I absolutely love the name “dark side cliff”. Only if it was a actual trail or glade. Maybe 2022-23 season? Anyway, if it was real it would definitely be a double diamond. Good thing the dark side glades exist (the diamond glade after the cliff)
Hey this is Alex, Im coming up to gore tomorrow for the weekend and I’m wondering where are all the cliffs and best spots to ski because you look like you know the way around the mountain haha.
It’s a bit hard to explain to you where all of the good spots are but I can try my best. Most of the spots I’m going to tell you about are unmarked glades and some are pretty challenging. The first one I’ll tell you is a glade off of foxlair called snoppy’s chute. To find this you want to ski towards the left of fox lair before it turns. Look at the woods and you will probably see a set of tracks. This brings you through the woods, crosses under the gondola and keeps going down some steep terrain. Second place is called cleavage. It is between lies and rumor at the top of the mountain. You can enter it from either lies or rumor at the top of each trail. Just look for tracks and follow them the whole way through. (This is one of the hardest glades on the mountain.) The third is the open pit glades. If you ski down the right side of open pit, you can go into the woods and there will most likely be tracks. If not, it is a great glade to get some fresh pow. The next glade is called fountain and it’s off of lower steilghang. On the right side where it curves, you will see a small drop in. After that it is a really fun short trail often with fresh untracked pow. The trail in the video is pretty easy to find. Follow under the high peaks chair and if you go slightly to the right at the intersection of cloud and open pit, you will see tracks to the cliff. Dark side glades is marked and can be skies under the lift or in the surrounding trees. Best marked glade is ski bowl glades. Almost always has untracked pow. However it is a pain to get to. As far as cliffs go, you can find them on high pines glade (however it’s rarely open.) cave glades also has a cave cliff you can ski off of. It requires you to hike up through the cave and out on top of the cliff. 46er also has fun cliffs. Another place is off of the right side of the top of chatimac. It’s out of the ski boundary so it’s a bit sketchy but it connects to chatimac glades. This last spot I have never skied but only heard about. Only the true locals know about it and I probably shouldn’t be telling you this. If you are super experienced and know how to skin, beyond the midway gondola house, which can be seen from the top ridge chair, is called the playground. It is called some of the best skiing in New York however it’s extremely dangerous and I would find a local who would be willing to take you if you are considering it. I’ve heard there are like 80 foot cliffs that you have to avoid and it’s super steep. You really have to know your way so I recommend you don’t go alone.
Hydroa it’s sad to see the mountain changing like this. Hopefully there will still be some enjoyment to be had on dark side. That lift had so much character, and although I hated how slow it was, it gave the mountain a good feel.
Probably close to 15 feet if I had to guess. However, they out a bunch of rocks on the landing over the summer so you now need way more snow to be able to hit it.
Great video and insight. Heading to Gore this year since VT is out if the question. Ill def be looking for all these runs you mentioned. Thanks bro🤙🤙

@@skiermac4679 Was there the day the new lift opened, Dark side will never be able to be hit again :(
I feel like once they move the trees on the glade, the lift line will be even better
Bruh dark side glades still exists! It’s open right now 🤦♂️
lol I was literally at Gore yesterday
There is a cliff on ruby run
Dave do people really ski off of that??
I saw ski marks off it
How tall is the first cliff, I’ve never been although I really want to try it

@@skiermac4679 Thankyou
They destroyed most of this terrain with the new High Peaks quad that they installed, which seems barely faster than the old double. It’s a shame.
Yep, complete waste of money in my opinion. The lift is the same speed and they screwed up dark side glades.
I honestly the new quad is a serious upgrade because it has a bigger capacity now and it is not as low as the old chair.
What was better with the old chair?
