Psalm 22 starts with that haunting cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"-a line full of raw, human pain. But if you read the whole Psalm, it’s not just about despair. It’s a journey from anguish to trust. By quoting it, Jesus wasn’t just expressing His suffering; He was pointing to the bigger picture, a hope beyond the agony. The same Psalm that starts with feeling abandoned ends with confidence in God’s deliverance: "All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord" (Psalm 22:27). It’s a cry that goes beyond the moment, reaching for a promise.
As for the argument that this is all about an emotional high, that oversimplifies things. Yes, the story of Jesus touches deep emotions, but it’s not just about feelings. It’s about the purpose behind His suffering-He wasn’t caught off guard. He knew exactly why He was there: "The Son of Man came... to give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). That’s not some shallow emotional payoff; it’s the ultimate act of love. His suffering wasn’t pointless; it was the cost of redemption, making a way for us to be reconciled to God.
And Jesus wasn’t helpless on that cross. Yes, He was fully human, and He felt real pain. But He also had control over the situation, as He said in John 10:18: "No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord." His death wasn’t the end of the story-it was the path to resurrection and victory over death. This isn’t just about feeling good for a moment; it’s about the hope of something deeper and eternal.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless you all!

So the rabbi says it wasn't a sacrifice but a bonus or a win in the lottery, or a refund, and anyone given the chance would make a dash for it. In practice all the disciples ran away when given the chance to be crucified with Jesus. So when you are standing there in real life, facing the reality of it, you will not want to face the cross. One further point, to face the cross when you are 100% innocent and without sin, is a completely different matter than getting the just reward for your sinful life.

I feel like the only people who wouldn't take that deal would be people who had doubt. If men who actually spent time with Jesus in person still had doubts how much of a chance do we have a couple THOUSAND years later?

@RickHaydnHorst I think there is a chance mark was “real”. Aka it is pretty close to what the people around Jesus actually believed and it was close enough to his lifetime where the story had not evolved much. There are very few supernatural claims in mark. The gospels get more anti-Jewish and more and more supernatural from there.

    • @joshuacox183
      @joshuacox183 6 місяців тому +1

@RickHaydnHorst accurate and fictional are not the same things. Fiction requires the author to know he is making it up. Inaccurate just means the author’s pov wasn’t really the reality.
Mark is the oldest gospel, also the least supernatural and least anti-Jewish. So it was probably, mostly the way the people there at the time thought it went down.
The theology is very different from the rest of the Bible and such. So it is probably the most reliable part of the NT.

@@dem4life Spoken by someone who has joined a cabal of those faithful to a failed messiah, who understands nothing of the Tanakh (Old Testament),, doesn't care and is not interested in learning.
So just because your pastor wishes to contradict what is written in the Tanakh doesn't make him right. Christians are oh so ready to play fast and loose with facts to suit their agenda. This is called 'lying for Jesus'. It has a name as it is so widespread.
Or perhaps you know it as 'bearing false witness' although to be fair you have no idea what the texts mean in the Tanakh anyway, and see them all pointing at Jesus, so you have an agenda, and cannot be considered a fair judge of what is written in the Tanakh.
And that is assuming you have any knowledge of Hebrew, which I doubt. Just for the record I do have a knowledge of Hebrew, Old Testament Hebrew I learned as a kid, and modern Hebrew which I pretty easily picked up when I lived in Israel.
So when someone like yourself gets uppity online and starts re-characterising what is intended in the Tanakh, and that person turns out to be a claimed follower of Jesus, that explains why what that person says is all wrong and twisted.

God impregnated a girl to give birth to himself, so he could eventurally die in a sacrifice to himself in order to apease his anger at us for the sins we committed due to the personal flaws that he built into us, and he made this sacrifice to save us from the punishment he planned to inflict on us. After God saved humanity from his vengence with his sacrifice, he then continued to burn nearly everyone in Hellfire, and he does all this because he loves us. Makes perfect sense.

