  • In Exodus 11, God announces the final plague that will strike Egypt: the death of all firstborns. Moses warns Pharaoh of the impending disaster, declaring that this event will lead to the Israelites' release. Despite the warning, Pharaoh's heart remains hardened, setting the stage for a dramatic and divine intervention.
Psalm 78:5-8 recounts God's establishment of a testimony in Jacob and a law in Israel, instructing the forefathers to teach their children. This generational transmission of God's deeds and commandments is meant to inspire trust in God, ensure obedience to His laws, and prevent rebellion and forgetfulness, unlike their ancestors who were stubborn and unfaithful.
Proverbs 28:24 underscores the severity of stealing from one's parents and justifying it. It equates such an act to being a companion to a destroyer, highlighting the moral and ethical breakdown in familial relationships and the broader community implications of such actions.
John 16:16-33 captures a moment of deep teaching from Jesus to His disciples. He speaks about His impending departure and return, causing confusion and sorrow among them. Jesus assures them that their grief will turn to joy, using the analogy of a woman in labor whose pain transforms into joy once her child is born. He promises that their future prayers in His name will be answered by the Father. Jesus concludes by telling them that although they will face tribulation in the world, they can take heart because He has overcome the world.
