Fast firing weapons do less damage than regular weapons, something to bear in mind. Plus if I remember, the normal fire rate disruptors cycle at the same speed as photon torpedoes.

@@jaystation64 I don't fully remember, but coming out of a cloak with max power to weapons can be devastating so long as you're not in their firing arcs.
Guessing you are using the GOG version of the game? There are a few bugs like the mouse pointer fake tracking and invisible ship warp bug to contend with but given it's age it works well enough. That pirate ship is pretty much only found in SFC3, doesn't even resemble the pirates from SFC2.
This is indeed the GOG version of the game! I do have a retro gaming pc gifted by a good friend, and I'll be using that for the next series! But the GOG one works well enough as you say 🙂 Interesting that the pirate design isn't based on anything! I quite like the design 😅