Do you screen out comments from Christians? There is a very well reasoned argument for why Jesus says this on the cross and it is based in the understanding that God the Father cannot look on sin. When he placed the sins of the world on Jesus’ shoulders and punished him for our sins, he looked away and the Son was alone for the first time since the beginning of creation. Jesus did that for you and for me. You fail to understand the prophets as you are still denying the God who created you. Such a shame. Father forgive them for they know not what they do. But your will be done not mine. His judgment is already upon you and if you are not covered by the blood of Jesus - the spotless lamb - his wrath will not pass over you when it comes.

Luke never stated that he was going to be in Paradise with the criminal. It was Jesus who said this on the cross, to the man who recognised he was a sinner who deserved to die, and that Jesus was innocent and did not deserve to die. "And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43). If you actually knew God you would understand that this is REPENTANCE. Also, you are ignorant of Jesus words when He says; "Father why have you forsaken me?" It is clear that God cannot look upon sin because He is an Holy God. Jesus was taking upon Himself all the sins of the World, by enduring death. This is the one time that Jesus was truly separated from His Father. Death came into the World through one mans sin (Adam). And Jesus was reversing this curse in Himself. Believers in Christ stand today knowing He will return and restore everything that was destroyed in Eden. Christ gave Himself and His blood to atone for our sins. He became the perfect sacrifice (instead of animal sacrificion in the O.T Scriptures). Because man in his disobedience needed a different way.
If you want to attack Scripture today. I would suggest you do your homework first. To miquote Luke 23:43 demonstrates to me that you are misinformed on what it is you actually believe. I would suggest that you read the Bible in its entirety, before making outlandish claims. Also, you might want to consider looking very carefully on who Christ actually is. Especially since He appears quite a few times in the O.T. He even tells you Himself, "If you knew the scriptures, you would know ME!"

Jesus's words are fulfilling the Scriptures. if the Psalms 22 is not about His crucifixion, I wonder what is it about.
    Psalms22:1-21
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.
In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.
But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
“He trusts in the LORD,” they say, “let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.”
Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me.
My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.
Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.
All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me.
They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.
But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.
Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen.
Say what you say about Christ, He is what He is. By the way, Jesus was never helpless, He was forsaken by all, yes but never helpless. He went to His fate as a Redeemer with courage and determination. He was extremely broken in the garden of Gethsemane that He sweated blood but stood up and faced the mob (temple guards) who came to arrest Him proclaiming He is the One whom they're looking for, defending and protecting His disciples. He claimed who He is before Anna, He claimed who He is before Caiaphe and the Sanhedrin and before Pilate. Helpless? Never...

Psalm 22 is about king David and his anguish, as the Psalm preface says. It is clearly not about a divine being.
Moreover, there is nothing Christological in the entire Psalm! The suffering and anguish described are not associated with a divine plan for humanity's redemption from sin. The entire _purpose_ of Jesus's mission, which is the salvation of the human race (according to the NT), is missing from the Psalm.

    • @comali2212
      @comali2212 7 місяців тому +2

@ergnz Yeah, King David's anguish included the piercing of His hands and feet too. Didn't know King David was nailed by hid hands and feet.
      What about Psalm 110:1?
Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The LORD extends Your mighty scepter from Zion: “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”…
Who is that LORD who was talking to David's Lord if not the Father talking to the Son?
Is it also Isaiah's anguish in 53:5 and not Christ's suffering?
Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.…
The denial is still as it was 2000 years ago, not surprised. Christ warned the people including His followers that lies will always be spread about Him and He was right.

    • @psandbergnz
      @psandbergnz 7 місяців тому +1

@comali, if the Psalm is about Jesus (rather than about king David, as the Psalm preface states), then where does it imply or even _hint,_ that the suffering and anguish have anything to with an atoning sacrifice for the sins of mankind? Where is there any Christology in it? There is nothing there to imply that the trials described serve a divine plan to save humanity. The KEY ingredient for Jesus (which is redemption, according to the NT) is entirely missing!
Besides this, the context shows it cannot be about your Jesus or a divine being. How could God liken himself to "a worm, not a man"?
And did Jesus pray CONSTANTLY ("by day and by night") only to find his prayers went unanswered (verse 2)? Please find me THAT from your Gospel stories?! The verse implies not just having his prayers rejected in one evening (as for Jesus), but persistently.
"They pierce my hands and my feet" is a Christian mistranslation of the Hebrew. That verse should be: "LIKE A LION, they are at my hands and my feet." The Hebrew is "Ka'ari" meaning like a lion. There is no "piercing" of hands and feet there, and what about the piercing in Jesus''s side - Why is that absent?

