There is gaps between the spikes if you just position your body correctly you can just slip trough them even while closed. It would be funny if the spikes just got destroyed and the wall smashes them so there is really no escape

Those spikes are fake and retractable, but the exit will never open if you touch them. Also there are only 3 tries to complete the challenge
