Aspects of the story were certainly altered for purposes of political/religious convenience, I don't dispute that. However, I would expect people to take this into account, along with the fact that the writers had a clear agenda, when reading the gospels.
The claim that Jesus did not believe he was divine, which I have heard from atheists far more frequently than from the religiously observant, is nonsense. 'I am the way, the truth, and the life', is as clear a statement as you could hope to find. And what else are we supposed to make of the statement about sitting at God's right hand?
One of the main reasons the pharisees were so outraged by Christ is because they believed he committed blasphemy on more than one occasion.

Jesus said, “Do not tell anyone who I am” because as a messianic Messiah it was fantasized and preached especially after the days of the Maccabees, to deliver from under the Roman occupation/rule and restore the Dravidic kingdom.
But throughout the ministry of Jesus, he preached that He is and was the lamb of God, the sacrificial lamb of Moses for our sins. Moses said, without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin.
Christianity is not a gentile concept. It was conceived and given to the world through Jews; if you don’t like it and you prefer your traditions, then you are totally lost and bound to your sins. 😢

    Fixing the ancient Persian Timeline:
The overview is that the Greeks, Plato and Xenophon, added 56 extra years to the Greek timeline. In addition, the Persians removed 26 years from the Neo Babylonian timeline, requiring them to revise all Neo Babylonian records in year 22 of Darius II while he was king of Babylon. The combined effect resulted in an (26+56=) 82-year distortion of the timeline for the beginning of the Persian Period. Thus the date of 537 BCE is some 82 years too early. The original year for the return from Babylon was actually (537-82=) 455 BCE.
In 1913, Martin Anstey notes that when you begin the "70 weeks" prophecy in the 1st of Cyrus, it shows us that the Persian Period is some 82 years too long, requiring us to remove 82 fake years from this period. Here is his quote:
Martin Anstey, "Romance of Bible Chronology," Chapter: XXVIII: Comparative Chronology, page 286: "At the very point at which the Old Testament, the Apocryphal literature, Josephus, the classics, the Cuneiform Inscriptions of Persia and the tablets of Babylonia all fail, Ptolemy fails also. These 82 years are years that never existed except in the constructive imagination of the Chronologer. They are years in which the sun never set, and on which the light never shone."
Jehovah's Witnesses date 455 BCE to the 20th of Artaxerxes. However, this prophecy is month-specific! Christ dies in the middle of the 70th week during Passover week. In order for that to work, the prophecy must begin in the Fall during the seventh month. The work Nehemiah did was repair work on the walls which only took 52 days. The work did not begin in the seventh month. Plus the wall and the temple had already been rebuilt. The most direct reference and the earliest possible reference to the "word going forth to rebuild Jerusalem" would be when the Jews first returned in the 1st of Cyrus. Of course, we notice that the work specifically began on the 1st day of the seventh month! So we actually have no choice but to insert the Bible's timeline here, which requires us to date the return in 455 BCE.
it's easy to remove the fake 82 years from the Persian Period. Per Ezra 6:14,15, Darius I only ruled for 6 years instead of 36 years as the Greek historians claim. We also learn that Xerxes and Artaxerxes, Longimanus were the same king. This can easily be confirmed by looking at the bas reliefs at Persepolis! This removes 30 years from Darius I and 21 years for the extra rule of Xerxes. So right up front we have identified 51 fake years. Another 30 years is removed from the 47-year rule by Artaxerxes II, who only ruled for 17 years. One year is removed from the 8-year rule of Cambyses who only ruled for 7 years. Thus a total of 82 fake years are easily removed from the Persian timeline.
Removing the rake 56 years from the Greek period is also easy. That's because of two important eclipses that occur in connection with two wars. There was a total eclipse seen by Pericles in the first year of the Peloponnesian War and an eclipse in the early Spring seen by Xerxes when he began his invasion of Greece. The PPW originally occurred in 403 BCE but was moved back to 431 BCE. This added an extra 28 years to the timeline. Then 30 years were added between the two wars. This added a total of 58 years to the timeline. Thus Xerxes' invasion was moved back 58 years from 424 BCE to 482 BCE. However, 482 BCE was not an Olympic year and so it got moved down 2 years to 480 BCE. But we notice there was no eclipse in the early Spring in 480 BCE, confirming this is a bogus date.