You said there is no "piercing" of hands and feet there, and what about the piercing in Jesus''s side - Why is that absent?
The crucifixion, is through the hands and the feet, not the side. If King David mentioned all what Jesus went through, he probably needed a whole book. The Crown of thorns, the whipping which is mentioned, the trials, the beating, a lot of things the "beloved Jews" did to Christ you know.
You said, the context shows it cannot be about your Jesus or a divine being. How could God liken himself to "a worm, not a man"?
Isn't He the Sacrificial Lamb of God?
Isn't that what really happened during His Passion, He was considered as a Leper, a mad Man, a criminal, despised and forsaken.
He drank the Cup to the last drop, He didn't coward and ran away, He faced a whole population, system and Empire, alone.

If the Tanach Prophets knew that they were going to be violently killed for their preaching, would this knowledge have kept them from preaching God's message? Of course not. Did these men want to die violent deaths? Of course not. Men like Isaiah who met violent deaths for their preaching were confident in their resurrection to paradise and beyond to their reward.
Jesus was the expected Prophet (like unto Moses) who was endowed with both the 7-facet "Holy Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of the Messiah" at his adult baptism. As a Prophet, Jesus knew his mortal fate, and he knew his reward for being faithful to his prophetic commission. He knew his violent fate, he prophesied about it, and he accepted it. He (as other Prophets were) was confident in being resurrected, but even with that knowledge, who would be happy while they were being tortured and crucified? Still, Jesus was resigned to the conclusion of his mortal suffering and future reward.
Did Jesus cry out the words for a show? Perhaps. It is very probable that those who witnessed (the Pharisees) the crucifixion, were bit to the bone because of the scene and the words he cried...they would have known immediately what they had done.
Is David in Psalm 22 a prototype of Jesus? Absolutely. David as a man, was worried about his physical wellbeing. Jesus, as David's descendant, when he was tortured and crucified, literally had the physical experience his ancestor described. Jesus was 100% man...and he was 100% worried and in pain, and he 100% remained faithful to his task up to and past his crucifixion and resurrection, just as every other true Prophet was faithful up until death (or whatever their fate demanded).
One thing I would like to point out about the Rabbi's somewhat dismissive comment towards the end. He's acting like Jesus' death was an axe chop or a sword thrust (a quick simple somewhat painless death) and then a resurrection as a reward. Jesus suffered a long and drawn-out torture, most likely the most cruel torture in the history of mankind.
By his pious and righteous life, and his brutal torture and murder (for obeying his commission as being the expected Prophet), he was/is rewarded with the resurrection and paradise...and, in the future, he will return as the Messiah b. David to rule the Messianic Kingdom era.

In fact, it is possible that it was someone else up there or he just fainted and after (not listening to) Three Days Grace got the hell out of there and made his way to India. There are stories to this day, and movies, about his jaunt along the Silk Road and even tombs of him and his mum on the subcontinent. The church fathers just made stuff up to make it sound good and hid stuff that would detract from their narrative, like if he didn't die on the cross then their screwed, basically. Plus they call it a testament. That word actually comes from testicles, since if you did a Pinocchio, they would chop them off hehe. Somehow, I don't really blame the fathers they need some kind of device to to get through the thick skulls of many people.

