Other than having to replace the TCM (under warranty), I've got almost 170k km/s out of this car, and it's running great. So good on gas, especially important in this day and age. Nice power thanks to the 6 speed dual clutch, I have no problems passing anyone. I got almost 40 MPG during the summer. Driving this car until it dies!

    Ive done 2 battery swaps on my 2016 focus. You dont have to do all that. Just wiggle the front panel of the battery box open - and tilt it towards you. That gives you enough clearance to tilt the battery backwards (towards the driver) and lift the battery up and out. Its a tight squeeze, but it makes changing the battery so quick!

    Changed the battery in my Mk3 Focus RS today using this video as a guide. Extremely helpful. There are some slight differences to the RS induction system but it’s easy to work out. Remember that the Battery Monitor System needs to be reset after a new battery is fitted otherwise there can be major issues. The process for the RS is to turn the ignition on without starting the engine, pull the headlight flash 5 times then press the brake pedal 3 times. After a few seconds the battery warning light will flash 3 times to confirm that the BMS has been reset.
    Well worth doing when Ford wanted to charge me £275 for a replacement. £135 for a Start/Stop EFB110 12v battery with 5 year guarantee from Halfords.

    Excellent! My EcoBoost engine layout had a few differences from the video around the Air Cleaner but it was obvious what was needed after watching the video. There was no need to disconnect the vacuum hose in my layout. Really had to pull Air Cleaner assembly hard upwards but video gave confidence to do it. All went well, a bit fiddly and I guess it took me about an hour and a quarter not including getting my tools together and clearing up. Delighted to find radio, electric windows and engine management working perfectly. Thanks Haynes.

    Just a quick question as I can't find any information online :D except for this video. Do you need to program the battery or "let the car know" there is a new battery in the car or just reprogramming the windows does the trick?

    • @HaynesManuals
      @HaynesManuals  3 роки тому +1

      According to our manual: 'Reconnect the battery when all work is complete. Reach through the open drivers window and turn the side lights on for a few minutes. This will allow any accumulated surface charge on the battery to dissipate. Enter the vehicle and turn the ignition on. Wait for a minute or so before starting the car. The short waiting time will allow all the modules in the vehicle time to ‘boot ‘ up and stabilise. Note that it may take several drive cycles for the engine management system to fully re-learn the optimum operating strategy. Where one touch power windows are fitted initialise them'

    Some Focus versions (mine is 2016 Ford Focus 1. Ecoboost) have shorter battery (278mm versus 315mm depicted in the video) which can be replaced without doing all of this. Just unhook the front panel of the battery well (black box around it). Not sure if these longer batteries can be replaced that way, but I managed to do it with shorter one (and that shorter battery, model D54, 65Ah, is recommended by Varta for my Ford model, and was originally installed in the car - however, I installed Yuasa of the same dimensions and capacity).

    You don’t need to remove the air filter assembly to replace the battery. Just disconnect the terminals and you can easily remove the battery. This is the worst tutorial I’ve ever seen.

    Helpful video, but if you are going to talk that fast it ought to be in a high squeaky voice. Also, perhaps taking a breathe between actions perhapsAt least enough time to hit pause. And the mother of the engineer that designed all those goofy connections insertions and holding clips. As each one was different, it would have been useful for a closeup of the clip and how it is fastened/unfastened. There would have been less swearing.
    I still swear there was an extra connect at the end that wasn’t in the disassembly. Not funny at that moment. Not funny yet.

      If you can't follow along, you can use the pause feature until you're caught up. Additionally, you can click on the little gear on the bottom right of the video (settings) and adjust the playback speed to get his voice to a speed that you can understand.
      This video was free. If you aren't happy with it, you can watch one of the other free videos on youtube showing you how to repair your car for free. It's not anyone's fault you had trouble...and believe me I've had enough trouble with these batteries myself. I don't remove the airbox, but just pry it out. It sucks any way you slice it.