The eclipse seen by Pericles was a very specific eclipse event and it has only one possible match during this entire time: January 18, 402 BCE. That means the PPW began in the Summer of 403 BCE, which matches the first year of the Olympic cycle. A 30-year peace agreement between Greek city-states was enacted when Xerxes began his invasion. This 30-year peace agreement ended in the 10th year of the PPW. The 10th year ended in 394 BCE and so that dates Xerxes' invasion 30 years earlier in 424 BCE. Was there an eclipse in the early Spring in 424 BCE? Yes! We are so done here.
The Battle of Marathon occurred 10 years earlier and so must be dated to 434 BCE. Per the esoteric history of Herodotus, Darius I died at Marathon. If so, this was his sixth year and the same year the temple was completed at Jerusalem after 21 years of construction. If we add 21 years to 434 BCE, the return from Babylon gets dated to 455 BCE. Big surprise.
In this case, many people hearing this for the first time may remain skeptical. No problem, because once you dig deeper and do your research, you are only going to find more evidence for the conspiracy. Case in point the historical anecdote linking Plato to solving the "Delian Problem". The oracle at Delos needed someone to solve a math problem that would double the area of a cube to stop a plague raging in Greece. Plato was consulted in the second year of the PPW to solve the problem. He referred the problem to his mathematician friend, Archytas, who solved the problem. Wonderful. But the real problem is that with the revised timeline, the second year of the PPW now occurs in 430 BCE, which is two years before Plato was born in 428 BCE! ??? Oh really? When the PPW is dated in 403 BCE, Plato would have been 26. That's better, right?
Or if you go to Persia, you will find Darius I talking excessively in three different languages during the first four years of his reign on a sheer cliff at Behistun. He was supposed to have reigned for 36 years. But there's not one peep out of him after that. Rather strange. But it is also consistent with his death during his sixth year as the Bible states. The bas reliefs at Persepolis aren't going to help establish the expanded timeline either. It will show that he died just 3 years after beginning the buildings there. He barely completed only one building, his palace. At Babylon a palace was completed for Xerxes in just 2 years. So no conflict at Persepolis for a 6-year rule for Darius I either! So no problem if you need more evidence. The more you dig, the more evidence you will find about exactly what happened.
Xerxes and Artaxerxes were the same king. But he adopted the name Artaxerxes when he became king of Persia after his father's death. This was not well known in Greece, however. He appears at Persepolis as co-ruler with his father under the name of Xerxes. But after his father died, the compound was completed under his new name of Artaxerxes. So Xerxes appears under both names at Persepolis. If you give a critical look, it is clear that Xerxes and Artaxerxes must have been the same king But otherwise, it appears that three kings built there, not just two. Xerxes took advantage of this to claim that Artaxerxes was his son. Thus all the extensive revisionism of both the Neo Babylonian and Greek timeline was done for political reasons so history would show that Xerxes ruled for 21 years and Artaxerxes ruled for 41 years. The Persians clearly paid Xenophon and Plato to revise the Greek timeline. No big deal. The original timeline is easily recovered.
This is bad news for Jehovah's Witnesses, though. Once the timeline is corrected, the fall of Jerusalem occurs in 529 BCE. If they continue to assert that the Second Coming occurs 2520 years after the fall of Jerusalem, then the Second Coming must be changed from 1914 to 1992. Can the JW organization survive such a critical doctrinal change? I don't think so.
The big question is, if Christ did return in 1992, is he going to embrace and validate the Governing Body? I don't think so.
Anybody is free to search for the truth. That is, if they are interested in the truth or not too lazy. This is not the time to be following others, but a time for an active, personal search for the truth!

Interesting discussion Rabbi. My take why Jesus did not want to be identified as the messiah in Mark is that it would only get in the way of his true calling. Preaching the Good News. Mark 1:14 and 1:38. As you've noted many times, the Jewish Messiah has specific attributes that Jesus will not fulfill. But I think Jesus can be a personal messiah through his preaching even if not the specific Jewish Messiah.

I think most secular scholars do not think Jesus/Ebionite Christians or even Paul were Gnostics. I think a more straight forward explanation was he might not have wanted to go around making such claims given the potential danger it could have caused or put his group in. Im guessing a claim of that nature could have attracted a lot of unwanted attention. Ephesians btw isn't viewed as an authentic Pauline text. Paul generally writes in small sentences. The Greek in Ephesians long flowing very eloquent Greek. If it was written by Paul it certainly wasn't first hand. Only 5 of Paul's writings can historically be attributed to him.

