see if they like the art, but sometimes they won’t be too truthful so I don’t get the feedback I need. I am so happy to hear that someone else does the same weird things I do. Haha
Sam please do a video on your brushes. Although I dont really rely on brushes in my paintings but your style keeps me wondering what brush you use. It's so beautiful.
Man, I am from Brazil and I want to enter in the world of digital illustration, I ended up finding one of your arts on instagram and I loved that, your style is incredible, and I really hope you is recognized for your work
Thanks for the tips sam, i used to think using reference or taking a long time to make art is humiliating....but you managed to convince me otherwise👌👌👌
Oh wow! I really need to give this a shot, I usually just try to end everything in one setting and just feel completely burned out or drained by the end of it. I'm def trying this and recording a video of the process! PS: Your art is amazing and an inspiration for me, keep it up!
man i need to start doing this. i'm terrible with sticking to an organized process which makes my paintings take forever but i still do that thing where i post something and then start lowkey hating it over the next little while because i notice all the mistakes i made. and i flip my canvas a LOT. definitely going to try this tip.
This is such a good advice! I've noticed this recently as well. It really helps in case of traditional drawing too, I find it's good to stop focusing on my sketch for a bit once it's finished and return to it later to ink it, so that I can fix any mistakes while I can still erase them. 😀
Lol, no need to feel like we think you're crazy man😂 I completely understand where you were going. It's a really great tip to not regret it after and I've seen many artists put this in to practice and it really helps a lot. Thank you for sharing man 😊
My god, I'm so glad UA-cam recommended me this video, I am in real love with your work!! I wish I culd illustrate more like this. And I now this is annoying, but I need to know where I can find these brushes you use, cause I've been looking for some like this for years now. Please, I'd be the ahppiest man if you could help me with that, even more than you're helping me with already haha Great job anyways, keep on doing the good work. I'm already a fan!
The number of times I had to take down posts off of Instagram cos I spotted something wrong on the second day of posting itis crazy! Thanks for the video! You're awesome!!!
You are so inspiring!! Ajsjjaja i really appreciate the way you talk about stuff, everything is so relatable and I know I would pay for an art class if you taught one
yesterday i drew the artwork i will post on sunday and it kinda never looked quite right... i just looked at it again today and oh my lord i'm glad i did
I love the freedom he has to use his brushes that boldly.... I mean most of us rookie artists take every single stroke carefully and try to make it perfect lmao
Love your art style , its so strange to say I've never seen so much detail from drawing so little detail of that makes sense 😅 you paint just enough that the painting looks just as detailed as some of the other digital artists that do absolutely insane details on there work digitally. Yours gives the exact same details with out having to go into to super over details that others do. Sorry I'm not getting my point across lets leave it at youre a wizard 😅 I noticed you are using a square brush a lot , i know brushes don't make the art but as someone who really struggles to blend in photoshop how do you blend your pieces ?
haha i do that too ! but not knowingly tho. i just send it to my friends and see their reaction, and then i ll randomly look at it on my phone and try to see the whole picture. after a while, i come back and continue.
Actually i use to do it..everytime i m on a new project...😬 Take a break...dont look at the stuff for a while and you can see the things that need to be improved...😁❤
Hi! can you have like a breakdown of the skin tones? I'm really having a trouble with skin tones and what colors to use, your tips will be of great help! Thank you and stay awesome!
'was better before IMHO, the hair cut was more "cuddling style" and the fusion of shape with the cat, who is obviously enduring the situation, added an extra layer of humour to the picture. Hair often help to tell mind sets. Here her hair helped her looking fusionnal with the cat who on its side is... just being a cat. Sometimes the first intuitive throw is the best. Maybe the silouhette is more intresting now, yes, but the storytelling suffer a bit from the change, at least on my perspective.
Can you do a tutorial on how to apply pen pressure and when in your painting process you switch from solid brush to transparent, or fixed size to pressure dependent...
I love that I can see the brush strokes in the painting and I love your style .I'm new to painting and I have a long way to go
keep going, you got this 😄
Well...good luck gamora. With painting and your youtube

Very insightful
