As someone else said, Martha My Dear is notably more than just basic chords. As is Lady Madonna. Paul could really play when taking the time to construct a piece.
@@caryheuchert I heard an interview with him in which he was asked if there are any instruments that he doesn’t play well. He said, “the instruments you blow into, I’m not very good at them.”
It’s crazy how well it all fits them too. Paul and Ringo’s both favored the left hand (they’re lefties), John’s had that little bit of flair sometimes, and George’s was all about the rhythm and harmonies
I liked this video because you showed the basics of each Beatle. This can give new piano/keyboard players a way to find their own style. Just like how a painter looks for similarities and differences in the works of other artists, takes the knowledge and then puts their own touch on their art. 😊
George Harrison is really using his Guitar knowledge to a piano, while also Paul is doing it at the same time but bass Knowledge, and also Ringo Starr didn't really know the chords of the Piano so George Harrison taught him and also Billy Preston.
Martha My Dear, Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five and Single Pigeon plus many many more really show off Paul's ability. I think you've oversimplified his style
Thank you. Yes, he did a bit. He liked that the piano offered him new possibilities. I know this feeling as I write too and when I play the guitar, I’ll often come up with things I never could on the piano because to be honest I don’t know what I’m playing. I just know that it sounds good!
How the beatles played THESE songs on piano. Hey Jude is not the same as Martha my Dear, Honey Pie or Lady Madonna. Imagine ain't the same style as Oh My Love. 😏
He literally said styles as in their signature styles of playing (such as Let It Be and Hey Jude). Something like Lady Madonna is basically a Fats Domino piano style, not McCartney. Do some homework before "correcting" others
Hey Jude and Let It Be are pretty much Paul's signature piano songs and they share the same style of playing. Yes, it can change, for example Lady Madonna, but a pianist will always have their own style
Wikipedia takes all their sources from Mark Lewisohn, usually, who is considered an expert and worked for Apple Corps. But he’s only human so who knows for sure
Hmm, over simplification, imho. Both John and Paul use inversions and bass notes that are not the chord root. Also, Macca is a much better technician than you give credit for. You don't cover his lock hand technique or his blues/country chromatic grace notes and slides...come on man 😊!
Hi, you are so right. I have since done a much more in-depth video on both Paul and John which you can find on my channel. I’d love to know what you think. :)
Well, that’s quite a generalization. You’re analyzing individual songs (1 for each Beatle), not their “playing style”. Paul and John have many other incredible, complex and beautiful songs written on piano. Come on dude!
Eh, I think Paul is easily a better pianist than Brian. He plays good blues piano but uses it as a compositional tool more than anything, although he has played some interesting parts like Surf’s Up
@@tommybottsI'm a big Beatles fan. Not only that, but Paul is probably my favorite of the 4. He is a legend. He is an amazing songwriter, singer, musician, and performer. No one can deny that. But you don't play chords with your first 3 fingers. Haha.
"anyone can do it"... err, how about NO? Mimicking something already existing and over simplifying it is one thing, composing in a personal peculiar way is totally another. That cannot tipify a piano playing "style", c'mon 😊

This is exactly what’s wrong with the algorithm. Take a look at my latest in-depth videos on Paul and John for a more authentic experience and thanks for the feedback. 🙏☺️
Bad video. Paul and John had much more range on the piano, you just took their most famous songs and decided that it was their "style". Again, you took the one song that George played piano on and decided it was his "style", even though he wasn't even a pianist. And lastly, you did the same sin to Ringo, but screwed him over by using Octopus' Garden, rather than Don't Pass Me By, the only track he played piano on, and in fact the only track that he played ANYTHING other than percussive instruments on. 0/5

Absolutely. I was summing up his ballad style here. I’ll have to do an update!
Martha My Dear came to my mind also, especially when he said "Anybody can do it". But nonetheless, an interesting an informative video.
Although those are definitely mainly chords. He's not wrong.
Paul is quite good at boogie woogie sounds, Lady Madonna is not bad either ! However your video is great, short and clear.
Paul is quite good at boogie woogie sounds, Lady Madonna is not bad either ! However your video is great. And you sing great by the way.
I think you’ve simplified Paul’s playing too much. He’s actually quite good.
No, what actually makes them good is that they are simple and relatable.
@@jamessullenriot Yes, but he’s plays them beautifully.
Exactly Paul uses lots of ornaments and improvisations, beyond the “hammering” style he describes here.
Paul plays EVERY instrument well.

Love this! It amazes me while Lennon and McCartney were not piano virtuosos, they wrote arguably their best songs on piano.
Thank you. Yes, this is so true. You don’t need crazy chord progressions - just the right chord progressions!
Martha My Dear.
Oops. Yes! 😅
It's accurate for a simple comparison. Nice voice!
What three-finger chords is Paul using to play the Lady Madonna riff?

Good points here. Yes, George’s piano style is very strummy like a guitar! Paul is bass aware often using inversions like D/F# (Maybe I’m Amazed).
In one of Ringo’s songs he sings “I play the piano if it’s in C” before going into a boogie woogie break.
There's a drawing by Klaus Voormann of George's peculiar "three finger" piano playing.
Couldnt agree more, i learned the piano playing let it be, golden slumbers and hey jude, simple, but superb, pop songs
Paul also likes to vamp, which is basically the left hand hitting the octaves and moving up or down as the chords in the RH change.
Martha My Dear, Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five and Single Pigeon plus many many more really show off Paul's ability. I think you've oversimplified his style
I love Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five, is goes so against the vocal line it's amazing, so hard to play and sing at the same time
Single Pigeon and When the Night are a great listen back to back.
Kind of like In My Life and Wait.
Yes, I totally oversimplified here but check out my new videos. I go into a lot more depth.
I love the piano of you never give me your money
Brilliant ❤
Thank you!!
Well done! Very well explained.

Paul was more accomplished than John or George on keyboards, but John played some good rhythmic parts on Beatles and solo recordings.
Maybe they all play in a different ways because two of them are lefhanded, Paul and RIngo..