He also instructs somebody who he has healed not to speak of it, which at first glance would seem counter-intuitive given that miracles were supposedly for public consumption (i.e., to provide proof of his divine powers). Once you think it through, you realise that his efforts to conceal his true nature were entirely driven by the desire for self-preservation. Somehow this insight has eluded the omniscient Tovia...

@@tombretislow7091 The NT is a literary disaster; you can't even get past Matthew 1 without finding errors:
The gospel of Mathew was written anonymously. The writer does not identify himself anywhere in the text and writes in the third person.
The writer does not claim to be an eyewitness.
There is uncertainty as to the language Mathew was written in; extant texts are in Greek, but Shem Tob’s Hebrew Gospel of Mathew may be the oldest extant copy. (See “Hebrew Gospel of Mathew” by George Howard)
Mat. 1:17 says the Generations are 14, 14, and 14, but if you count them in Mat. 1 they are 14, 14, and 13.
Mat. 1:11-12 says Jesus came through the lineage of Jeconias, but
Jaconiah was cursed in Jer. 22:30 and was told NONE of his descendants would sit on the throne of David.
Mat. 1 Omits four people listed in Solomon’s lineage in 1 Chron. 3:11-15 to try and make the math come out right. (Ahaziah, Jehoash, Amaziah, and Jehoiakim)
Mat. 1:23 mis-translates Isa. 7:14 which actually says a young woman (Hebrew almah) not a virgin (Hebrew betulah) The sign being given was given to King Ahaz to be fulfilled in his lifetime. The same prophecy includes a verifiable promise: (vs. 16) “…the land of the two kings whom you fear (Rezin and Pekah) will be abandoned.”
2 Kings 16:9 records the death of Rezin (732 B.C.)
2 Kings 15:30 records the death of Pekah (732 B.C.)

It is really quite simple(once it has been revealed to you) why Yahusha(His Name is not Jesus), would say that no one should tell who He is.
The answer is given a few verses earlier.
Mat 16:17 And יהושע answering, said to him, “Blessed are you, Shim‛on Bar-Yonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in the heavens.
It is not for man to decide for other man who to follow. That is man’s free will choice and will be revealed by Yahuah.
Joh 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name He might give you.
The belief in Yahuah is a secret and the common unbeliever will never get it. This has very much to do with the punishment of the people of Yisrael. Them being scattered amongst the nations, and the House of Yisrael still being dispersed. Who Yahusha came for Mat 15:24.
We see this pointed out in the following Scripture reference:
Rom 11:25 For I do not wish you to be ignorant of this secret, brothers, lest you should be wise in your own estimation, that hardening in part has come over Yisra’ěl, until the completeness of the nations has come in.
Completeness of the nations is the return of the House of Yisrael. We see this today, after the punishment has been lifted in 2009, many has come back to their Hebrew roots.
But there are still many blinded because of the punishment, and as a result of their desire to hold on to the flesh(christian theology), rather than to submit to the truth of Yahuah.
This will be revealed to His chosen only:
Col 1:26 the secret which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His set-apart ones,
And Tovia will not understand this either, as he refuses to accept Yahusha Messiah.
The secret is Yahusha in us…
Col 1:27 to whom Elohim desired to make known what are the riches of the esteem of this secret among the nations: which is Messiah in you, the expectancy of esteem,
Yahusha in us is the Gospel message to those who will accept Him. With Him living in us, we have the power to overcome sin and death.
The majority of christians are of the Northern House of Yisrael. They just don’t know it. The punishment was that they would be scattered amongst the nations, intermarry with them, accept their beliefs and traditions. Become like them!
Now that the punishment is lifted, they need to come out from among them(2Cor 6:14-18). But most christians like it very much where they are. They have to find their way back now. This will only happen when they accept Yahusha. Love Him and obey His Torah.
Your obedience to Him is the evidence of your love for Him:
Joh 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.
This has never changed throughout Scripture…
Deu 5:29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them, to fear Me and to guard all My commands always, so that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
Then you would receive the Spirit of Yahuah AND Yahusha in you. The secret revealed.
Joh 14:23 יהושע answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our stay with him.
    HalleluYAH!!!
Now lest go back to Mat 6:20.
At that time NOT even the disciples received the Spirit, because Yahusha had to Teach them. Look at Mat16:17 again, what did Yahusha say to Peter/Kepha? Only he knew who Yahusha was, BECAUSE it was revealed to him by the Father.
At that time Yahusha was on earth to reveal Yahuah to man. It had to be given from Him, not of man. Till man was ready to go and proclaim the Word of Yahuah.
When would this be? Look at these amazing words…
Joh 20:21 Then יהושע said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Joh 20:22 And having said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Set-apart Spirit.
Till the moment man received the Spirit of Yahuah, it was not man’s to give. Today, you find so many false teachers, because it was not given to them to share.
And Tovia is right that the whole world will know, that the true Messiah has come. They do know, they just don’t accept Him. Which is also prophesied. Broad is the way for the sinner, and narrow the way for the servant of Yahuah.
    HalleluYAH!!!