With every session you have, you blaspheme God constantly. He said: my God, why have you forsaken me. Rejecting the new covenant, you choose to ignore the truth. When our Lord God Jesus asked that question, that was the moment when all the sins of the world were entrust on his person, separating man from God at that moment to complete the human sacrifice of God, shedding his own precious blood on the cross for the propitiation of sins . That is the reason why God came to this world, manifest in the flesh, Jesus Christ.
You have the problem: You refuse to accept God's pure words. You think yourselves wise but God says you are foolish. The truth is, our LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST is a stumbling block for you, but for us He is salvation. Read Isaiah 54, Palms 2 to name just a few for your enlightenment.

Jesus - Christ two names and thus two souls in the one body. The Jesus soul was the one who endured the pain of the crucifixion, the Christ soul left before Jesus endured the suffering, because Jesus had karmic accounts from previous births The Christ soul enters Jesus at around the time of being baptised by John the Baptist and then begins his ministry for approximately 3 years. Christ was a prophet, a pure soul that did not have the karma to suffer. That's why when Jesus was being crucified, he cried out - my God my God why have you forsaken me. Think about this... Jesus-Christ already knew he was destined to die at the hands of the Jewish authority. The life force (the Christ soul) left him, and so Jesus felt betrayed. BTW Christ is not God, God is incorporeal and ever pure, He never enters the cycle of birth and death.

Jesus is how you can be when you know Actual 100% God no god beside.--he is a model of God with any of us. So he looks like David, and shows so special, one might think that there is! a God in heaven. And that God can be in you if you stop missing the mark, and recognize the story-message that shows there is God if you can believe God resurrected J-man, showing this person was the promise.-Ernie Moore Jr.

Jesus was not the son of God. He was a spiritual authority who came into the world to teach the world to love one another, because up until that time, people were not getting the message. Jesus took on a suicide mission. He knew those Romans would be scared to death of him and they'd kill him. He knew this, but he came anyway. It is the TEACHINGS of Jesus that are meant to inspire you, not Jesus himself. So when you say, Jesus died on the cross to save you from your sins, that's the truth, but not the way everybody thinks. His TEACHINGS are what save you. Jesus died on the cross because he took on a suicide mission to teach the world how to love one other. Another thing, Jesus did not always speak the literal truth, because people could not have comprehended if he did.

As an atheist NT scholar, I know you, with your deep knowledge of the developmental Christologies throughout the Gospels, know that it is a little more complex than that. Even though I'm a christian I quite enjoyed listening to you there, rabbi Singer. i think you're guilty of a few errors though
    (1) Jesus didn't say 'I say to you, TODAY you will be with me in paradise' but rather 'TODAY I say to you, you will be with me in paradise'. it's a hebraism in other words eg Deut 4:26 'I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land'. They obviously didn't perish off the land THAT DAY!
    (2) your assertion that Mark wants to portray Jesus as a 'pathetic character' is surely false and you must know that. Virtually everyone recognizes that Mark portrays Jesus as a dynamic, powerful, irresistable 'force' and in fact only a few verses prior to 'the cry of dereliction' he states, 'and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS' (15:28). In other words he makes it clear that it was all intentional.
    (3) do you think David was contradicting himself in Ps 22:1 when he went on to say 'I am a WORM and no man' but then 'thou took me from my mothers womb' and 'my bones are out of joint' and 'they pierced my hands and my feet'?
    (4) Note the 7 words from the cross:
A: Father forgive them they know not what they do (Luke 23:34)
C1 I say to you this day, you will be with me in paradise ( Luke 23:43)
C2 Behold your son Behold your mother (Jn 19:26,27)
A: My God My God why have you forsaken me (Matt 27:46)
C1 to fulfil scripture he said, I am thirsty (Jn 19:28)
C2 after drinking the wine he said, It is finished (Jn 19:30)
A Father into your hands I commit my spirit (Luke 23:46)
Praise God! All Israel will be saved

Michael/Jesus had to live seven lives as various angels and then the final life experience was supposed to be a primitive life of an ascending being. Once the seventh life had reached a certain point Michael/Jesus was then able to connect with God and become One. When a being becomes One with God it means they can communicate and that being can create new beings.
When Michael/Jesus lived a human life and grew to be an adult He kept saying, "My time has not yet come," because He had not yet become One with God. He was waiting. Once the bond happened Jesus began preaching more aggressively. Michael/Jesus had to die to have the full experience but He did not have to die by crucifixion. Michael/Jesus could have left His body and it would have fallen dead on the spot but He chose to go through the crucifixion experience because the angels were rebelling and accusing Jesus of being untested and unworthy. When Jesus said, "Why have you forsaken me!" He was basically saying, "I've had enough," so He could leave his body. A Son of God experiencing something like that is very unusual to the universe.

