Anyway let's talk about the current state of the Pokemon Anime (aka Pokemon Horizons!) and tbh....I cannot believe what I'm just witnessing! =O

So I finally caught up to Horizons again (thanks real life responsibilities ... :/ ) and overall I'm actually quite surprised after returning back to it! xD

This generation of Pokemon anime is done for me since the whole never ending series of Ash. I pretty much don't what happens now the new Pokemon anime, since I'm done.

I haven’t kept up with the Pokémon anime in years but horizons finally changed that. It feels so good to watch a continuous journey again (something you’d think Journeys would’ve actually done.)

Horizons has been my anime of choice since it began, and I look forward to the new episode every week. I honestly love how they're handling the world and the story, and how it feels like a more traditional anime while still being unmistakably Pokémon.
Horizons has been the first time I've been invested with the anime's story since the MegaEvo specials and XYZ. It's really been good, and it's insane how much of a jump in quality there is since JN.
It's not perfect and I do have some complaints, but overall I have been having a great time with it. I really love the Explorers too, Spinel is so cool!
Spinel is too op, his umbreon is stronger than captain pikachu

I like the xy quality better. Horizons have as much of lousy quality as Journeys.

@@13CrystalHeart I agree with you that XY series does look the cleanest due to how the animation complements the cgi background, especially during the battles. Journeys and Horizons however are bland and boring.

Horizons is better than Journeys right now. Better story, better openings, and character developments.
Liko and Roy are barely interesting dude lol Even the side characters felt more important than they are. Horizons failed to get their own new protagonists over xp

@@Kurapica07 just because ash won doesn't mean series is good. In fact people are mad because he won in this shit show instead of XYZ. Journeys is the worst that happened to Pokemon anime. Also is way more interesting character than ash ever could.
I'm really impressed that Horizons is dedicating an entire arc on the paldea school. I wasn't expecting it after the initial premise was to like Journeys but better executed. They even baited the audience in the first episode by having Liko attend a school in Kanto only her that to switched to the rising voltacklers ship
I absolutely love Pokémon Horizons so far, and it is definitely better than Pokémon Journeys for sure. I'm so excited to see how the third arc of this series plays out.
I think this is the first time i see fair review of pokemon horizons from pokemon fans with ash profile picture, because most of the review from them are double standard (saying that pokemon Shouldnt protect their trainer forgetting that we got so many scene of pokemon saving their trainer) and also some random hoax and theory
Not having ash, or more like giving Ash a break has got to be a breath of fresh air for the main series. We don't hate or dislike Ash, he was a perfect example of like a Homer Simpson or Peter griffin for people that should have been retired 10 years ago. Don't get me wrong, this is not "spicing things up", BUT for providing their stories a conclusion.
@@natalimoina dude, I'll do you one better. His story is probably still not at its conclusion. If people wanna say his story is over when he's an adult/ has a kid/ is pokemon master/ is in the grave. All of this is subjective, but personally the first league would have been a fine ending even with the loss. But being 10 yrs old for 20+ yrs is a bit much.
Horizons is the breath of fresh air I personally needed. Sun and Moon and especially Journeys were never really my cup of tea. Indeed like you mentioned we missed the travelling aspect the last 2 series like we had before. In Horizons we actually get filler episodes that takes place in a new area every time. Not in Journeys in Vermillion City or Sun and Moon at the school or Melemele Island. Also we finally get some proper character development. The backstory of Friede for example was one of the best episodes of the series. Of course we enjoyed and will miss Ash and Pikachu. However their story should be closed forever.
The only thing that I dont like in Horizons, it's Roy.
I like the character, but I don't like how they forced him to be a main character. I know, it's supposed to be a duo, but the story clearly focuses on Liko. But I guess it's impossible to have a solo female MC so they put a boy with because they have to
I feel exactly the same.
Hopefully they’ll shift the focus to him more at some point later, maybe in a training segment bc i think he’d do well in it. I like Liko but it would be nice to balance out both her and Roy’s character development
It felt like they just slapped him there like a sticker, they even forgot he had Wattrel for a bunch of episodes 😭

They really did take the criticisms, of Pokémon journeys to heart, and did all they could to answer them, and horizons is all the better for it.
Ps: I do find it funny that as soon as ash left, the quality of the anime just skyrocketed.

Ash was stopping character progression and new ideas because the writers had no idea what to do with him anymore , so Ash did hurt the anime in the end by staying more than he should have stayed@@Kurapica07

As for the english version we had xy(z) on disney XD (I miss it...)
As for sun and moon I could watch it in german on superRTL (but why would i do i rather gauge my eyes out) and wouldnt understand shit anyway lol.