The reason He had a ministry of a short period is to give proof of His divine power through performing real miracles and consequently raise His chosen followers to spread the gospel. Although mankind is not worthy of such grace the time is still given for us to repent and turn to His Kingdom. Life is to short to reject God Most High.

Jesus sometimes instructed His disciples to keep His identity as the Messiah a secret for several reasons. Firstly, He wanted to avoid any premature confrontation with the religious and political authorities. At that time, many people had misconceptions about the role of the Messiah, expecting a political deliverer who would overthrow Roman rule. Jesus aimed to reveal His true mission gradually, allowing people to understand that His kingdom was not of this world, but a spiritual reign focused on redemption and salvation.
In Mark 8:30-31, for example, it's clear that Jesus knew His destiny involved suffering and death, which His disciples could not fully understand at the time: "But Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him. Then Jesus began to tell them that the Son of Man must suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but three days later he would rise from the dead."
By controlling the revelation of His identity, Jesus was guiding His followers to comprehend the true nature of His mission-centered on love, sacrifice, and resurrection. In doing so, He carefully prepared them for the eventual spreading of the Gospel after His resurrection, when the Holy Spirit empowered them to be His witnesses.

@JBeatz14 the only support that the newtestament has, is itself.
It claims to be true, simply because it Claims to be true. In fact, most of the newtestament isn't new, but a retelling of the original stories.
Example: Moses in the desert 40 years.
Jesus in the wilderness 40 days
In Hebrew, both of the words probably reflect the same thing. An uninhibited area.
Johna in the belly of the fish 🐟
Jesus in the grave- both are a 3 day time period.
Now if you read the war with the jews, josephus writes about the battles.
It's pretty much clear that flavian signature is upon the Jesus fable..
Jesus waited 3 days before entering the city.
Titus flavius/ maybe Augustus flavius, rode around the walls of the city for 3 days, forming his battle plans before the attack..
And many more issues are there..the reason why is because religion has been and still is, a tool used to control people. Control nations.
Clearly Paul wrote a few books. 7 at least, maybe more. Yet he tells you to do opposite of what Jesus said to do. Christianity is a mixed religion of the Roman, Hindu, greek ,and other pagan religions. . Egyptian, Samaria, byzantine.
Babylonia. If you can't connect it to historical evidence, it is not a good idea to believe that it's right.

or a sheep silent before shearers,

Seized and condemned, he was taken away.
Who would have thought any more of his destiny?
For he was cut off from the land of the living,
struck for the sins of his people.
He was given a grave among the wicked,
      a burial place with evildoers,
Though he had done no wrong,
nor was deceit found in his mouth.
But it was the LORD’s will to crush him with pain.
By making his life as a reparation offering,
he shall see his offspring, shall lengthen his days,
and the LORD’s will shall be accomplished through him.
      Because of his anguish he shall see the light;
      because of his knowledge he shall be content;
My servant, the just one, shall justify the many,
      their iniquity he shall bear.
Therefore I will give him his portion among the many,

He was given authority over all spiritual forces of evil and His Kingdom was established on earth. Through faith in Him we have been given the Holy Spirit to live in us to begin the transformation process to make us whole and become ambassadores of His Kingdom to this fallen world. His death and resurrection ripped the curtain in the Holiest of Holies, thus signifying our ability to have relationship with His father God. We know live for Him and when we obey Him and love others, even our enemies the way He loves us, we further His Kingdom. Jesus still loves you Sam. He wants a relationship with you. Even despite your anger and frustration towards him. ❤
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s clear you’ve taken some time to think about this topic, and I appreciate the opportunity to discuss it further. You mentioned that Paul and the Apostles never reference Gospel events, suggesting they were unaware of them. This is an interesting idea, but if we look deeper into Scripture, we see evidence that Paul was very familiar with these events. May I share some examples?
For instance, in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Paul directly references the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. He even emphasizes that these events happened “according to the Scriptures,” showing they align with Old Testament prophecies as well as the oral traditions passed down before the Gospels were written. This is consistent with the accounts later written in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Additionally, Paul quotes Jesus directly in Acts 20:35, showing he was familiar with Jesus’ teachings. And in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Paul recounts the institution of the Lord’s Supper, which is also detailed in the Gospel accounts.
It’s a common misconception that the Gospels were the only source of information about Jesus. However, the early church relied heavily on oral tradition, and Paul’s letters reflect these traditions as well as his own encounters with Jesus and the Apostles. The Gospels themselves were written later to preserve these teachings in a cohesive format for future generations.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and share more if you’re interested. These details often get overlooked, but studying them together can give us a richer understanding of the early church and its teachings. If you’re interested, reading Acts alongside Paul’s letters can show how interconnected they are. N.T. Wright’s work on Paul is also a fantastic resource to explore how his teachings align with the life of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels.