Wasn't Paul secretly working for the Flavian Dynasty? Weren't all of the original Roman Catholic Saints' members of the Flavian Dynasty? Weren't all of the original symbols used by the earliest Christians identical to those of the Flavian Dynasty? And wasn't the earliest iconographic image of Jesus The Christ, in a catacomb, under the city of Rome, which was owned by a Flavian Princess? Weren't all of the original Jesus cult texts produced under the oversight of the Flavian Dynasty? Didn't the Flavian Dynasty posses the only remaining copy of the Hebrew Tanakh other than the Greek Septuagint translation? Isn't there Flavian typology in the Gospels? Weren't the canonical texts all back dated like the historical fiction of Gone With The Wind? Wasn't Emperor Vespasian known as the Jewish Messiah? Weren't the Flavian's descended from King Herod? There was no separation of Church and State in the Roman Empire. And Christianity is clearly a Greco-Roman hybrid form of Judaism created by the Flavian Dynasty as an attempt to adapt, pacify, and integrate the rebellious and defiant Jews into the rest of the Greco-Roman Empire. Then finally Neo-Flavian Constantine chose the Flavian family religion to be the official religion of the entire Roman Empire. In order to consolidate power in his fractured Empire. And then Eusebius edited and rewrote the history of the previous 3OO years. It isn't history it is all simply Greco-Roman mythopoetic literature. Today it is known as Historical Fiction.💙

Answer: "My God, My God Why have you forsaken Me" - since before the world, the Father and Son are locked in an endless "gaze" of never-ending love, One, for the Other! When Jesus enters FULLY into human dysfunction (the Cross), He embraces even ultimately the "abandonment" of God,! As man, trapped within his sin, is abandoned without God's loving plan of Salvation (Christ on the Cross). Jesus entered FULLY into human sin...not 99%...FULLY!

Jeremiah 31:31-34, God promises a new covenant with His people, distinct from the covenant made at Mount Sinai. This new covenant entails a direct relationship between God and each individual, as He says, "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people" This covenant emphasizes a personal connection with God and the internalization of His laws, rather than external obedience. We see the fulfillment of this prophecy in the coming of Jesus Christ, who inaugurated the new covenant through His death and resurrection. In the New Testament, Jesus refers to the new covenant in His Last Supper discourse (Matthew 26:28) and Paul discusses it in his letters (e.g., 1 Corinthians 11:25, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Hebrews 8:6-13). This new covenant is seen as a spiritual renewal and transformation of God’s relationship with His people, made possible through the forgiveness of sins by Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross.

Jesus is God - He heard Davids cry of anguish and heard how he felt and he bore his pain and iniquity just like he did for you and me. When God called out to Moses from the burning bush moses said " Here I am" . and when David crIed to God asking "why are you so far from me ".... Jesus answered 400 years later not just for David but the whole world with arms wide open. here I AM. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Immoral things in Jud--
      1. Allowance Contraception
If you allow for contraception, like Juda- gives allowance for if you have two children of male and female, then you are thereby saying that a perver-n is morally okay sometimes. If that’s the case you should say all perver-ons are not wrong. And therefore, allow for things like -e-st-ity.
      2. Abortion
Yeah, the stance here he has makes zero sense. How does a baby magically become a person when it’s head pops out. If you can’t trade a life for a life, then it makes zero sense why they allow for direct abortion in cases of life, instead of only allowing indirect in these specific cases. If the soul is the principle of life, and a fetus is human, since it has human DNA, and alive, bc it grows, and a whole organism, not a part of an organism, then a living human organism must have a human soul, and therefore be a person. I would say a person is an individual member of a rational kind. Animals have consciousness, etc, and are not persons. Infants are considered persons, and yet they don’t think rationally. So, if life begins at conception (scientifically it does), then why isn’t a fetus considered a person? That’s backwards imo.
      3. Allowances for chattel slavery like to ancient Canaanites
      4. Allowing divorce and in some cases, polygamy. Both of which are immoral.

