something something "on the day i pay any heed to what you say" can't make out the first part but i imagine it's in the spirit of "pigs will fly on the day..."
He came all the way from England when younger - as a child, I'm not sure? which is good, because 1) it still makes sense 2) as great as an actor he is you probably still couldn't turn Ian McShane into a fully belieavable "total" American
because just like Wild Bill, she had a heart of gold and the best of intentions, but a propensity toward violence and an addiction problem. Utter tried to take care of both of them for as long as he could and even in extreme situations. He was a true friend. The actress that played Jane was one of the standout performances on the show, even in such a talented cast.
Charlie is also something of a codependent nurse. He cares for wounded, passionate people like Bill and Joanie and to a lesser extent Bullock. Charlie is sturdy as a fucking rock, so he can shoulder the shortcomings of others.
Robin should have won an Emmy for this scene alone
Amen to that. She is absoultely phenomenal. Probably my favorite character on the show too, and that is saying something.
The best television show EVER. The dialogue is absolutely priceless.
Robin.....as Calamity..you were amazing...
If there was one man I'd ever want to cover my back in any situation, it'd be Charley Utter.
Come to any way at all, I never seen a man stand him down.
Yup🍻
“You have at that man, and you won’t come out that joint alive” remains the soundest advice uttered(!) in this series.
Charlie is such a nice and proper uncle that even Jane can submit herself to cry on his shoulder
Two great actors show you how it's done.
Wild Bill Hickok. If Jane told him what happened, he'd have probably killed Al for sure.
Eh maybe. He didn’t “do” anything just seemed threatening at the time. He backed off when Dan and Doc Cochran fed him that bs story though.
These two characters are emotionally so constipated in such different ways.
this scene was insane
Charlie would've made a great father
1:20 - what did she say here? I think at the end I heard "and he's the one you save" but I'm not even sure about that.

@@xellestar Thanks!
@@xellestar Now that I have that, I think I have the rest - "Sun ain't rose on the day I pay any heed to what you say."
I wonder why she calls AL limey? Ian McShane is in character as an American isn't he??
he is from england

@@cromandum217 The real Al Swearengen was from Iowa.
Why was Jane the only person Charlie took shit from?

They were friends, simple as that.

Like the guy said, they were friends, they traveled together. Been through the sh!t together. Simple as that👍