Using the Jewish calendar dating chronology:
    Tisha B'av:
    1st 50 year Jubilee 424 BC / 422 BC
    2nd 50 year Jubilee 374 BC / 372 BC

    - Feasts
    - Second Exodus Generation
    66-70 AD: 2nd Coming
1). AD 26/28 - Yeshua begins fulfilling the soteriological (Lk. 4/Isa. 61) and eschatological 10th. cycle of the Jubilee and is “cut off” - inaugurating the NC age - First half of Daniel’s last “7.”

Wow! This is a surprise, I almost completely agree with the Rabbi.
But let’s actually get to the crux of the matter. First let’s uncluttered what the rabbi said, Ephesians is psuedo Pauline and probably written after Matthew.
To reaffirm what the Rabbi said, Matthew was written after Mark which was written after the epistles of Paul.
But let’s get back to the crux of the problem and it’s actually two fold. First and primarily the attested Yeshu was a Jewish mystic with some Eastern Mediterranean leanings and, also, he taught mysticism. This is why, in the Pauline epistles Paul is pointing out people who are ‘further out on a limb’ than he is. So the second issue is not that bizarre, Paul is also a mystic. However he claims in Galatians that his gospel is completely his own, he spent 2 weeks with Cephas and learned nothing. Other than that Paul claims he had no ‘instruction’ giver for his gospel
And so where does 1 cor 15 come from? But even if we set aside 1 cor 15, we have the 2 cor 12 ‘I once knew a man’ in which Paul is describing a form of Hekhalot mysticism and we have to ask the question who taught Paul this. Paul infers that if the entity who instructed him these things knew what he was telling would trouble him. So it appears Paul did have some kind of mystical teacher, but not a sanctioned part of the Jerusalem cult and he spent 3 years in the Aravah doing this.
In Mark the mysterious Jesus is carried forward, but Mark contradicts 1 cor 15, and Marcion’s version of Corinthians is missing 1 cor 15 equivalent. In Matthew’s the idea of 1 cor 15 is repeated but with “and some believed”. This may have been the source of 1 cor 15 edited into Corinthians later.
And so we are clearly here at the heart of the problem. Who believed what, when, and why. Paulogia has extensively posted online about this topic and if you are interested this is a good source.
My opinion is Mark’s passion narrative is almost entirely made up. I get from Q that instructions were given, the men left, 2 by 2, Yeshu was alone with some women, the Herodians came, took him, tortured him and handed him to Pilot in bad condition.
Meanwhile the disciples, either returning to Jerusalem or still on the road were informed of his death and thus began to make their way back to Galilee via Pella. Some had visions, we don’t know how many, maybe some thought he was a messiah. This might be what Matthew is referring to. It’s not clear.
Paul appears to have contact with a mystic familiar with Yeshu mystical traditions. But we should note something about my comments above. The comments above are less about Yeshu than other people. In other words Yeshu is secondary to an evolving Christology, as the Rabbi points out it’s a developing mystery religion. But let me correct the Rabbi, while there were protognostic tendencies in Greco-Roman Jesus following, the Gnosticism largely develops after the failed revolts had ended in disaster and were rooted in the growing Jewish-Jesus movement. We often think oh the Roman’s razed the land and killed all the Levantine Jews. No, people largely run away. They run to Parthia, to less Greco-Roman parts of Egypt and to Arabia, places where the apostles of the Jerusalem organization had previously set up separate Jewish places of retreat. And so we have refugees arriving into these communities of following probably with some anger at these revolutionaries that disrupted their existence, a vulnerable population in the later half of the second century. This is where Gnosticism comes from.
But this was preceded by protognostic texts, like the primitives of the Gospel of Tomas and the third layer of the gospel of John. These represent a different period after the attempted purge by Ananus Ben Ananus in 63 CE and the fall of Jerusalem when different feelings were surfacing regarding the prophesy of Paul and its obvious failure. People began to try to restructure the coming kingdom so that it fit a more mystical participation rather than an actual return of a Messiah to a godly kingdom established on Earth.
I think this is very important as it emphasizes the very troubled history of messianic prophesy, that being failure, repeated failure. And different groups, having failed tried to reinvent themselves often with more mystical traditions, until the failures are made opaque with the mysterious interpretations.
The messianic predictions of a Davidic style kingdom are failures, from the first to the last and all in between. If you read Judges and Samuel, it is made clear that the high god of the Israelites did not want a king for the people. It does not say that the god will cleanse the kingship of all the vices, it repeats three times how kings will give the people ‘the shaft’. You can almost bet that if there was a Samu’El, that he was a functionary of the priesthood of ‘El, that this wilderness tabernacle god, even from the 21st century BCE was not a city-state god with cozy relationships between high priests and kings like you see in 2 kings, but purposefully distant from kings perched on far away mountains and looking over the people of the land. The reasons that the prophets of messiahs great and small seem profane is because the tradition itself is a profanity of the evolution away from Isra’el into squabbling kingdoms.