You haven’t been reading any of the patriarchs of Wisdom?
The vain reasonings of the wicked: their persecuting the just, especially the Son of God.
1 For they have said, reasoning with themselves, but not right: The time of our life is short and tedious, and in the end of a man there is no remedy, and no man hath been known to have returned from hell: 2 For we are born of nothing, and after this we shall be as if we had not been: for the breath in our nostrils is smoke: and speech a spark to move our heart, 3 Which being put out, our body shall be ashes, and our spirit shall be poured abroad as soft air, and our life shall pass away as the trace of a cloud, and shall be dispersed as a mist, which is driven away by the beams of the sun, and overpowered with the heat thereof: 4 And our name in time shall be forgotten, and no man shall have any remembrance of our works. 5 For our time is as the passing of a shadow, and there is no going back of our end: for it is fast sealed, and no man returneth.
6 Come therefore, and let us enjoy the good things that are present, and let us speedily use the creatures as in youth. 7 Let us fill ourselves with costly wine, and ointments: and let not the flower of the time pass by us. 8 Let us crown ourselves with roses, before they be withered: let no meadow escape our riot. 9 Let none of us go without his part in luxury: let us everywhere leave tokens of joy: for this is our portion, and this our lot. 10 Let us oppress the poor just man, and not spare the widow, nor honour the ancient grey hairs of the aged.
11 But let our strength be the law of justice: for that which is feeble, is found to be nothing worth. 12 Let us therefore lie in wait for the just, because he is not for our turn, and he is contrary to our doings, and upbraideth us with transgressions of the law, and divulgeth against us the sins of our way of life. 13 He boasteth that he hath the knowledge of God, and calleth himself the son of God. 14 He is become a censurer of our thoughts. 15 He is grievous unto us, even to behold: for his life is not like other men's, and his ways are very different.
16 We are esteemed by him as triflers, and he abstaineth from our ways as from filthiness, and he preferreth the latter end of the just, and glorieth that he hath God for his father. 17 Let us see then if his words be true, and let us prove what shall happen to him, and we shall know what his end shall be. 18 For if he be the true son of God, he will defend him, and will deliver him from the hands of his enemies. 19 Let us examine him by outrages and tortures, that we may know his meekness and try his patience. 20 Let us condemn him to a most shameful death: for there shall be respect had unto him by his words.
21 These things they thought, and were deceived: for their own malice blinded them. 22 And they knew not the secrets of God, nor hoped for the wages of justice, nor esteemed the honour of holy souls. 23 For God created man incorruptible, and to the image of his own likeness he made him. 24 But by the envy of the devil, death came into the world: 25 And they follow him that are of his side.

      1. Slightly taller
Underwhelming. Doesn’t fit in context with elders missing glory of the First. No Ark.
      2. Slightly longer time
      Same problems as 1.
      3. Herod’s additions
      A. Beautiful
Whereas Herod’s additions were beautiful, they should have also included the Ark of the Covenant, since Solomon’s was both beautiful and had the Ark.
      B. Allow Sacrifices from other nations
If God was really so pleased with how things were going at this point with piety and worship, why was the Temple then destroyed?
      4. Third Temple?
In context, this verse clearly refers to the Second Temple.