I’ve seen Pokemon Horizons on Netflix and I got to say I quite enjoyed it. I honestly think it’s better than Journeys that’s for sure. I really like Liko and Roy especially the supporting characters as well. The animation is quite good especially the battles! Not only that but there’s a mystery that is building up to be unfolded. While I do miss Ash & Pikachu, I’m glad that it’s doing something different instead of the same repetitive stuff that we’ve seen in previous seasons. Overall looking forward to part 2 although I’m watching it dubbed.
I completely gave up on the Pokémon anime maybe 1/16 through Journeys, just disconnected from it because of the overly comedic animation. To make matters worse, it's the series Ash actually wins a league, but not just a regional league, the world's champion league. Just out of all the times to follow through, why did it have to be Journeys? Still, XY and XYZ are still the best

I’m honestly glad we’re done with ash too. We had him for so long and I was starting to loose interest in the anime. But Horizons is a new story with new characters and it has been fantastic! It actually makes me feel excited whenever new episodes drop.
Honourable mention - much more joyful humour. I’m glad that humour from SM and JN extinct.
If Ash will return someday (like in the final of Horizons for 30th anniversary of franchise), I hope that writers will return his personality from XYZ. To somehow smooth over edges.
But now, Pokémon anime now in renaissance.

Not going to lie, it's knocking my pants off seeing that this Anipoké is cooking😮. It's very charming and I actually see we're getting places! I mean it's not as epic as I envisioned but it is what it is.👍

Pokémon horizons is seriously the best pokeanime yet
The thing is, I think you all know that Rica Matsumoto, the voice actress of Ash, has parted ways with TPC. And without Matsumoto as his voice actress, the only appearances Ash could possibly make, are non-speaking cameos like May did in Journeys, or appearances on screens when a league battle is broadcasted.
The next portion of the anime has Liko, Roy, and Dot in Naranja Academy.
Liko is so beautiful in this new series

Hi Long very nice to see you back, I also stopped Horizons by the same time you did, but I plan to return to it soon, can you or anybody else answer my questions for the series please?
1. Did they flesh out the Rising Volt Tacklers enough by now? Like did Orla, Mollie and Ludlow more developed as well as the main 4 characters (Liko, Friede, Roy and Dot) by now?
2. They introduced more villains after Amethio and Spinel, but they were any good? I barely heard anything positive from the Explorers aside from Amethio and Spinel.
3. I saw that the gang will be studing in the Naranja Academy in Paldea by the look of a poster, do you think this will be just an arc or they will continue there for 20+ episodes? After Sun & Moon I hoped that school slice-of-life never return in the series and I have a fear this would ruin the series, do you think this would just be an arc or the adventure will truly take a back seat for a while?
And the last one:
4. Is there any other shippings potential in this series outside of Liko x Roy and Liko x Dot? (I mostly prefer het ships, just for you know)
Finally, I wanna say I enjoyed Horizons a lot so far and I can see it being place alongside Diamond & Pearl and XY as the best series in anipoke history, hope it continue being great!

2. Yes they introduced a new Villain Who is Sango and she is just hilarious, also there will going to be more Villains in future

As much as I like Ash, I am so happy that he’s gone! Now that we finally have a new main protagonist, Horizons, while having its problems, feels like such a breath of fresh air compared to when Ash was the main character, his anime got VERY STALE.

They really didn't miss out. It all got a German dub. Point is that their wasn't much advertisement in Germany about those 3 series

Any pokemon episode without Ash is a good time…mostly lol 😂 Hopefully Horizons don’t run out of ideas after the arc they’re going through as of this date.
I've watched the first few episodes and I like it but my problem is so far the series suffers from the isekai problem of feeling to much like a wishfuliment fantasy.
Also I once heard someone talk how if Pokémon came out today it would be an isekai which I find fascinating.
As someone who doesn’t like most isekai I wonder how popular Pokémon would become if that was its main gimmick.
Pokemon’s version or take on Germany should be located right next to Kalos….perhaps that’s why new games media skipped Unova and has been pushing Legends Z Kalos region….hmm? What do you all think?

I haven't watched Horizons lol. Only the first two episodes Journeys ruined the anime for me. Liko and Roy seem cool but.. I just want to focus on rl. But maybe one day I will watch it all through. And yeah Horizons seems a bit more plot managed lol
its worth watching it , and the third arc will be all about Paldea , the game region . Which is what Journeys didn't do
@@symphonixblades Well Journeys did it but cramped it all in 4 episodes which were just a copy paste of the game. But that's how you sum up Journeys in general. Ideas are great but the execution is horrible

Hmm I like the show but roy reminds mixed of ash and gon since he has no idea what he is doing when ot comes to battle and it little bit annoying since I'm starting watching it.
Excluding the past couple of months of endless filler which literally broke me HZ is pretty solid

I refuse to count it. That’s the lamest possible way to save an episode from being filler. We’ve even seen Pokemon learning moves off screen.
I think you’re giving too much praise for development. Liko didn’t get developed for many episodes and stagnated so much that she ended up needing a whole amnesia episode to be the focus again, and that’s not actually developing but more just reminding us her story.
Not to mention, one of the most annoying things ended up being Friede and Cap stealing the spotlight by always interrupting battles for Liko and Roy. It gets to the point that Friede and Pikachu feel like a crutch that’s holding Liko and Roy back from actually progressing. It’s only recently that they stopped doing that, which finally gave the others some chance to shine.
Not gonna lie, seeing Dot and Amethio's character development arc made me love this story so much. Those two became my favourite characters and they're the reason I came back to watch the series again.