You provide fascinating commentary on the Christian Bible, thank you. I had heard from Christians that Jesus wanted his messianic status to remain secret because otherwise, he would be killed. Your explanation makes more sense. I don't think Jesus actually said any of it. I think they were words put into his mouth by the author of Matthew, to make it look as if Jesus was on top of everything, was omniscient to it all, as a God incarnate must be. You couldn't very well portray him as venturing to Jerusalem, unaware of his own fate.

The author of the Markan narrative goes out of his way to have his reader/audience serve as sole witness to many events of which he, himself, could not possibly have had any knowledge:
    1. Only Jesus, himself, hears the heavenly voice, ”You are my beloved son …” and sees the Holy Spirit descend upon him in the form of a dove.
    2. The man with the unclean spirit recognizes Jesus as “Thou son of the most high God”.
    3. The remote healing of the Syro-Phoenician woman’s daughter “And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed”.
    4. The Passover visitor compelled to carry Jesus’ cross for him whose name and place of origin are, somehow, known to the author - as well as the names of two of his sons, Alexander and Rufus.
    5. Pilate marvelling that Jesus had already died within mere hours of being crucified.
    And finally:
    6. The three women running off, at the end, after being informed that Jesus had risen, afraid, telling no one - leaving the author’s reader/audience, once again, sole witness to events of which he, himself, could not possibly have had any knowledge.

*_GayZEUS_* of the Synoptic Gospels is a literary character invented by the Romans to promote the recent arrival of the Flavian dynasty to imperial power, creating an archetype of messiah towards which all preexisting Jewish prophecies converged. The aim was (1) to empty Jewish concepts, hijacking the messianic hope and solidifying a controversial archetype of Jewish messiah, (2) to blame the Jews for their own destruction in the war of Jerusalem in 70 and (3) to exalt the Flavian dynasty of emperors. The content of the message propagated by the characters in the narrative portrays an agenda of political accommodation, preservation of the imperial “status quo”, anti-Judaism and military indoctrination: both for Roman soldiers and for colonized civilians. Soldiers are often the recipients of the teachings of the Gospels, which occur both explicitly (as in Luke 3:14, when John the Baptist recommends that soldiers be content with their pay, just as Rome advised those recruited for military service) and implicitly (as in Luke 9:23, when the instruction is given to abandon everything - family, friends, work - and follow the leader, just as the government wanted the soldiers to do). There is also abundant teaching reinforcing the civil obligation to serve soldiers, including obeying them for twice the amount required (Matthew 5:41). The character Jesus always presents himself as the reformer of the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:38, correcting Exodus 21:24 on the principle of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”) and the propagator of various Roman laws (as in Mark 10:12 on marriage and in Matthew 22:21 recommending the payment of taxes). Jesus never taught his disciples to love Jews or their relatives, but he *_did teach them to love Romans (Matt. 5:44) and to turn the other cheek (Matt. 5:39). The Flavian Theory, therefore, not only presents a coherent argument for the literary origins of Jesus, but also highlights the Romans' ability to use religion as a tool of sociopolitical control._*

I’m lately of the theory that Jesus, deposed lineage of David, was married to a member of the defunct Hasomonean line (Maccabees) and this is why Herod the Tetrarch had him killed. Paul and company transfer the blame onto the Sanhedrin who didn’t even know who Jesus was when they conducted interviews with.Peter and John. Herod had already killed John the Baptizer and could not afford to be directly involved with another Essene death. Paul reveals he is a Herodian Jew, if Jewish at all when he goes “Herodion, my kinsman.” Also supposedly Paul worked for Caiaphas which is an impossibility if Paul was the Pharisee he claimed to be since Sadducees and Pharisees are bitter opponents. Caiaphas was a Sadducee. Paul could’ve been a Sadducee if he was Jewish.