When Jesus of Nazareth was on his mission, he said that The Father was always with him. He stated that he was not left alone, but his Father was with him. The Father and Son were together before the world was - as recorded in John 17 when he was praying to The Father. When he was in the garden, he prayed that The Father would remove the cup... but he did not.
Jesus of Nazareth also stated that Scripture cannot be broken recorded in John 10; therefore, he had to fulfill Scripture by dying on that cross. He did it ALONE. As he cried out to God, he was fulfilling Psalm 22:1. And when he died, he also fulfilled Isaiah 53. He conquered death accor ding to Isaiah 25:8 - he would swallow up death in VICTORY - and also fulfilling
    Hosea 13:14 -
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
The angels, good and bad, and the prophets did not know God's redemption plan. The Apostle Peter mentions this in his 1st Epistle in verse 10 thru 12.
At his death he also became The Lamb of God sacrifice fulfilling the Passover Lamb offering, He also fulfilled the Yom Kippur sacrifice as he was put to death. John The Baptist proclaimed him as 'The Lamb of God'! - and that he was.

Rabbi, it is not about feeling, just like King David was surrounding by all the troubles of his life, family and relationships; He believed in God. In all rationales, he might not feel blessed at that moment, but he was still called a man after God's own heart, because he BELIEVES. The same with Jesus, he felt abandoned because he had done nothing to deserve this torture, but He also know that God lives and He promised to give the one that is willing to BELIEVE Him eternal life, and that is our faith, and faith is the substance of the thing we hope for but cannot see,. and our hope is to be back to the Garden of Eden and to home to God the father again. Who reached out to you first to show the world that He is the one true God. and that He is real, so is Jesus.

The reason why the crucifixion story does not make sense to the rabbi is because of the curse from God to the Children of Israel - and that's why it is so much easier for a Gentile to believe. The Children of Israel were blind and not listening to God; therefore, God made them blind according to Isaiah 6....
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

In Genesis, Elohim is masculine plural (not singular or dual) for Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God also said let Us make man in Our own image. I believe the following are a few preincarnate appearances of Jeshua (Jesus Christ). Melchizedek (King of Righteousness), also called the King of Salem, and "priest of God Most High" appears to Abraham. He speaks of God as both Creator and Deliverer. He even offers "bread and wine" to Abraham after his victory in battle over his enemies. Abraham gives him a tithe of tenth of the spoils of battle (which clearly belong to God). The Lord appeared to Abraham by the terebinth trees of Mamre as One of three men. The Lord said, after being fed by Abraham, shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do (in Sodom and Gomorrah). So the Lord (God) stayed behind allowing Abraham to barter with him for the lives of any potential righteous persons remaining there (the other two men, angels went on their way towards the city). Abraham was cautious, with each subsequent question, not wanting to anger the Lord (though he knew his estranged, compromised nephew Lot still lived there). Jacob wrested with God through the night and God finally dislocated his hip. Jacob called the place Penuel, and said, I saw the Lord face to face, and my life is spared.
On the cross before He died, Jesus said, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?". The bible says Jesus was God in the flesh. As I said earlier in more detail, these are a few examples in brief of what I believe were some of Jesus' appearances in the old testament. I suspect it was Jesus waliking through the garden looking for Adam and Eve (since the Spirit of God would likely hover like during the creation of the heavens and earth. Then He appeared as Melchizedek (who was given one-tenth as a tithe) and later the Lord (God) appeared to Abraham as One of three men who stays to talk with him while the other two went ahead to Sodom and Gomorrah and later as an adversary when Jacob wrestled with God. In other passages of the Old Testament, I believe Jesus is referred to as "The Angel of the LORD". I believe these were prior appearances of Jesus before he physically took on.flesh as an infant in Bethlehem on Christmas Day as foretold in the book of Micah. Jesus was the sacrificial lamb of God whom Abraham said God would provide, and also David in the Spirit said, " The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my hand until I make your enemies a foot stool for your feet. The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies." The Father (and likewise the Holy Spirit) are Holy and Righteous therefore they can't look upon or be joined to sin so Jesus took on human form to die on the cross, but God who is Spirit had to withdraw from Him as he took on our sins and wss ready to die.. Hell is complete separation from God, judgement and punishment (spiritual death) as well as first physical death of our bodies as a result of Adam's sin.. Please read Isaiah 53:1-12! In Isaiah 53:4-6 it says, "Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.", and Isaiah 9:6: "" For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given...he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