oh my gah, he alive! I thought you'd given up on the anime like I did after episode 16 with the un-earned hero-pose scene of Liko, Roy and Dot which gave me the most painful Journey-laziness-vibes .. maybe that's why I didn't notice you uploading reviews after that ^^'

And while some of your points, especially Amithio's development, do sound quite interesting, I doubt I'll actually come back to the anime. The Adventure-only-angle with way too much "look at this special Pokemon!"-keyjangling, and most of all without any Gym-Battles and Tournaments just isn't what I want from Pokemon.
And I agree that the Anime doesn't need Ash, especially after his character was just an empty husk at the end of journeys - but going (as far as I know) completely without any reference to the old series, to the point where this doesn't even feel like the same world, is such a weird move hat kills all investment for me.
It sounds done well enough so far, but without another development-burst like from BW to XYZ, I don't feel it's worth my time.. still will keep an eye out for your reviews though ^^
@@natalimoina if you mean that he was full of crap maybe ^^ he only existed to end his story at that point, got the most boring by-committee team to get some marketing points and won battles against much better trainers just because, without any development or justification.

And here I thought you're the most sensible and somewhat reasonable one during the Journeys era. Look, even if Horizons had some questionable writing decisions, it still did much better than what Journeys ever tried to do. I'm interested in how the story will develop with Terapagos and the Six Heroes, the Rising Volt Tacklers, the Explorers, and now the Paldea arc. I don't know exactly how you see writing and media in general, but it does feel like everything needs to be nearly flawless in writing and presentation, and that Horizons is judged rather harshly for some aspects by the detractors.

I didn't say Horizons was as bad as Journeys; that' impossible, they'd have to build up characters for 20 years first and then turn them into parodies of themselves to completely mangle the payoff.
It was just an explanation of why I personally have no interest in watching Horizons, I never cared about the adventure-aspect, I basically watched it as weirdly paced sport-anime.
Writing doesn't have to be perfect, it never is (except for Haikyuu!! ^^), but it has to be a lot better than the average Pokemon-Level to get me interested in a premise I don't care about, and I already see symptoms of the same laziness that plagued journeys. (Look, shiny Zygarde, please clap)
If you're interested in it, that's fine, but for me it has changed to the wrong genre.

Completely disagree. Roy has gotten little to no development throughout the series so far. Likewise with Liko. When you’re two main characters have barely changed as characters since they debuted, that’s a huge problem. Also the RVTs as a whole suffer from a huge lack of focus.
Also I don’t know what you mean by the fillers being connected to the main narrative. Most episodes of Terapagos’ Shine have been completely disconnected from the Hero Pokémon story.
No matter how good the OP looks, it doesn’t change anything if it doesn’t cover anything to look forward to. This arc is about to end and the only time we ever got to see the Hero Pokémon are during the Lapras two parter. Speaking of them, despite how important they’re supposed to be, we don’t see them for the majority of the show.

third arc is coming dude , full Paldea arc , also its a training arc . I think Liko and Roy had character development however the characters i would say that had really good development were Dot and Amethio , yes these 2 were the ones getting the most character development so far.
However with Paldea Arc coming , and all the gym leaders seem to be involved i think that will finally give the character development Liko and Roy finally need. A character development they should have gotten already to be honest i think Paldea Arc should have been either the first arc , or since its a training Arc the second arc , i think either they should have started in Paldea or the first time they went to paldea back to Arc 1 they should have stayed there for awhile .
With that said Horizons is definitely better than Journeys so far, and personally as someone that didn't like Sun & Moon , also better than that.
I think as main series go my favorites are Diamond & Pearl , X&Y , Horizons . And as for short series i like them all , but my favorite is Hisuian Snow ( which won a well deserved award for best animated short series).
You seem to lack Reading comprehension if you think that liko does not have any development,but you are a UA-camr you don't need to be smart xd
i think they did it right. TBH Riko going on the journey gave her the confidence she need but wont get if she had gone to school straight away and she wont have grown. She isnt a battle type of person so for her going on a journey is important. She doesnt have a dream in the 1st place and also Roy needed to learn how strong legendary pokemons are and the danger of it.@@symphonixblades
Liko HAS gotten development. The Liko we see in recent episodes is different from the Liko we saw in episode 1
i agree. The Riko now learns that she should not be kind in battles and give up half way like she did. it maybe what she think is kindness to others but to her own pokemon and her opponent is nothing but disrespect and joke. Riko at the start was quite a quiet person and now shes more brave willing to risk her life to protect others whether human or pokemon.@@Amethio-Enthusiast

I’m loving this series so much, the story, the characters, the animation, the music etc, the stuff you mention in this video etc. I mean, just.. wow feels like such a breath of fresh air. Sadly because of college I’ve not been able to watch some of the recent episodes. With the dub being out I’m looking forward to seeing the beginning of the series. Also about Ash I’d would to see him more grown up, a bit more mature a new look and all. 🩵💚⚡️🌌