In Matthew 16, Jesus told his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah because he wanted to control the timing and understanding of his identity, preventing people from misinterpreting his role as a political leader and focusing instead on the true meaning of his mission, which would be fully revealed through his death and resurrection; essentially, he wanted to let his actions and teachings define who he was, not premature public declarations. He will come again to reign as conquering King.

He's not qualified to be King of the Jews because he's not from the line of David through Solomon; read Matthew 1 and Luke 3. He's also not coming back because he's not God and not a Savior; read Isa. 43:10-11.

      @ I’d say He’s more than qualified:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬
All life came from Him and he physically descended from David in human form, through his mother, as well as descending from David through His adoptive Father, Joseph.

@@danielwhite8168 And I'd say the whole NT is hogwash. You can't even get past Matthew chapter 1 without finding problems:
So that prophecy was fulfilled in 732 B.C.
Numbers 1:2 - Lineage is through paternal lineage, not by adoption.

Since you are asking the question: Jesus didn’t want everybody to know He was the Messiah then because the time had not yet come for it to be revealed and, as usual, the answer is in the gospel itself: Mc 9:2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain on their own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured:
9:3 his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them.
9:4 Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus.
9:9 As they were coming down from the mountain he warned them to tell no one what they had seen, until after the Son of man had risen from the dead.
If you want to know the subject of the discussion among the three, it was about the suffering Messiah.

I will just say, please read Ephesians 3:5 carefully. He does not say that he alone has this knowledge. He says Messiah revealed it to his apostles and prophets. This is the plural. Not Paul alone, but Paul and the other apostles and prophets. So he is not claiming to know what nobody else knows.

Great question, indeed. And Rabbi Singer is correct that Yeshua ("Jesus") never claimed to be the Messiah; all that and the whole "Savior" thing was concocted after the crucifixion by the "apostles."
However, no, Yeshua was not said to have told those He initially healed to keep quiet so as to keep the Messianic claim a secret to later apologetically explain His silence on the matter during His "ministry." And we know this because He later taught openly such that multitudes were reportedly coming to that Messianic conclusion on their own and spreading that rumor such that the High Priests in Jerusalem knew all about it. And yet, obviously Yeshua couldn't have cared less how many falsely thought Him the Messiah as He never requested anyone's silence as they all did so! He never prefaced the Sermon on the Mount or any of His other many public appearances and addresses with... "But don't tell anyone!" Thus obviously, He had no problem with people thinking Him the Messiah. He was happy to let them make that false Messianic assumption time and time again... so long as doing so helped keep them from perhaps figuring out the real truth about Him and His mission here... and perhaps endangering its successful completion.
So what about those earlier occasions when He reportedly DID request others' silence re: His words and actions? The only logical inference here is that there must have been something very special about those earlier occasions that revealed His true mission here, hence why He didn't want it known publicly. And that's why on those occasions He requested their silence.
And obviously, the strategy worked! So much so that to this day, no one has ever figured out what His true mission here was... why He kept it hidden... and why when that true mission became otherwise endangered, He let Himself be betrayed (by all 12 of the "apostles"... not just one) and crucified... so as to be thought dead long enough to fulfill it.
And fulfill it, He did. And so successfully that no one found out about it... until it was too late to be stopped. And once discovered, which I believe those same false "apostles" did... they covered it up and invented the additional narrative that His "Second Coming" would be apocalyptic (end of the World).
So what was His true mission here? Believe it or not, the Synoptic Gospels do a rather amazing job at revealing it... while still remaining hidden within its recountings such that not even the Gospel writers ever realized what was clearly being revealed right there in front of them as they wrote.
Here's the only clue to that REAL mission I will give:
It all had to do with finding and saving "the lost sheep of the House of Israel" (Matt. 10 & 15), then largely confined to the Galilee area. And having found that precious one-of-a-kind "flock", Yeshua literally laid down His life to protect the knowledge of who and what they were from becoming public and endangering them. And to thus protect them, Yeshua removed the danger from their midst by traveling to Jerusalem with those treacherous wolves-in-sheep's-clothing later calling themselves "apostles" who betrayed Him, permitting His own crucifixion as a result... and then returning back to Galilee just as He had promised His REAL disciples before leaving for Jerusalem (His prophesied "Second Coming") immediately after His crucifixion... and rescued those Lost Sheep.
And we know that rescue was successful because from that moment on... ALL of Yeshua's "flock" of Galilean disciples disappear from the historical record at precisely that moment... including both Mary Magdalene and Salome (the two women additionally exhorted by the "angel" at the tomb to immediately go to Galilee where Yeshua would meet them, also).
To this day, that "flock" lies at the heart of what remains the "Mystery of the Kingdom of God on Earth". (And while Saul/Paul may have mentioned "mysteries" often, yet he wasn't the one to first mention this one... which is the only real "mystery" there ever has been. And it remains unknown by the World to this day.)

