If you've ever installed any aftermarket alarm system, or door locks, or hood pop sensors, etc. you will inevitably come across a part that only works when given a ground connection.
It makes sense to me, that if I know I have to run a wire all the way from the back of the car, up to the front so that it can connect to the battery under the hood, that its arguably safer to do that with a ground wire.
Normally if a ground wire gets pinched or cut into on accident, there's no sparks, no voltage zapping things, and no popping of fuses.
Do the same thing though with a live 12v wire, and you'll have to deal with blown fuses, melted wires, sparks, and ultimately stuff just not working.
So todays video just breaks down one of the ways to use our little 5 legged friend, the Relay, do use ground to power up a very specific use case: Ghozt Lighting Sequencer powered Tail Lights.
I'm actually super pumped about building lights that have extra functions built in by using things like relays. For example, doing most tail lights, the builder would sacrifice 1 of the 2 awesome show mode functions of the Ghozt V5 Sequencer, in trade for that input being used to trigger the reverse LEDs.
Well I like to have my cake and eat it too!
That's why I started using this technique to swap power to ground, and lighting up LEDs using the existing circuit originally intended for that very thing, so I can play with Show mode 1, AND Show mode 2 on my Ghozt Sequencer :)
Let me know how you would use this relay setup, and definitely check out my other video on relays if you want to really stretch your brain and get creative with me on my last video about them :)
Have a great weekend!

Can you help me with some advice please? I have the classic mini led halo headlights. My issue is the drl white ring switches off when I use the turn signal. Can I get a module or something to keep the drl rings lit while I use turn signal. Like you did with the reverse light and turn signal in this video.. tia..
Thanks dude quick relay lesson.
This was an exceptional tutorial video Chris. I love it when you show strange circumstances videos. Please do more of these because they are the most interesting!
my brain almost drain how to connect my negative triggered horn module from a positive to negative all videos i spent watching are all trash do not answered my problem untill i viewed this wow bro u saved my brain this is the best tutorial the answer that im searching and you are worth the sub bro
I would have never guessed to use a relay! Those taillights are amazing now!!
Very nice indeed!! Where can I get those LED white/sequential yellow boards? Thanks.
I’m taking your class rn and soon will be paying for the paid course
Watching legit all your videos and liking all your content.
I want to start a business of my own but really only for family hahah
Keep up the great work man!

These LEDs are sick! Great video, very informative. Never thought to send ground through a relay... Awesome! Would be awesome to pick your brain on this E-bike I converted from a Trek 3900. I built my own turn signal setup. I could definitely see a set of these to replace the incandescent bulbs that I began with.
Great lesson, relays are a lost skill since most vehicles come factory with antitheft and remote start. They just don't get used as often. 👍
I need to just hang out a few more videos and have a Relay playlist on the channel
Dude its only beacuse I met you I know a relay can be wired to send ground " EXPERIMENT FRIDAYS TO DA WORLD💯💯💯💚💚💚💚💚
That looks dope😎👌🏼👌🏼
If red rear indicators are allowed depends on the country.
For instance, in the Netherlands, they are allowed. That's why my Sonoma still has the US taillight setup.
Wowww. Thats some kool lights..😲👍🙏
this knowledge will be great to implement
Glad to hear that buddy!
Can you do the same to do dual duty for rear fog/reverse light?
thanks bro...
Could the cool lights you have for the GT-R be applied on a R34 Skyline? 😛
Would this work also for switching a horn relay for a keyless entry system? My horn I believe needs to be switched to ground, but the keyless system outputs positive
so im trying to wire up rocker side marker lights that are white when the door opens and changes to amber when the door closes but issue im running into is the white light power is always hot there fore when the door closes the white lights stay on and don't change over to amber. what do you think i could do to fix this issue i have seen it done but nobody explained how to actually do it thanks!
Which taillights are things?
pide mag order ng ganyan
Where are you located? Like to have some Headlights and taillights modified for my 3is Lexus. And my taillights for my CHEVY SS. Thanks let me know
Hey dude, shoot me a DM on instagram.com/Flyryde
So a mosfet would be simpler (could go into the taillight), smaller, more energy-saving, lifelong, and actually the technically better solution
I’d love to find out if I agree with that 👍
I wish I understood Mosfets. I hear they are good for so many things. Even bought a bunch of 12V constant ones for builds but have yet to try them.
@Katsu Kan sir do you also have tutorial for that pls share the knowlegde not just giving idea make it detailed please
Hey can you help me i got a back light Who need 2 positiv one for breaklight and one driver light on me trailer can you please help me 🙏🙏
I have a question and im hoping u can help answer it. How can I contact you more direct and see if you can help me get past this wall im stuck at. Thank you
How to change positive to negative
Me an intelectual: its easy, just dont connect it, its a little harder to change negative to positive
What dual color led medallion is that? Doing a Jeep front turn signal project and the size looks close.
Likely something from Korea or something specific for the GTRs

@@keithpoley3432 Haven't found 'em. If anyone's got a source/link, t'would be appreciated.
@@briancrockett76 I do custom lights too, I'll do some searching for you and see what I can find. I've never seen them before myself but they are a pretty cool little combo.
Damn I can't find those anywhere. Few similar things for like motorcycles that are 4" with bi-color LEDs (I'm guessing that's a 4" area in the GTR tails) circular that could be dismantled and modified but that's a hassle. I think he probably has the PCBs custom made =[ you'd need a controller like a Ghozt too obviously by how he shows they can work in sync with the Red brake LEDs etc.
Hopefully he gets back to this because I want to grab some of those for projects too
