Why pistols and not sword or mace in mainhand?

Mace sure is worth a try (especially in projectile hate matchups), another CC is always nice to have and the leap providing a bit of extra sustain on a low CD is good as well.
Sword I don't like as much because it doesn't provide much extra utility. The leap's on a higher CD, the Quickness duration just too short to be of much value (I think it suits glassier burst builds better) and playing with Thermal Release Valve makes the >50% bonuses unreliable / short-lasting.
Pistol #2 is decent damage and hampers sustain, while #3 is another bit of defense from attacks (and decent damage for it's cast time when it bounces). Pistol skills overall are easier to weave into your other attacks because they are ranged. So you'll more reliably proc Explosive Entrance at range with a quick shot, rather than having to switch to egun and use the slower Tranq Dart.
I'm also just much more used to Pistol :D