@kenzo4Ever ... Not sure how this is relevant to my comment. However, I will point out, as Rabbi Singer has, that the term "messiah" (anointed one) is a Biblical term defining any number of powerful men, Jews and Gentiles alike, who greatly helped Israel. Cyrus the Great, the ruler who let the Jews return from Babylon, is also called "messiah" in the Tanakh. However be this as it may, this has nothing to do with the prophesied Davidic Messiah, of which there is prophesied to be only... ONE.

Is it crazy that me someone who doesn’t know much can refute this. Please people never trusts what a man says. Do the research yourself. Isaiah 11:9 is talking about the reign of God that will come. When peace on earth will come. Peter saying this will never happen then being rebuked by the Lord . Saying you are focused on things of this world and not heavenly things. What heavenly things? Perhaps he could mean when he sacrificed himself for the sins of the world to reconcile us to God. It’s very simple and I challenge anyone to do this. Find someone who is a proclaimed follower of Christ who has the works to show they have given their life to Christ and ask them about their relationship with the Holy Spirit. Do this enough times and you will realize their answers sound the exact same. Then find self proclaimed followers of Christ who you see messing up and do not show so signs of following Christ. Ask them about their relationship with the Holy Spirit and see for yourself how they will stumble and be revealed. Don’t condemn them but use this info to realize there is a spiritual change when you actually receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Love yall and I pray the Lord God lays a heavy hand upon your hearts and leads you to find Him.

Ignorance clouds understanding. This is it: every season has its appointed time. When Yeshua instructed his disciples not to reveal his true identity to the public, it was because the time for his ascension had not yet come. That moment unfolded later, after his resurrection. Seek Hashem with an open heart, and ask for revelation. It's as straightforward as that.

Yahweh (Jesus before incarnation) did the same thing. That is discipline the chronically unbelieving by allowing them to be blind and go their own stubborn way. See Yahweh ordaining that false prophets lie to King Ahab telling him what he wanted to hear. (First Kings chapter 22). Even then Micaiah prophesied the truth to give Ahab yet one more chance to repent of his rebellion.

Obviously Rabbi Singer does not understand the reason for Jesus' secrecy. He never claimed to be THE Messiah. Rabbi Singer knows that there are many messiahs in Jewish history including the high priest and a Persian king. The problem is that Jewish and Christian theological constructs distorts the Biblical message.

He [the Suffering Servant] was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people [Israel] was he stricken.

Only the recent Bible translations say that Jesus told the disciples not to tell anyone that he is the Messiah. There are errors and complete omissions in some of the newer Bible versions when compared to the older Bible versions, such as the KJV and John Wycliffe 1382 Bibles. In the older books translated into English, Jesus told the disciples not to tell any man that he is Jesus Christ, and after this he continued with telling the disciples what must happen to him. But, as mentioned in a few Scriptural verses, his time was approaching, but had not come yet. He still had unfinished work to do. So his identity needed to be concealed for the time being, as the elders and chief priests sought to find him to have him killed. When Jesus' time had come, he sent Judas, his betrayer, to the elders and chief priests and waited in the Gethsemane Garden for Judas to return with them.

In Judaism permitted food is called kosher.
Kosher in Judaism is used much like halal in Islam.
      Pork is forbidden.
      Alcohol is allowed.
(For grape wine to be considered kosher by today's Orthodox Jews, there are additional requirements. Basically it relates to Jews making the wine because in ancient times idol worshippers used wine in their religious practices. Additionally, it was thought that Jews drinking wine with non-Jews could lead to intermarriage.)
